Final Fantasy XIII sells over 1 million excluding PS3 bundle
Final Fantasy XIII is considered to be the most anticipated RPG to date. Recently Square Enix announced initial first day sales figure for Final Fantasy XIII only a day after its release. According to Square Enix in a press release, the game sold a little over 1 million units in Japan.
The game was released in Japan in two different forms: PS3 blu-ray disc, and 250GB PS3 Lightning Edition bundle. Apparently around 1.8 million units were shipped to retail stores for launch week. It is estimated that around 1.3 million copies are standalone PS3 discs and the rest in the form of PS3 Lightning Edition bundles.

Apparently this is one of the best selling Final Fantasy games in Japan when considering the install base size. Final Fantasy XII sold 1.8 million copies on a 25 million user PS2 install base first week of release. However, we won’t know for certain on the final numbers until Media Create releases the PS3 and software count. I am curious to see how many folks picked up the 250GB PS3 Lightning Edition bundle. It sure is mighty tempting.

The temptation is beyond high for me i need this so bad. The PS3 slim now looks awesome with that skin plus 250GB and FFXIII sweet deal, only in Japan. I got import this to my world USA fast. Final Fantasy might just be the real system seller Sony has always being waiting for. If you Final Fantasy fanatic you will get this in March only for PS3. Those unfortunate enough to just own the Xbox 360 will have to suffer a bit to enjoy this master piece. Since they will get a cheap knock off version Xbox 360 quality.
I’m buying this, i have too, i have no choice.

You can take your PS3 and stick it were the sun doesn’t shine. Need you be reminded that previous images released showed the 360 version looking just as good and in some cases better than the PS3 version? I seriously doubt that the 360 version is going to be any less spectacular than the PS3 version.
As for when FFXIII releases, I will be buying it for 360.
Also I would like to say here and now that I believe that the 360 version will OUTSELL the PS3 version.

Your comment is already wrong.
Saying the 360 version will outsell the PS3 version… lol I have nothing to say to that. The sales already speak for themselves.
December 19th, 2009
@Sorral
The article only mentions audio and video compression. That doesn’t make any real statement about graphics or anything else for that matter. So the 360 version will be on several discs? That doesn’t matter and is not at all what I was refering to.
And as for my comment about it selling more on the 360 version I was refering to the stateside release.
December 19th, 2009
Also if anyone is going to complain about it being on more than 1 disc I can just say that they are being fat and lazy and don’t want to spend 5 seconds of their time changing a disc.
December 19th, 2009
I here multiple disks can cause errors, making the game experience harder to enjoy.
December 19th, 2009
video compression means the quality of the visual will not be on par with the PS3s.
and it may sell more on the 360 (as there are more units out around the world). but I bet FF Versus 13 will sell more on the PS3
LOL @ Liquid
December 19th, 2009
@Roca
Appearently FFXIII is not yet released in Jp for 360, even though it will be released here for both 360 and PS3 at the same time. Seems kinda funny how it’s not even out in Jp on 360. I do think that it will outsell on 360 here in the states though.
As for Vs13, I wouldn’t be stupid enough to take that bet cause it’s a PS3 exclusive, so naturally sales figures would be just *slightly* geared towards PS3 lol
Video compression doesn’t have to mean that the visuals will not be as good as on PS3. We don’t know the level of compression. Some 360 screens were shown and they had looked really good, and on par with the PS3 screens, but the game is still months away from being released on 360 so we will just have to wait to see how it turns out in the end. I’m sure that it will look just as amazing on the 360. As a developer Square is no slouch and they can do amazing things with any game console.
Either way, PS3 or 360, this game will be worth picking up and I can’t wait till March
December 19th, 2009
Something else worth noting is that Jp gets the lighting edition bundle and Europe is getting a limited edition of the game too, but so far nothing has been announced for either PS3 or 360 version of the game stateside.
December 19th, 2009
* Audio and video are uncompressed in the PS3 version, compressed in the 360 one (great for you tech fanatics).
* The PS3 will have the game on one dual-layer Blu-ray, the 360 will have it on three dual-layer DVD’s. That we already knew.

