Greenberg confirms Alan Wake on March and Crackdown 2 on April 2010
Looks like Microsoft has an awesome first quarter planned for next year. There will be more Xbox 360 exclusives than gamers will know what to do with. There is also confirmation of the release of two of the most highly anticipated Xbox 360 games within Q1.
The super-duper likeable, Aaron Greenberg dropped in on Major Nelson’s regular podcast to hype up the Xbox 360 2010 Q1 game lineup. Greenberg stated that starting in January there will be AAA Xbox 360 exclusives every month in the first quarter. He even lists them out during the podcast.
Here is the breakdown of the list:
Mass Effect 2 – January
Splinter Cell: Conviction – February
Alan Wake – March
Crackdown 2 – April
He also mentions that Halo: Reach and Fable 3 will be coming out later in the year, most likely holiday timeframe.
He states:
Starting in January we have like a AAA exclusive title pretty much every month for the first half of the year such as Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell:Conviction, Alan Wake and Crackdown 2, we also know we have Halo:Reach and Fable 3 coming later that year.
Probably my most anticipated on that list is Alan Wake. I am extremely happy to hear that the game will finally be out Q1 of next year. The game I am least looking forward to is the Sim-like Fable 3.

Yes there will be a heavy lineup for Microsoft in 2010. I’m glad you mention the AAA game every single month in the first quarter but I could have sworn that I heard that statement already not sure if it was Allan but it was more like there is a AAA game coming for every single month next year. Allen only outlined the first quarter. One thing is for sure those 4 game he just outlined is a crazy start to 2010 for Microsoft. I have a feeling that Microsoft is going to be one hell of a beast to compete with for 2010. In fact that lineup will make me forget that Gods of War 3 is even coming out.

Anyone else completely unimpressed by Crackdown 2′s graphics? What I saw practically looked like a last gen game. The game makes Mercenaries 2 look like a graphical showpiece.
I wonder what MS will do to push it this time. Maybe Aaron will give away knobby’s.

I really wasn’t all that impressed with the Lost Planet 2′s demo. The game just feels awkward.
Depending on whats out when Bioshock 2 hits will determine when I get it.
Dead Space 2 is a day one for me as well, and I’m undecided on the Dead Rising sequel.
I found the 360 game boring and repetitive when I played it.

Well here we go again a list of games promised for 2010. If this is like any other year for the PS3 then expect to have 80% of those games delayed, Pushed Back, cancelled and about 70% looking better on the 360 then the PS3. You guys don’t learn from your mistakes well don’t worry us 360 dudes will be right here laughing our asses off at how many of those games don’t come out this year. Any Bets?

Yeah the PS3 games listed above almost all have firm release dates set. The Wand is the only thing I could see being pushed back. I wouldn’t loose any sleep over it if it does though.

MS will hold back Alan Wake on the PC. Probably at least 6 months. Remedy hasn’t been working on the PC version, although AW has been finished since August so maybe they are back to working on the PC version.
If new IP’s equate to mediocrity, than Alan Wake also falls into your shovelware comment CAD.

I think White Knight is going to be epic. The game is about 40-50 hours, plus 50 online quests. also you can build a Sims like hub that works as a lobby for your friends. You’re friends can visit your town and buy stuff from the stores and vise versa.
Heavy Rain and the Last Guardian look like they will both be games that move the medium forward. Not just FPSs with space marines cursing at each other.
GT5, GOW3, and 3D dot heroes will all be amazing in their own right also.

I have trouble fathoming how Pbots can come in here and bash this news. These are going to be really good games. PS3 has some exclusives coming out at the same time, good for them. I’m happy for them. We know all about these games.
On the topic of PS3 exclusives, I played the first 30 minutes of Uncharted 2. It’s a fantastic game, don’t get me wrong, but I really wish you Pbots would stop hyping the living crap out of these games. I came in there expecting to be blown out of the water (ala Killzone 2) only to be somewhat let down due to these lofty expectations. The graphics are beautiful, best looking on any console? …..questionable. And the NPC AI is a little buggy too. I was on the stage where you are in a Turkish museum and you are with some guy named ‘Flynn’ and you have to clear a room of guards. There’s one point where there are 3 guards on a staircase/corridor thing. I took down the first guard, ran down and was taking care of the second guard, looked up, and saw Flynn run into the picture and RIGHT PAST the third friggin guard. What the hell?? All in all, a great game and it deserves most of the praise it got.

PS3 has another killer year lineup of must have master piece Xbox also has some good ones but not as much both have a good year coming but PS3 have a little way more better since we getting more high profile games and awesome new IPs and you know Sony’s IPs always seem to exceed perfection extremely fun. I’d hazard a guess that most of us Xbox owners bought on the understanding that the PC connection ensured us great 3rd party games/ports and that being new to this probably meant that Microsoft’s 1st party stuff would be the lesser part of it all…..although what we did get from them would be genuine 1st division stuff.

