Nomura hints at Final Fantasy VII remake
It feels as though we’ve been waiting in eager anticipation for a Final Fantasy VII remake for years now. And it probably has been that long. It was almost a year ago that I asked whether this most-requested game would ever actually become a reality. Maybe 2010 will hold a nice surprise in store.
While this is by no means a clear cut admission that Final Fantasy VII is on its way, finally Tetsuya Nomura strongly hints at it. According to RPGLand, Nomura, one of the chief architects in the FF universe, recently spoke to Japanese magazine Gamega about Square Enix’s plans for the next year.
Nomura was asked, “Will 2010 be the year for the announcement of the game of his dreams?” He responded with:
I can just say, that indeed, whereas I’m still working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Agito XIII and a little later on The 3rd Birthday (this year), we will announce other games this year and one is terribly awaited from everyone and often “REQUESTED” by fans and even by the press crew that I meet all over the world.
If that isn’t the Final Fantasy VII remake then I don’t know what it is. Because no other game fits that description. I won’t be counting my chickens until the official announcement is made, however.

Ouch… this is pretty harsh:

Hope that article is wrong lol.

I know. I am not a big fan of extra long cutscenes. I was playing MGS4 a couple of nights ago, and admittedly it was getting late, and a cutscene started and I dozed off, when I woke up it was still going.
December 29th, 2009
I went outside and shoveled (most of) the sidewalk during an MGS4 cutscene, and sure enough, still on after. It was in a new game though so I already saw them all, and I skipped all of them so far, but I knew that this one was extra long, so I did a little field test…
Maybe I’ll try buying groceries or going out for dinner next…

“and a cutscene started and I dozed off”
@Harry and Saber,
Glad to know I wasn’t the only one

Nope they are VERY long lmao. Some go on over an hour! Great 1st time watching, skip on other play throughs tho.
December 29th, 2009
haha maybe go fishing?
i’m still trying to get a hang of the CQC, I haven’t had a good read of the manual yet, which is probably my problem. For example, I knocked someone out, and then shook him and woke him up.

some of them were just too memorable. I wished I could record them somehow.
but yeah I remember beat MGS4 at 1am and having to go to work the next day, the ending was freaking long but it explained alot of thing for the MGS fans. I ended up going to bed at around 3am

I know FF7 is bound to happen (because it will be like printing money for Sony and S.E) but then again this mysterious game could be Kingdom Hearts 3.
he also mentioned (last week) that his team have upgraded the FFv13 engine so much there is no difference between CGI and realtime graphics which sounds pretty impressive as we all know how good FF’s CGI look

“A report from Japanese outlet Impress Watch states Sony is considering several options for the design of the ‘PlayStation 4,’ including scrapping the Cell design entirely and moving towards a traditional PC multi-core processor.”
I wonder why they would do that…
“While the PlayStation 3’s Cell processor has its advantages over the competition, many third-party developers still seem to be having difficulty programming for it, as recently seen with SEGA’s Bayonetta port. Whatever they choose to do, though, it’s refreshing to see Sony focusing on being more developer-friendly for the future.”
Could help.

well… i guess that would rule out BC for PS4 if they’re not going with the cell.

We already know that Square worked on FFVII in the form of the tech demo for PS3. That was 2 years ago. I seriously doubt that they were just making a tech demo. Maybe they started off as such and it turned into more, but I doubt it ended up as just a tech demo.
@Roca
I played through MGS4 once and it was one of the best movies I have ever seen lol. I know what you mean about recording some scenes to watch again. You could always check youtube.
This is one of my fav scenes

Vamp vs Raiden = Dance fighting FTW!

I liked all cutscenes except the BS on the plane. I really didn’t need to plane ride to be the actual time it took.lol. They did that too much imo.
As for FF7… Not holding my breath.
Roca’s probably correct and it’s the next Kingdom Hearts.

we’ll proably hear something on FF7 remake after the team is done working on FFv13, Agito, and 3rd Birthday.

I never played a Metal Gear before MGS4. Before popping it in, the longest cutscene I’ve ever seen was the intro to Banjo Tooie. The plane stuff made me sleep, and the egg stuff made me scratch my head. I still have no idea what the hell “FOXDIE” is supposed to be. The only thing I really cared about in the game was hiding in lockers and intentionally getting caught, choking guys, and trying my best not to have to crouch and see Snake’s old ass in my face.
Nontheless, I admired its cinematic value. The whole ending part in Shadow Moses was pretty sweet, and one of the best cutscenes I’ve seen. I’m still not finished the game.
As for Final Fantasy, I never played one in my life.

is a virus lol
I believed that was what make snake age so fast
December 29th, 2009
That’s as much as I could get out of it… then all of a sudden they are saying stuff like “you don’t actually have FOXDIE” or “FOXDIE is not responsible for your aging” or something along the lines of that, mixed with nanomachine gibberish… that’s about when I quit trying to follow the story…
December 29th, 2009
haha, there is a whole Metal Gear Solid encyclopedia on the PSN.
December 29th, 2009
@Saber
FOXDIE is one of those things that you have to have played previous MGS games to really understand.
Roca is right when he said it’s a virus, but there is more to it than that. It’s actually comprised of nanomachines, like the ones used/mentioned throughout MGS4. It is used to kill people but FOXDIE doesn’t kill indiscriminately, it is programmed to kill specific genetic patterns, thereby only eliminating certain people and not everyone else. Naomi mentions this much in MGS4.
December 29th, 2009
did someone on MGS1 had the FOXDIE virus and was killed by it?
December 29th, 2009
I hope it happens i still have the FFVII for disc in mint condition. Also it should be only for PS3 duh.

Roca.:
That’s pretty cool i think i seen something call the database it was on my HDD saved.
I want a remake for Final Fantasy VIII and Vagrant Story.

“I want a remake for Final Fantasy VIII”
If that happens to bring a full orchestrated version of “The Extreme”, I´m all for it.
December 30th, 2009
@ Roca:
Snake didn’t age rapidly due to the Foxdie. It was the fact that he’s a genetic copy of Big Boss so his celss became unstable and caused him to age rapidly.
The Foxdie is just something to give Snake a bad day on top of his arthiritis lol.
December 30th, 2009
@Ivan
Vagrant story was an awsome game. I would love a remake too, or even a rerelease on PSN would be fine. Unless of course its already up.. in that case i would need to go buy it now
@Roca
I am pretty sure 3 people died in MGS1 from FOXDIE. They got it from contact by Snake. The Darpa Chief, Someone other guy, and Liquid died from FOXDIE
December 30th, 2009
FahKinSuPah: “in that case i would need to go buy it now”
its only available on the European PSN store.
and Thanks, now i remember it was the Darpa Chief who die because of it. I already Knew about Liquid.