@Ivan
I don’t think number of discs really matter.
If FFVII had 5 discs instead of 3 would it have made it any less epic? Now you can buy it on the PSN and there is no disc swapping at all, and it’s still an epic game
December 19th, 2009
FahKinSuPah:
There’s no such thing as a five disc game. And yes it matters a lot. Why do Xbox owner always compare their console with the PS1 and PS2 and and always avoid the PS3.
I will buy this bundle from Japan and since the game comes out March 9 on PS3 my birthday i will also buy that too on PS3.
The game was design on the PS3 until Microsoft pay them to ported that’s why the Xbox 360 is getting a downgrade rush copy. I will pirate this game for my Xbox 360.
December 19th, 2009
Multi-discs usage does affect how the games get played.
Open world games in most cases cannot be played well on more than one disc, e.g. swap discs when you move from area A to area B?
In FFVII, some areas become unaccessible when you swap discs. Don’t tell me it is because of the story, it was technical.
As for FFXIII coming out in Japan for the 360, it won’t. It is exclusive for the PS3 over there.
And its visuals being compressed does affect the overall quality of the game.
I have an HD TV and if I can get the best out of it on the PS3 version of the game, why should I get the inferior version? 720p vs 1080p/i is not a small difference mind you.
“As a developer Square is no slouch and they can do amazing things with any game console.”
That’s why their JRPG’s on the 360 sucked a lot, amirite?
If there is a company that I hate with passion out there, it is SquarEnix. I played FFXI since Dec. 2004(still have my account and log on occasionally), if there is a company that doesn’t care much about their customer’s demands and only cares about money in recent years, it is them.
December 19th, 2009
@Ivan
I don’t just own a 360, I also own a PS3 and a Wii(which isn’t worth really discussing).
I was just using the number “5″ as an example. If FFVII was 5 discs long it would still be an awsome game. FFVIII was 4 discs long and it was great. I believe IX was 4 discs as well and it was still an awsome game. It’s not the quantity of the discs but the quality of the game that is on those discs that matter. Why is it that alot of PS3 owners always fail to realize that? And it’s not Xbox owners comparing it to PS1 and PS2, but rather it’s the PS3 owners running around saying “Oh, my Bluray is bigger than your DVD.” like a bunch of men in a public bathroom.
Everyone here knows that your such a PS3 fan boy Ivan. You try to bash 360 at every chance you get but in the end you are the one who loses out. PS3 isn’t the only system with great games that are worth playing. Sony makes some good systems/games but I feel that this console generation they have started to fall behind the Xbox. I am a Sony fan, not a fanboy, and I will probably always buy a Sony system (even though they personaly screwed me over. Another story for another time)unless they do something extrememly stupid. I started out with PS1 when FFVII was released and it was easily better than N64. It was ashame that Sega Dreamcast flopped (cause of people like you who pirate games) cause it was an amazing system. PS2 was another amazing system and I prefered that over the original Xbox. The first Xbox had some great games but it had a serious lack of RPG’s, which is why I love the PS2 so much.
Now here we are in the new generation of consoles and the tables are turned. 360 has more RPG’s than PS3. (I’m currently playing Infinite Undiscovery on 360 and I love it.) In japan RPG’s move systems, as anyone can see with the impressive sales of FFXIII.
I have a few reasons why I prefer my 360, not just the RPGs.
Ya know… I actually don’t like the PS3 controller. The PS2 controller was great. Comfortable and fit great in my hands. Even the weight felt right.
The 360 controller is obviously copying on the design a bit but it feels even more comfortable and the triggers feel great. My only problems with it are the D-pad sucks (which is why I found a better one and put it in) and when playing Katamari the placement of the analog sticks feel weird. I got used to playing Katamari on PS2, where they are together in the center, which feels more even for Katamari.
The PS3 controller just doesn’t feel as solid. The weight feels off and I really hate the design of the triggers, which is a cheap copy of the 360 triggers. I really like the idea that they already have a rechargable battery in them and that you can use any USB-USB mini cable to charge it. I was pissed when I opened up my PS3 and found out the cable that was included was only 4 feet long though! What a rip off lol. My Tv is about 5-6 away from my bed! Sony could have put in a longer cable. They are cheap enough.

