Call of Duty Classic shoots to the top on PS3 and Xbox 360
Along with the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward released the first classic Call of Duty game onto the Xbox 360 and PS3. The new updated version of the classic game recently shot up to the top echelon on both PSN Store and XBL Marketplace.
The new revamped Call of Duty Classic, which was originally released in 2003 has been upgraded to HD with all new online multiplayer support. Despite the HD upgrade, the textures remain the same and the multiplayer mode is limited to eight players. However, the game reminds us why Infinity Ward is where the studio is at today.

Even with Modern Warfare 2 out in the wild being ravaged by millions of gamers, I thought it was interesting to see that COD Classic shoot up to the number four spot on XBL Marketplace bestseller list. COD Classic surprisingly shot up to number one on the PSN Store. It seems like console gamers just can’t get enough of Call of Duty. It’s actually all quite ridiculously sickening.

cod is crap and overrated. . .pretty much the same as the 360
December 19th, 2009
Oh snap !!!!!!

“number four spot on XBL Marketplace bestseller list. COD Classic surprisingly shot up to number one on the PSN Store.”
So much for the primarily “pandering to the 360 fanbase” argument, PS3 owners seem to love it even more… lol.
December 19th, 2009
I actually own about half of the CoD titles for 360. I own 2,3, and 4 but 4 is probably the only one I was realy able to get into and enjoy. I definately intend on getting MW2. I probably will not bother with CoD classic or that last one that came out before MW2.. Can’t remember the name of it right now.
Maybe i’m just sick of the WWII FPS games?
December 20th, 2009
Call of Duty suck

“Maybe i’m just sick of the WWII FPS games?”
@FKSH
Well i prefer Brothers In Arms series over COD and MOH..
December 20th, 2009
Might pick up COD 2 & 3 just for a looksee.
December 20th, 2009
Ivan you’re only saying that because of what activision said. PS3 sales were pretty good so ps3 users obviously don’t care about fanboys like you
December 20th, 2009
Maybe I should get this Call of duty. I played one once and really was bad at it, maybe I’ll do better this time.
December 20th, 2009
Yeah Call of Duty is just hyped.
I wonder what was that Activision said. Look who’s talking the Xbot himself LMFAO.
December 21st, 2009
ivan what games you got?
December 21st, 2009
the game is not that bad, but it is surely hyped to shit

