EA: New Medal Of Honor not inspired by Modern Warfare – Uh huh, of course not

EA: New Medal Of Honor not inspired by Modern Warfare - Uh huh, of course notMedal Of Honor is a game series set in World War II. Right? Until now, yes. But the new game is bringing the series bang up to date by being set in modern day Afghanistan. I wonder where EA got the inspiration from?

They didn’t get the idea from Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, apparently. At least not according to executive producer Greg Goodrich and senior creative director Richard Farrelly. According to Koku Gamer, the two execs were asked what the development team’s reaction was to the controversial airport level of Modern Warfare 2. Farrelly simply said:

I don’t think they’ve played it.

But Goodrich went on a rant which sounds just slightly defensive against possible accusations that the new Medal Of Honor could have been inspired by the success of the Modern Warfare games, spitting:

Modern Warfare 2 wasn’t even out when we started development on the game … When I use honor, respect, authenticity and words like that, I’m not even thinking about the other games that are out there. Our focus is just on Medal of Honor. Those things have always been there. Those are the core tenets to the series.

When asked about the switch from World War II to the present day, Farrelly added:

Medal of Honor is not a World War II franchise. We’re not tied to any specific time frame.

Not now you’re not, no, but you have been until this game. So that excuse doesn’t cut it.

I actually don’t care whether EA is attempting to clone the Modern Warfare games with the latest Medal Of Honor. If it’s good then I’ll buy it, if it’s crap then I won’t. But what’s with the defensive denial nonsense? I sense a slight feeling of corporate guilt.

This game is gonna be a good game i bet. I will buy it day one no doubt. Call of Duty is good offline online is crap. EA is here to destroy their new worst rivaled Activision Blizzard. I hope this game destroys the Call of Duty idiots.

  2. Ghost:

If they can make a long SP campaign with a good story and also have a good MP mode, then I am sure all those kids who bought MW2 will also by this. I would like to see them make this more realistic and less noob friendly but thats not going to happen.

  3. Liquid:

call of duty is shit, i hope activision burn in hell

Let’s not be fooled about who coppied who. MOH was out before COD. COD introduced shellshock and everyone went ‘wow this is so cool.’ The new MOH was in developement before this latest travesty from IW. They new it and threw this console port out to the public with all the stolen modders addons to make some quick bucks before MOH rapes em’ This is why IW is done with the MW series and moving on.