@Sorral
I’m currently playing Infinite Undiscovery on 360, which I am sure falls into the jrpg category.
I’m really enjoying this game and it got some solid ratings, so I wouldn’t say that it sucks.
Since we are talking about # of discs I can tie this one into it as well.
IU is 2 discs long but appearently it is not as long as most RPG’s are. I am near the end of the game and I am under 30 hours, but I spent at least 8 hours building up my money that I didn’t need to do. So 2 discs, and this game feels kind of short.
I don’t mind swapping discs but the fact that the game feels so short made me wonder why it was even 2 discs in the first place. My best guess is that everything is pretty much uncompressed. There are alot of areas that can only be accessed once so they have no need to be on both discs, but everything in general loads so quick.
December 19th, 2009
We won’t know what version of Final Fantasy will look better until both versions have been released. Even though having the game on multiple discs may not be an issue with game play, I would rather have the game on one disc. As far as sales go, I definetely believe this game will sale more on the PS3 system.
December 19th, 2009
I recall some of you making fun of the Netflix service on PS3 just because you have to “insert a disc”
December 19th, 2009
You missed my point. Multi-disc is not an issue for linear games, going from point A to B and the story goes on, no use for area A anymore.
But do multi-disc with a game like GTA, and see how will that go.
The point is that multi-disc is going backward not forward, otherwise we would still be living in caves, extreme example but it fits. It has nothing to do with laziness for me.
I haven’t seen a “solid jRPG” on the 360 since Lost Odessy, but this one is just a matter of opinion.
The netflix thing is temporary. Don’t see the big deal as you have to put a disc in for most video games anyway.
The controllers thing is just a matter of opinion and all you said is subjective.
The triggers are actually different on the ps3 controller, they are more “sprangy” and pretty sleek in a bad way, reel triggers fix the issue though. The 360’s stay in once you press them, and the DS3 verison weight is almost the same as the DS2(ps2’s) except for the triggers. If you use the sixaxes, I suggest upgrading… lol

@FahKinSuPah
Nice post. From personal experience I know the PS2 had a lot of fans (including me) that didn’t make the switch to PS3. Mostly it just comes down to the awesome catalog of exclusive games for the PS2 which hasn’t been replicated this time round.
A question: Will FFXIII let you do a HDD install. My 60GB is basically empty so I could install the entire game on it.
Another question: Isn’t the read speed twice as slow for a dual layer BD? It’s not a flame (not much anyway), I just remember it coming up before.
December 19th, 2009
Hard drive install… multi-disc issues solved.
“There’s no such thing as a five disc game.”
You’re right Ivan, Baldur’s Gate on PC came on six discs… lol.
Just got through with the Bayonetta demo on 360… damn this game is beautiful… definitely the spiritual successor to the Otagi releases, both classics in their own right. 15 more days.
December 19th, 2009
The white PS3 slim is pretty slick. I would like to have a white PS3 slim with a glossy finish. And touch-buttons (THAT DON’T SHOCK ME EVERY TIME I TOUCH THEM). And a… infinity gabillabite hard-drive. Yes… that would be a dream.
Can’t say I care for the white PS3 controller. The black buttons and analog sticks don’t fit in, and judging from the picture, it isn’t shiny enough. ‘Cause everything needs to be shiny. OR ELSE.
December 19th, 2009
Yes, the blu ray drives reads slower in the PS3 then the Xbox 360. This is why many PS3 games require the install on the hardrive. Howver, this is not something that has to be done. It’s completely up to the developers. The developers that understand the PS3 system tend to make games that do not require the download to the hardrive. However, this does not effect the how well a game will look. Its what the developers do with the game.