CarlB has been trolling like theres no tomorrow lately.
True colors.
December 21st, 2009
havent you noticed he didnt use to post at all while he was a 360 only owner…the PS3 has made all his color come out. he hasnt stopped trolling ever since
December 21st, 2009
“havent you noticed he didnt use to post at all while he was a 360 only owner…”
I was here long before your time roca.
@phranc,
Yes, I know, saying the PS3 is not that bad but that it has been hyped in the past is truly the epitome of trolling, especially here…
December 21st, 2009
saying it out of the blue and off tipic is considered trolling.
December 21st, 2009
It was only in response to your remark, not “out of the blue”, and oddly enough, not “off topic” as PS3 owners seem to flock to this title more despite all the “hype” PS3/PSN exclusives have been getting.
December 21st, 2009
His response was to a game and not a system though.
December 21st, 2009
my remark was about CoD the game…it has nothing to do with PS3 of 360. everybody (before you came trolling) were having a nice conversation about the “game” and leaving the console out of it.
you brought up the PS3 hate on both your first and second post in this thread. Cheers
December 21st, 2009
The article mentioned the systems though.
“PS3 hate”… so I guess I was wrong… it IS bad and there has been absolutely no hype for PS3 in the past or now… so sorry, I’ll get it right next time. Cheers.
*CarlB starts mantra, “Must not say or even HINT anything even REMOTELY bad about PS3 on Blorge” …note to self: saying “it is not bad” but that it has been hyped in the past is BAD and considered “hate”… damn… where are the lyrics to that SDF PS3 hymn when you need them?*
December 21st, 2009
he can be taught.
December 21st, 2009
until “ultimate” experiences like Afrika snap me out of it… lol… ah, if only it had some Jim Carrey Pet Detective cameos… like the hippo scene
December 22nd, 2009
you have been having a blast talking about Afrika but the fact is the 360 put out waaay more crap than the PS3 and the PS3 had more games rated above the 90s and was the console with the highest average of review scores
http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/105/1056419p1.html
December 22nd, 2009
Yes, well I would complain about that if 360 hadn’t also put out not only more titles but also more well reviewed titles (75 and above, 80 above, etc.) this year as well. So you liked Braid did you? Good for you.
December 22nd, 2009
actually the PS3 put out a better quality lineup (85=+) of games (not DLCs, or mini games).
so did you like Demon’s Souls…oh wait trophies are too hard and it will kill some of your rental time. and the end you only play games for trophies/achivements. how sad
December 22nd, 2009
Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night roca. It’s 85 and above now is it? Oh and don’t count those DLC titles… hahaha. I am saving Demon’s Souls for a rainy day as I do own it now though. I do see you got the platinum for it though, congrats, I just found it a bit more tedious at times (read – less fun for me at times than the other games I played on PS3, just my opinion). Weren’t you just telling me not that long ago that you don’t need to play through every game right away? Is this different somehow?
Yes, I did play through all of MGS4 even though it doesn’t have trophies or achievements, and it is my least favorite PS3 game, but not for that reason.
“and the end you only play games for trophies/achivements. how sad”
What gave you that idea? Just because I have plats for every game I’ve played so far on PS3 except Demon Souls and MGS4? Just because I got some like Uncharted 2 and both the God of War Collection ones before you? Sorry, but like I said, I enjoyed these games and the trophies are just a side effect of that. Too bad you can’t understand that.
December 22nd, 2009
what about Valkyria Choronicles, I thought that was one the first PS3 games you were going to get. but since it has no trophies it chose to pass on a great game.
December 22nd, 2009
Gamefly is perfect for ppl who play the games just for trophies/achivements (I wonder if they have any real value for you)
December 22nd, 2009
“what about Valkyria Choronicles, I thought that was one the first PS3 games you were going to get. but since it has no trophies it chose to pass on a great game.”
Uh… no… it (actually Valkyria Chronicles) was one of the games I was looking at playing before I got a PS3 though, and I remember you recommending it… sorry if I haven’t gotten around to it yet? So far I have been playing nothing but top rated games on both 360 and PS3 that interest me personally, but thanks for letting me know it does not have trophies… I wasn’t aware of that but will probably still wind up playing it anyway… maybe sometime after playing the games I already own?
“Gamefly is perfect for ppl who play the games just for trophies/achivements (I wonder if they have any real value for you)”
Lol… PC games, PSOne Classics, PSP games, PS2 games, DS games, Wii games… sorry brother but there are a lot of other consoles that I have and do play which don’t have achievements/trophies for their games. GameFly allows me to play all of these games (besides PC ones – but I like Good Old Games, just downloaded the Might and Magic pack) for a fraction of the price I would pay if I actually bought all of them. But I doubt I will have GameFly in Okinawa, so I will have to buy games again, just like I did the decades before I started using GameFly. I do enjoy achievements in game as well though this gen even though I did fine without them for the other 6… why are you stuck on this?
December 23rd, 2009
*yawn*
December 23rd, 2009
It does look like you have really gotten into trophies though, considering all the plats you have on PS3 (much more than I have)… especially Demon Soul’s… congrats.
December 23rd, 2009
not really.. I hav more games that I havent completed 100% than platinum trophies.
MW2 is a good example..when I play it is for the MP which has no trophies I havent even though the SP mode after the first 20 mins I played
December 23rd, 2009
“not really.. I hav more games that I havent completed 100% than platinum trophies.”
I hear you, I also have more games that I haven’t completed 100% than those I have on 360 as well.
That’s great you like shooters a lot, and online multiplayer in them… I just like games like Bayonetta, Borderlands, Dragon Age, and God of War more.
December 24th, 2009
Im into all kinds of game and genres. I play RPGs, Racing, Action, adventure, online, shooters, platformer, party games, etc
I play some sports game and I hate RTS and Tactics RPG games
December 24th, 2009
I love RTS and Tactics RPG games… ahh… StarCraft, Command and Conquer, Battle for Middle Earth II, Age of Empires, Total Annihilation, Final Fantasy Tactics, Jeanne D’Arc, Culdcept rank among my favorites.
December 24th, 2009
I like Tactics games just not Tactics RPGs
I loved Jeanne D’Arc though. I think it was mostly because the unique amount of character you can have in your team wherareas FF tactics and the Disggaea series you recruit a whole bunch of ramdom ppl that look alike and have nothing to with the story.
RTS not so much but I do like the “Tower defense” games
December 24th, 2009
“I like Tactics games just not Tactics RPGs”
Okay… I’m probably just confused here… tactical rpgs right? Or Strategy RPG’s if you prefer… so you are saying you do not like the Disgaea series or Final Fantasy Tactics?
What kind of “tactics” games do you like, if not RTS’s like the ones I mentioned above?
December 26th, 2009
“What kind of “tactics†games do you like, if not RTS’s like the ones I mentioned above?”
Valkyrira Chronicles, PixelJunk Monsters, and other Tower Defense games. I also like some Tactics RPGs like Jeanne D’arc but there are a few of them
December 26th, 2009
I thought Valkyria was an action RPG, PixelJunk Monsters an RTS? Isn’t tower defense just a sub-genre of RTS? I have to agree with you on Jeanne D’Arc though, I especially liked some of the anime cutscenes in it which gave the game a really unique character.
December 28th, 2009
Valkyrira Chronicles is a mix of tactic/strategy RPG and Action RPG with some 3rd person shooter in it. its hard to explain but they were able to mix those genre pretty good.
“PixelJunk Monsters an RTS? Isn’t tower defense just a sub-genre of RTS?”
yes but it is still heavy on strategy.
and Jeanne D’arc was a awesome game because of the unique characters, the story and even the way you could combine items/magic. I hope level-5 delivers with WKC like they have with Jeanne D’arc, Rogue Galaxy and DQXIII