I suspect I’m far from alone in not giving a flying f**k whether the PS3 gang routinely pretend to conjure up some of their fake outrage (ie sour grapes) on our behalf.

Not dissing sequels.. I love them too. Just pointing out that there’s an abundance of them. It takes some faith to make a new IP which is somewhat flattering in this day and age.
If there was no new IP’s, there would be no Bioshock, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Mass Effect, Gears, Borderlands, Uncharted, Resistance….etc
I love the fact that there’s a S load coming out this year that may reshape the landscape of gaming.
I must hear the no innovation BS on a weekly basis here when the PS3 is mentioned but you must admit…. Heavy Rain and EyePet are so unique in many respects. MAG is doing something no PC game or console game has ever done. Mod-nation racers are mod’in console releases more than ever with user content on par with LBP, and do I need to bother to mention the high expectation a Team ICO game has on its shoulders after the phenom that was SOTC and the very well received ICO.

I totally agree roca, you don’t need an “expensive” gaming PC, just a gaming PC, and those run about $500-$2000 for a decent one. I just have a laptop with some integrated graphics card, that would probably strain to play these games at even 20fps, and I don’t feel like spending the extra dough for just a gaming machine when I already have all three consoles. Free Realms does run just fine on the laptop I have though, thanks for tip.

Roca our exclusives probably show up on the PC as Games for Windows games but why go on about it when you basically don’t even game on the PC? Only like 2-3 of you are PC gamers and your not one of them Roca. So just go on hating because as long as they don’t show up on a PS3 who cares. And to be honest Roca. I’m going to admit to a mistake I made in which I said 360 exclusives show up on the PC as Games for Windows games. I have discovered that that is not entirely true. Not all are Games for Windows games. Left 4 dead 2 is not a Games for Windows title. Most are but not all are. Even Modern Warfare 2 is not under the Games for Windows title. I guess those that want LIVE support will sign up for games for Windows but we all know Valve will use Steam for it multiplayer and Activision used someone else for it’s Multiplayer. Why the PC people did not point this out to me is beyond me since some of you push PC games so much. I discovered this when I went to purchase a PC game for someone. But I will still stick to my statement that I rather you go buy the PC game since you love 360 games so much.

Fine you can get it on PC no doubt but the question is will you really go get it on PC or ar you just talking for the sake of talking? Also is your PC a gaming PC because if it’s not then your not getting the best graphics and we all know how much you care about graphics. For a decent gaming PC you will need to spend $1500 to $2000. That is way above the cost of a 360. Or you can upgrade your PC which is also expensive. Call it what you want but the game is still exclusive to the 360 because it’s a console and like Carl B said you can’t play it on your PS3.

because my PS3 has taken all my gaming time..I can keep up with all the great lineup Sony put up in 2009 + a few multi plat here and there.
I just opened R+C, which is an awesome game, I still have to finish AC2, NGS2, DA:O, Borderlands, Trine and PixelJunk Shooter. but by the time im done with them MAG, Heavy Rain, WKC and FF13 will be out.
most of the those 360/PC are not too demanding on specs so most current PC can run them with no issues. even though I have a decent PC I will be getting a new one with Windows 7.
dont be so defending because the 360 Exclusive ** are not exclusive after all because you can play them on another platform. and who knows maybe Mass effec and Splinter Cell will come out on the PS3 one day

CarlB the days of having to have a expensive gaming pc to play PC games are over. most decent “regular” PC can play most PC games…specially the ones that are also available on 360 which are not too damanding on specs.

Well it is 7 years old, has tons of bugs, and Mcafee destroys whatever speed it had left.
I tried buying RAM once, and was told the computer couldn’t support it.
I just checked the prices and windows 7 doesn’t seem that bad. In 20 weeks I should have the money for a starter edition.

Might just be as well to take it out the back & shoot it.
Mind you, I gave my nephew my old 2003 PC (an old AMD 2600xp running WinXP SP2) & it’s still going strong with him.
I even found that with CoreAVC loaded and a few other tweaks it could run HD video, although mainly 720p stuff, 1080p retail rips killed it.
That had 1gb of PC2700 RAM and an Gainward ‘golden sample’ Nvidia 6800 card in it.
Amazing performance for the hardware.
I did think about uipgrading it but when I looked into it it was obvious that the people still selling the upgrading parts were just ripping people off – the AMD 3000/3200 CPU was almost as expensive as a new C2D!
So I didn’t bother & bought a new C2D PC.
Might be time to try and get it together for a new one?

My pal is always having problems with his older PC & he usually just does a clean install of the OS and starts again.
For a while his older Pc seems like it’s got a new lease of life.

But I really don’t see the need to do that anyway as I can already play them and they probably look better than a minimum requirement PC. I’ll answer for myself and I’m pretty sure based on things I read in the past, his answer is similar.
I prefer to play on a console, but if I could buy a game on PC rather than purchasing a completely new console that has yet to show any big differences one way or another I’ll choose that way. The key factor is you need to have the PC already or cost justification is out the window.