I havent done a mandatory install in a long time. all Major release this year come with “no install”
December 19th, 2009
Now that we have blu-ray on topic, I’ll note something:
DVD>VHS
Blu-Ray>DVD
Each new format just needs time to get support. Tons of movies and tons of games can now be played on a Blu-Ray disk, which can be played in a Blu-ray player, which is now maybe $200 or so for a standalone. If you maximize the blu-ray disk for either a movie or a game, it has the potential to be downright better than a DVD counterpart. This is the case for movies, but not always the case for games. Most multi-plats are equal on blu-ray and DVD in terms of content. But now that developers are starting to use both blu-ray and the Cell to their advantage (often working together), that’s where the PS3 shines. The two games that stand out: Killzone 2 and Uncharted 2. Most agree they are the best looking console games. They are undeniably among them.
As for mandatory install and the slow reading, I agree with twilight, it is up to the developer. Killzone 2 is ridden with fairly long loading times. Uncharted 2, which looks just as good or better, has NO install, and NO loading after you get it started up. You can play the whole thing without loading. Naughty Dog did say that the hard-drive has something to do with it, but there isn’t any install.
Saying Blu-Ray “doesn’t matter”, or even stretching that it is inferior to DVD, is among the most sad of all anti-Sony comments. Right behind “PS3 has no games” and “PS3 is too expensive”. Both were pretty much true in the past. Now, it is just fanboy dribble.
If you have a high-quality HDTV, good surround-sound, and a blu-ray player, you will be PUKING when you pop a normal DVD in. Translation: There is a noticeable difference.
That was my off-topic blu-ray ramble. Argue if you wish.
December 19th, 2009
You know this is off topic but I just got every damn trophy in “The Chronicles of Riddick” except for the multiplayer ones, they half assed put together and they still did not give me the plat. So I have to get all the MP player ones to? That’s BS and the only game I came across that’s like that so far.
December 19th, 2009
Well FFXIII was design on PS3 first and rush for Xbox 360 all the fans are on PS3 now so is obvious the PS3 version is going to leave the downgraded version way behind. I would hate to just buy a hard drive to install games on it that would just suck especially since they small capacity on Xbox 360 unless you buy the 250gb limited time version.
The PS3 version would look and run better and for that gamers will enjoy it more on the rightful home is meant to be. If you unfortunate enough to just own the Xbox 360 i guess you will either enjoy by downloading the game free or by enjoying your ways. If you like me that owns both consoles you will buy it for the PS3 console to have the best enjoy at available in pure stunning HD.
December 19th, 2009
“all Major release this year come with ‘no install’”
Right. That’s why I still have 1.3 GB on my hard drive from Infamous in game data.
December 19th, 2009
“available in pure stunning HD”… pure “stunning” 720p that is… lol.
December 19th, 2009
hence dvd 9 is cheaper then blu ray but on this particular game wont m$ be shelling out more money since it will have multiple discs…look to the future for the 360 ladies and gentlemen. “you get your copies of final fantasy xlll” haha i miss bashing the xbox…
December 19th, 2009
I can’t wait for this game to come out in the USA.
December 20th, 2009
yeah most xbox owners have a small 20gb hdd so installing game 4them suck we ps3 owners dont have any problems since we can have up to 500gb hdd n blu ray holds 50gb also we get games like gt5 god3 in stunning 1080p hd graphics. i feel sorry if u own a xbox sorry.
December 20th, 2009
People Multiple disk mean nothing when you consider that 360 owners have the option to install to the HD. Also when this game releases on Games on Demand there will be no disk whatsoever.
December 20th, 2009
The only thing Xbox 360 needs is a rewind and fast forward function for music operations, blue ray, a less nerdish online critique, FULL FUCKEN BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY, the ability to read/copy/transfer 99.9% of all video/media/photo formats, and a FAIR online option (Xbox Live Bronze perhaps?) that allows users to pay ONLY for the amount of online gaming usage consumed.
Due to my hectic schedule I only get to play my 360 once every two weeks or so. And without Gold I can’t enjoy the online experience with my friends. And I refuse to pay for a service that I won’t get the full usage out of. It’s just not right.
On the other hand PS3 suits my needs that 360 lacks. Microsoft, take heed to my words. You’ll make alot of HAPPY customers if you would take my ideas into consideration.
If not then I hope you FUCK yourself all the way down st. nick street you bloody bastards.
December 20th, 2009
Final Fantasy XIII can be purchase online it has English subtitles. Go buy it now and get all the trophies fast. We all know the PS3 version is what people want and will buy too bad Xbox 360 owners are just going to pirate the game since multiple disc and downgraded graphics and sound sucks. Microsoft is to blame not Square-Enix.
Xbox 360 needs Blu-ray Disc and third party HDD plus a free online service or a reliable pay one. Also i would love a whole brand new menu similar to the one Sony made. Also i would like the ability to download any media from my flash card and store on my small HDD. I would like more reliability. My #1 wish is for Microsoft ot make games other then Forza and Halo for them to care like Sony.
December 20th, 2009
“Microsoft is to blame not Square-Enix.”
Yes, Microsoft is to blame for bringing us what was once a hardcore PS3 exclusive… lol.
PS3 needs PS2 BC and trophies for all of their games instead of just this year’s and future releases. Also I would love to be able to play Netflix without having to remove my game disc like 360 has. Also I would like the ability to download PS2 games on demand like I have with XBox Originals. I would like more reliability online (just accessing the PSN store and my friends list… sheesh). My #1 wish is for Sony to release it’s games on time like Microsoft instead of years later, and also at least the same graphics/gameplay in all multiplatform titles instead of worse… not the kind of thing I would expect from a “future proof” machine… lol.

