Dead Space 2 not out until 2011?

December 22, 2009

Dead Space 2 not out until 2011?Dead Space is an excellent game that received a well-deserved positive response from gamers. And it has a sequel on the way. Unfortunately, although Dead Space 2 is appearing in people’s wish list for 2010, it looks as though the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC game could be set for a 2011 release.

It all depends on whether you believe Gamestop.

Dead Space 2 was confirmed by EA just a couple of weeks ago. At the time, I noted that no release schedule had yet been set. And that could be because the game is a long way off seeing the light of day.

As reported by CVG, Gamestop has the game listed on the three formats with a “Pre-order Ships 1/3/2011″ line attached. While this could be guesswork on the retailer’s part, it’s more likely that Dead Space 2 isn’t going to be making an appearance on store shelves until 2011.

It would be wrong to call this a slippage as no release date means no slippage is possible. Which is how Yamauchi has got away with teasing Gran Turismo 5 for the last two years.

You gathered that by not playing it? Amazing.

  8. SW:

Like a Jedi you have to unplay what you have played to fully become on with deadspace. Thus, he has and hasn’t played it…

  18. Ghost:

But this is not a PS3 exclusive….and we all know the 360 will be needing a few more games to intice gamers with so maybe just maybe they will slide this game in sometime before 2011. We can hope anyways…

  19. Ghost:

    “entice” lol

  20. oldschool1987:

I can’t wait! Dead Space was a brilliant game, reminded me of how Silent Hill ‘used’ to be… without the space lol.

  21. CON:

Ignorant Ivan hasn’t played the game yet but when questioned why it’s not scary somehow has……….

  22. FahKinSuPah:

The first one was a really solid game. I really enjoyed playing it and I definately look forward to the sequel.

  23. Akaro:

D= I want to play the first one… NOW!!

“I don’t why people want horror games/movies. All they do is freak you out.”

=D It´s easy stopstopp. It´s because we want to be scared. We want to feel some fear.

Usually, if a game/book/movie can make you have a sentiment/feeling and keep getting that response for its entirety, it is a good one.

That applies for most genders: horror, action, comedy, drama, etc. Which can bring fear, excitement, glee, sadness, anger, axiety, surprise, achievement, among others.

In my opinion, feelings are a driving force for entertainment. We don´t play games because it is the logical thing to do. We do it because we like it, it “feels” right.

  24. Ghost:

Dead Space did not really give me that scary feeling to much. It had it’s moments like when you play thru the first time and walk by a dead body that’s not really dead and it jump’s up at you. Or when those ugly bastards hopped up on meth come at you super fast and are somehow able to dodge your bullets. I mean you see them way down the hall and look up and they are right in your face. I thought the game had more of a creepy feeling than a scary one IMO.

  25. phranctoast:

I loved the atmosphere they produced. The lighting in that game made it.

Going into elevators and thinking you were safe only to have something break it’s way in from the top was great.

    or

When you were in the areas with no Oxygen and there was no sound which made you look around all paranoid for things creeping up on you.

  26. Barnabe Jones:

Basically they kept the whole game confined to one single area, which made it scary. That’s the main reason why Resident Evil hasn’t been scary since the first one.

  27. Ivan_PSP:

Silent Hill is my game and some Resident Evil from PS1.

  28. Ghost:

have to argue with you BJ. I thought the fourth one (RE)was pretty scary. But I guess your def of scary is diff than mine because Dead Space was not scary creepy as hell yes scary no.

  29. phranctoast:

I enjoyed RE4 and 5 for that matter but I felt Dead Space exceeded both in terms of horror/fright/creepy factor or whatever it can be called.

With DS I was consistently at the edge of my seat while playing. The two other games felt to me like action games with horror aspects, if that makes sense.

  30. Roca.:

RE4 was somewhat scary. but Dead Space wins that category. lets hope they keep the same formula for DS2

  31. ViRuS:

I really liked the first Dead Space.

I winced when walking down those corridors, especially when there are no lights towards the end of them.

The medical wings was by far the most creepy though. Hospital/medical bays make a pretty good setting for survival horror.

Somebody should make a survival horror game in an asylum or something.

  32. Ghost:

Has everybody seen “Dead Space: Downfall” ????

  33. Akaro:

The animated movie? I bought it =). I like it. That movie is ruthless, although the ending is a little anticlimatic.

What about the comic? Has anybody read it?

  34. harry sachz:

My brother in law has dead space on his PS3. He refused to finish it because it scared him too much. I asked him if he kept his tampons next to his purse in his handbag.

  35. phranctoast:

“Has everybody seen “Dead Space: Downfall”

I’ve seen it. its pretty good but I recommend the game first as it will spoil some stuff. My only issue with it was price. The BD was released at over $20 and I don’t feel its worth that. It should have been something included with the game. I hear they’re doing something similar with Dante’s Inferno (cartoon that is)

“My brother in law has dead space on his PS3. He refused to finish it because it scared him too much. I asked him if he kept his tampons next to his purse in his handbag.”

    LMAO

  36. Ghost:

Yeah they came out with one for Resident Evil also…

  37. phranctoast:

    @Ghost.
Was that the one based off of Resident Evil 4 and was CGI?

If so..I saw it. It was pretty bad.