Alan Wake may have to come off the table as a PC game. All things I see now point to it being only on the 360 with any PC port suspended indefinitely. MS has said in the past that it hurts them to have some of their big exclusives on both, hence why the Gears delays. Note this appears to only apply to games they publish.

Towards roca, yes, towards you or I no, as you have said you already prefer to play on a console, and I have admitted as much in the past. Roca has been adamant in professing graphical superiorities in titles like KZ2 and UC2 and how this edge adds so much to his gaming experience. As well, he has said he also currently enjoys games without trophies very much, and that trophies are not that big of a deal to him. Finally, he has said he has a gaming PC which can handle these types of games better than a console can. So my question is why not play them on the PC he has already invested money into? He can get the games for less money and get the superior graphics that mean so much to him.

also none of those games you listed there are on my top PS3 games list, the only ones I like from there are Dead Space, Bioshock and Batman and all 3 of these game look great but they dont stand a chance against the likes of GT5p, MGS4, KZ2, U1 or U2

Wow, all those games look practically the same on consoles as they do on PC, the difference is hardly noticeable? Amazing. I guess all those “critics, media, and gaming websites” you like to quote must be wrong… lol.
So why do you prefer to play these games on a console? Because that’s really the only thing phranc said, and I’m guessing he probably has the same reasons as I do: achievements/trophies and no proper gaming pc. Do you have any actual reason(s), as you’ve said you already own a gaming PC, trophies aren’t that big of a deal for you, and you place so much importance on graphical quality?

graphics is not all, but I ackknowledge the fact that PS3 exclusive games look way better than anything on the 360. and Yes im a gamer and I enjoy games with or without trophies or Achivemente. I still play some old games (GBA games) on my DS. I play PSP and DS games. I enjoyed MW2 multipler mode even though there is no trophies for playing online.
and I do prefer console games but if I can get on PC then I will play it on PC. I played Gears one on PC for a while but I switched PCs and I lost the Serial Key for the game. I can always torrent the game if i wanted to but i have been busy with the PS3 games so far

I meant to say “if I can ONLY get on PC, then I will play it on PC”
I played Bioshock on PC (before it came out on PS3) I played GTA4 on PC and PS3 (note that I dont have any trophies for GTA4 because I got rid of it after someone bought me the PC version), too bad I couldnt get into it on either platform. before that I used to play Black Hawk Down (MP mode) on PC as well so i dont mind playing a game on PC. if anything I can just use my dualshock 3 or buy a 360 controller and it will feel just like a console game.

I get that you prefer to play on PS3 instead of PC… I’m just asking why if not trophies in games like Batman AA and DeadSpace? For myself it’s trophies, I can live with the degraded graphics in titles like this on console, and no proper gaming PC, but what about you?

Trophies doesnt really matter for me. if it did I would have never play games like Valkyria Chronicles, MW1 and MW2 online mode, etc.
lets say that I will be really interested in Mass Effect 2, is not coming out on PS3 so no trophies, I dont have a 360, so no Achivementes. will that make not get the game on PC just because I wont score any trophies or Achivements? I will play the game no matter what (if I liked the series and if im really interested in the game/genre)
I know friends who buys some of their games on PC (Jofa – DA:O, SW – Batman, Battlefield, MW1, Borderlands, friends at work who bought L4D2 on steam and so on)
but like I said. I prefer to play my games on home console but if thier are available on PC and not my console then I have no issue on play it on PC

oh come on, you (fanboys) can say the same for games like Final Fantasy 14 and I wont be so sensitive about it because at the end of the day it is true. FF14 will be available on PC as well so if you are 360 only owner you can always get the game on PC. period
the same goes for games like Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead 2, Alan Wake, Gears of War, Splinter Cell Conviction, and so on.
and I was not dodging anything as I stated that I have played games on PC incluind games like Black Hawk Down, Bioshock, etc

because of the simplicity of inserting a disc and play. a way bigger screen, the ability to bring my games to friends house, PS3 contoller, being able to sell or let someone use my games, and because I’m usually using browising the web while gaming.
if online play was not free on the PS3 I will definitely get my multiplayer games on PC.
also most of PC games comes out way after the release of the console version. but even before trophies (PS1 and PS2) i have always been a console gamer.

Thanks. But don’t a lot of those titles still have mandatory installs, patches, updates, etc.? Also you can hook up your PC to your bigscreen and use a PS3 controller on it, though I can see the friends house thing if they don’t have a gaming pc. You can’t sell PC games after you buy them or let your friend play it? News to me. If you hook up your gaming laptop to the TV you can also browse at the same time.

Just because the graphics are so much better on PC with these titles and many others, and this seems very important to you, but I guess not that much, and I understand, especially about the whole “friends house” thing. So you said you have a gaming laptop as well?

my laptop is not a gaming laptop becasue laptops are harder and more expensive to upgrade. but it can certanly run some games. I havent used for gaming thought because I mostly use it for work