December 20th, 2009
Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:
That’s Konami’s job not Sony. There’s not going to be any premium packages. I would love to see more remastered PS2 games like the God of War Collection especially the GTA and SOCOM series.
December 20th, 2009
why is that ivan?? premium is sony’s best option to make money and make the psn look more attractive to many gamers…i cant remember if i said this be4 but sony will give the gamer an option to buy the package and it won’t affect the free online gaming and such…it just adds more to what the free psn offers as of now

December 20th, 2009
Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:
Yes Kotaku did at first i thought it was Sony, those bastard are smart to get traffic with lies. Sony would never charge for most of those things especially not cross chat.
December 20th, 2009
i think EA had something to do with cross game chat which is why sony couldnt include it with their big makeover patch that happened recently..it should be free but it’s not with xbl so cant complain if sony would charge
December 20th, 2009
Kevo/Sir_Chubs_Alot08:
The EA was another lie too. The reason for no cross chat is because of patent issue. For Sony to add that feature they either pay royalty or create a whole new one from ground up for themselves.
December 20th, 2009
I suppose Microsoft did the right thing and patented some of their ideas. Must of got sick of Sony ripping them off.

December 20th, 2009
Ah crap, let me try again.
Why would that be the reason to hate on a game if it’s accessible on one of his systems?
Need coffee….
December 20th, 2009
@ CarlB
I really doubt FFvXIII will turn out like Dirge of Cerberus, because Dirge had Takayoshi Nakazato as the director while Tetsuya Nomura and his team, who made Kingdom Hearts, are working on FFvXIII.
And about Haze/Lair. The media was hyping the games more than actual people, just like Killzone 1, when they compared it to Halo. Also, what the hell is wrong with Dissidia? They have over a millon sales in Japan alone.
December 20th, 2009
The dissidia sales that I mentioned Is actually an old figure. Don’t feel like looking up more info.
December 20th, 2009
“why hate so early then?”
And where did you see any “hate” roca? I’m just saying it doesn’t even have a release date yet, and even if it did we won’t know what it’s like until we actually play it. There really isn’t any need at the moment to throw it in 360 only owner’s faces like it’s the end all be all to the FF experience.
@Sorral,
I hope your right. And about Haze/Lair, I saw just as many PS3 fanboys talking about 360 owners being jealous because it was “only coming out on the PS3″ as I did media outlets hyping the games.
Also, who the hell said there was anything “wrong” with Dissidia? I just said it wasn’t the great resurgence for PSP that it was talked up about being. I also just saw the 79 review for it on Metacritic, which means it has “generally favorable reviews” for it… pretty good. Of course, only 90 or above seems to really count for Roca as worth mentioning because it is “easier” to make games in this range… wait a sec… did you just make a sales argument for PSP?… lol.
December 20th, 2009
“There really isn’t any need at the moment to throw it in 360 only owner’s faces like it’s the end all be all to the FF experience.”
Well that’s what happened when FFXIII was a PS3 exclusive. It went from being a massive must have system seller to a meeh, just by being ported to the 360.
If FFXII Vs is really that good and if it doesn’t end up on 360 also it may be worth getting a PS3 for. By the time it’s released the PS3 will be down to $150 anyway.
December 20th, 2009
ive never really gotten into FF, is thirteen meant to be good? will it be worth the wait? also good to hear avp isnt banned in oz, will anyone be getting it when its out in feb?
December 20th, 2009
I’m a RPG tragic, so I am hoping this is going to be good.
December 20th, 2009
Get a gameboy and get the gameboy FF games if you haven’t already. It will help waste the time until XIII comes out in America.
December 20th, 2009
Do retailers still sell gameboys?
December 20th, 2009
I bet some stores like gamestop still have some used ones. Or just get a fat DS. They are pretty cheap.

