Ubisoft Uplay a good idea that benefits gamers

Ubisoft Uplay a good idea that benefits gamers Ubisoft has been working on a new program to strengthen brand loyalty and to reward dedicated gamers. The program is actually quite good and is something other publishers including Sony and Microsoft should take a good look at.

Uplay is similar to Trophies or Achievements but with a publisher focused twist. The more Ubisoft titles you play with Uplay support, the more points you can earn. In turn these points can be used to download free DLC.

I recently finished Assassin’s Creed II for the PS3 and got to test out Ubisoft’s Uplay service for it. After completion of the game and meeting all objectives, I was able to earn 110 points from Assassin’s Creed II. In the Uplay store, which can be accessed via in-game, I noticed some rewards I could redeem already.

Probably the best reward available currently is the option to download an entire Assassin’s crypt location within Assassin’s Creed II at the cost of 40 points. The new crypt location should provide one to two hours of additional gameplay to Assassin’s Creed II even after completing the main game.

I’m honestly looking forward to purchasing future Ubisoft titles such as Splinter Cell: Conviction in order to accumulate more points. I can also use points accumulated within Assassin’s Creed II to download stuff for Splinter Cell: Conviction. This is a fantastic idea both Sony and Microsoft should be looking at as well.

I’m so glad you posted this article. That’s what I’m always thinking too Sony will benefit more by giving us a reward program for getting trophies they should have a something for HOME and games. This is just awesome being able to buy movies or DLC or even full games by just earning in-game points.

Even MS could benefit from something like that. We get a weekly deal for gold members and the last 15 days have had some really sweet deals going on. I just happened to pop online yesterday and saw that Battlefield 1943 was on sale for somewhere less than 600 mS points. I think the it was like 560 but i can’t remember right now. I only wished I would have popped on and checked every day

Castle Crashers was 50% off the day before I got that one. I knew about the battlefield being on sale yesterday but I guess I missed out due to being busy.

I agree 100%. I thought the U-Play was really well done and pretty beneficial.

When most publishers offer day one DLC for purchase, I thought it was really refreshing to see a publisher giving out content for free.

I bought castle crasher on day one. fun game lol. Just kinda sucked that it had so many issues with online play right away and it took weeks to get a working patch. It was fun for awhile but with stupid little things like it taking way too long to level up i got tired of it
