Unless you live under a rock in the middle of a Monty Python sketch then you’ll know that Tiger Woods isn’t having a good time of things at the moment. Amidst allegations of serial adultery, he had a strange car crash and then announced he was taking a sabbatical from golf. What has this got to do with gaming? Not much, except that EA pay the man a bucketload of cash to endorse its annual PGA Tour Golf games.

Uncharted 2 is an absolute gem of a game. It looks fantastic, plays like a dream and is probably the best game on the PS3. It consequently gained great reviews and is winning end of year awards such as the VGA’s Game of the Year. However, sales are wholly unimpressive, and this is troubling king of the crystal ball Michael Pachter.

There has been very little information about Splinter Cell Conviction after E3 this year. In a surprising reveal, it seems like a demo of the game will be coming out in January, which is only a few weeks away.

God of War III is said to be the most anticipated game to date. Actually it was voted so by the gaming community as evident from the Spike VGAs last night. If gamers think that it looks good now, they will be blown away by the final product.

The Spike Video Game Awards show aired today with tons of new game announcements and awards handed out. It was great seeing the developers get the recognition that they deserve. It was also amusing to watch celebrities who have no clue what they are presenting jabber on stage.

Expansion packs and DLC have become the new testing ground for the next step in iterative video game development. Expansion packs, if successful could save studios millions of development dollars. However, the only problem is that it hasn’t been too successful yet.

When Sony launched the PS3, it reportedly cost $800 to manufacture each unit. That was much more than the console was being sold for, and made price cuts difficult. However, it appears now that the hardware and manufacturing costs have been reduced so much that the company is almost breaking even on each unit sold, even at its recently-reduced price.

Recently the NPD sales report came out and it looks like all platforms are doing a smashing job across the board. The top performer by no surprise in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The game sold a little over 2:1 on Xbox 360 compared to the PS3.