@ CarlB
I don’t know if you’re just being funny or not, but copying the way I write with serves no reason unless you’re making fun of me which is childish to do. No, I’m not mad, just saying.
Haze/Lair were hyped by the media first. Lair isn’t all that bad anyway, especially if you manage to use the sixaxes well. They did make an update to use the sticks instead as well.
I wasn’t making as sales argument as much as pointing out that dissidia is actually “the second coming” for the psp like what you were calling it. Crisis Core did the same thing when it came out.
Not talking about the western market here.
December 20th, 2009
@ Harry
amazon sells gameboy advance micro if you don’t mind not being able to play gameboy color games.
I bought the 20 years annivesary one. Very neat and the screen is the best between all the gameboy versions.
December 20th, 2009
Lair is a great game if you download the update.
December 20th, 2009
I remember GameBoy Micro. I believe it came out like a few months before the DS. I guess Nintendo wanted to squeeze the cash cow one more time before the DS.
December 20th, 2009
We getting the most Final Fantasy games 3 one multiplaform in some part of the world except Japan. Two exclusives and one made as the best version for PS3 FFXIII.
Xbots are just jealous.
December 21st, 2009
“Not talking about the western market here.”
Yes, I understand the PSP is still a blip on the radar in Japan as well when compared to the DS.
Haze, Lair, Vs., any PS3 exclusive is and always will be hyped by PS3 fanboys as “teh” exclusive system seller even if it is months/years before release.
Ivan, last time I checked, Vs. is the only exclusive for PS3, and it still doesn’t even have a release date for PBots like yourself to brag about. At least GT5 does… though it mysteriously keeps getting pushed back… maybe by sometime next gen both of these will finally be out. Sorry XIII isn’t still a PS3 exclusive… Ivan? That really would have been something to brag about… sorry.
“By the time it’s released the PS3 will be down to $150 anyway.”
I’m guessing that’s what… 2012/13 time frame? Nice.
December 21st, 2009
Versus will be out sooner than you think. the game is on schedule and have not been delay because MS decided to write a big check to add a great game to their crappy lineup and while at it, make developer start working on the 360 version after the PS3 version was already done to delay the game even more.
maybe by 2015 the 360 will have decent lineup that I will be interested in, by that time the 360 will be around $99 + $50/year for XBL
its funny seeing ppl talk about GT’s release date when the game never had a official release date from Sony and the funny thing is that SC: Conviction is been delay many times without no demos, screen shots or gameplay video until E3 2009
The game was originally going to release on November 16, 2007 then went of the radar for a couple of years and made an appearance at E3 2009. then it was delay again from 2009 to 2010.
December 21st, 2009
“the game is on schedule”
What schedule would that be? The make believe one in your head, or do you actually have a release date that no one else knows about?
“MS decided to write a big check to add a great game to their crappy lineup”
Bitter much?… l,lol.
“its funny seeing ppl talk about GT’s release date when the game never had a official release date”
Yes, it’s funny it’s never had an “official” release date since the LAUNCH of the PS3 OVER 3 YEARS AGO.

Man I would not want to be a PS3 is Carls house.
I’d feel like I was gonna get beaten any moment now
Its like a step child, its there, but you don’t really like it very much.
December 21st, 2009
I like my PS3 a lot SW (especially God of War Collection)… just not the claptrap that goes on here about it being “teh” superior console. What a load.
December 21st, 2009
SW:
I know LoL.
PS3 is the most powerful gaming system Xbots owners have to come to term and let the true kick in and stop the denial.
December 21st, 2009
Thanks SW you not the only noticing it
December 21st, 2009
Yes, my PS3 certainly took some “punishment” when I got both God of War Collection platinums before anyone else here… did you get those Uncharted 2 platinums yet roca or Ivan? Slowpokes… lol.
December 21st, 2009
When you own a game you don’t feel the need to play it at that pace.
For example. You’re 2% through Demon’s Souls.
December 21st, 2009
well…im not always in a rush to finishing my games like you because I own them I dont rent them like you. so I have all the time in the world to get the trophies for it.
and I enjoy the game for what they are not just to score a extra platinum trophy. Im guessing thats why you dont play online games because it will daley your trophy hunt and it will take too much time from your lovely rental service.
I also got a life and I split my time between family, work, gaming, friends, movies and girlfriend
December 21st, 2009
“When you own a game you don’t feel the need to play it at that pace.”
I think certain games just appeal more to me and I naturally play through them faster, God of War Collection and Uncharted 2 were those kinds of games for me… I just couldn’t put them down once I started, they were so fun. I can understand if you or roca feel differently.
Demon’s Souls is just a lot slower paced game for me, but it is great you found enough time to get that platinum so quickly roca (it obviously requires a ton more time and effort than the previously mentioned games or what I have had available in my life recently – so congrats!)… and since I may not have a “lovely” rental service (that saves me about $1000+ at least every year) in Okinawa, I thought it would be a good purchase for whenever I am off duty, not reading/studying, tied up with girlfriends, hanging with my friends, talking to family, or watching movies. Cheers.

“Im guessing thats why you dont play online games because it will daley your trophy hunt and it will take too much time from your lovely rental service.”
No, actually I’m not into online games because they are primarily shooters, which is a genre I’m really not into as much as others like RPG, strategy, action, adventure, etc., though I do enjoy those types of games occasionally. But you would know this if you actually had a 360. Additionally the crowd I meet online is not really all that congenial, whether they are singing into their mic, cursing/tossing out racial slurs and insults, exploiting glitches/camping, or turning off their system/logging out just before you win. Not really something I like dealing with in a genre that is really not top on my list. Sorry to disappoint.
December 21st, 2009
@Carlb
look into White Knight Chronicles. The online features described in that game sound like something that me be right up your alley.
My issues with trophies is that some games make them tedious. I figured I’d plat R+C since most of the trophies are stuff you would do in the game anyway, but some of the optional stuff is getting in the way.
December 21st, 2009
I agree. Some of the more tedious trophies are worth it to me if the game is fantastic, as they give me an opportunity to go through the game environment again, noticing things I didn’t notice the first time, enjoying it again in a different way, etc. However, if I didn’t really enjoy the game that much to play through again, or parts of it, I’ll just move on to the next new game experience.
December 21st, 2009
So, so far you’ve got the platinum for
Infamous
Uncharted
Uncharted 2 and
God of War collection
What’s next?
Have you tried Batman AA yet?
December 21st, 2009
Yes, I think I have one more achievement for it to go on 360.
December 21st, 2009
Borderlands on 360 right now. Even though I don’t like shooters that much, this title has just the right mix of RPG to make it really appealing for me. Also, from what I hear, some great co-op that I have yet to try.
December 21st, 2009
I was thinking of picking up that title for the co op, since I heard great things about it. We’ll see. If my co op buddy gets it for Xmas I’ll more than likely pick it up with a gift card after.
December 23rd, 2009
I can say the single player experience alone is worth picking the title up… very addictive.
