Greenberg claims millions of Xbox 360 Natal units to sell by Christmas 2010
Fresh from announcing that Natal is set to ship before the start of the 2010 holiday season, Microsoft is now making a bold prediction as to how well it will initially do. At least Aaron Greenberg is. And, of course, he’s never wrong.
Natal was announced at E3 2009, but CES 2010 has seen more details about the project revealed. Natal is being designed and marketed as the next generation of the Xbox brand, and will undoubtedly prolong the life of the 360. At least it will if it’s as well-received as Microsoft hopes.
Greenberg told Joystiq:
We think that there will be millions of Natals in consumer’s homes this holiday.
Short, sweet, and to the point.
I get the feeling that Microsoft is gambling heavily on Natal, hoping it will please both casual and hardcore gamers. As always, it all depends on the games being developed for it. If they are sub-Wii efforts then Microsoft can forget it. But if they are truly innovative and well-made titles then Natal really could change the direction of gaming forever.

Wow, such insight Dave.
Don’t hedge your bets or anything tho, huh?

“We think that there will be millions of Natals in consumer’s homes this holiday” And there are millions upon millions of wii’s in homes which never get used.
Puppy kicker might be right, but that doesn’t make Natal any good as a gaming tool.

Dave I would think this would be more credible if you learned his to use spell check don’t get me wrong I read every day but please learn how to spell

Notice pleas misspelt in the last paragraph

I think we should wait and see before passing judgement. MS are putting a lot of effort into it, I doubt they’d drop the ball and produce mini games only.
January 10th, 2010
No matter how many time Microsoft has said that Natal will be for the Hardcore gamer first yet idiots alway seem to think it will be a casual affair.
January 10th, 2010
“Yet idiots always seem to think it will be a casual affair.” You can thank the Wii system for this.
Like Harry said, we’ll see what happens with this. Talk is always cheap. I’m more into gaming the traditional way but we’ll see how this and Ps3′s project turns out.

It could be a gimmick, it could be the way things go from hereon in. Nobody knows this, not even Microsoft. It’s going to be a very interesting time in 10 months though.
January 11th, 2010
Sorry, but I don’t see this selling “millions” by Christmas, unless they bundle it with 360 at a loss, even then it’s a stretch. It would be a good step towards making 3D “mainstream” though… so to speak

Puppy Kicker …. LOL

Toshi
Don’t worry the Pbots have convinced themselves it’s going to be ‘awesome’ all the time every time.
Don’t let reality intrude now!
January 11th, 2010
Very good. you found one negative article about 3D. Judging from last year alone I’m sure there’s more positive 3D articles than negative.
Is it only reality when it agrees with your opinion happy?

ahh its Monday already…seems like HH started his rants earlier than usual
January 11th, 2010
HH was also right when he claimed and argued (for months) that BD was a failure or when he said “Avatar is shit”…. and he definitely was right when he stated “ODST look better than Uncharted 2″
seems like HH has been on a roll lately
January 11th, 2010
Trolling moron.

Roca,
The weekends always go by fast especially when you have to work Saturday. I have to work one Saturday a month and it was my Saturday to work. I hate working Saturdays. Also, my Ps3 is giving me problems. I now have a problem with four blinking lights on the controller. I’ve tried everything and it is still not working. I even bought another controller. I thought the new controller would fix the problem. I guess it must be some type of internal problem with the blu tooth.
January 11th, 2010
@twilight
since you dont have you console connected online maybe its due to the fact that you have updated your system…try downloading the update from a PC, then transfer it to a USB drive then upload it to your PS3.
does you controller work while it’s connected to the PS3? if so, the lastest firmware should definitely fix this issue. I hope everything works out for you
January 11th, 2010
Gimmic ir not I really don’t care I was always going to buy a camera and why not buy the best one. Even if it ends up sucking with games I’m sure there is always a choice not to use it. I’ll be happy to just have it recoginize me, to be able to speak cammands and to be able to navigate the menu with my hands. That is just brilliant. I wonder if it will speech recognition for typing?
January 11th, 2010
I need to spell check next time.
January 11th, 2010
Roca,
The controller works when plugged up with the cable.I’ll take the system over to my friends house to see if the update works. At least the system is still under warranty with Sony. It is a little over two months old. When I called Sony, they diagnosed the problem as a bad controller. I’ll try this first to see if it fixes the problem. If not, I guess I will have to send it off to Sony to fix it.

If the talk of a lunch price around $50 is accurate then I can’t really see any reason why they won’t sell zillions of the things even if they aren’t necessarily the choice of the self-appointed ‘hard core’.
January 11th, 2010
3:00pm (EST) already…one more hour and then Im off this…its been a slow day today
January 11th, 2010
@cad
I doubt it will have voice recognition cause it’s very hard to pull of right especially if your typing message if it does Id say it will be like tom clancys endwar it will have Basic Commands
January 11th, 2010
heh I played the Endwar demo with my headset and my wife though I was yelling at the television.
January 12th, 2010
@harry
LOL same thing happened to me I was trying to talk on the phone to my girlfriend while playing it and she was like “what’s your god damn problem why are you shouting at me”
January 12th, 2010
HAHAHA Robert. I actually laughed out loud at that one.
BTW thanks again for the GOW3 code. It was a really good demo, I thought it might have been a little longer though, seeing that it came in a little over 2.5 gigs.
January 12th, 2010
harry sachz:
Glad to see you enjoy God of War III already well The demo. 2.5 GB remember the game is in full 60 frames per second plus full 1080p, and is long enough for a demo.
The contents of the God of War III Ultimate Trilogy Edition for Europe and Australia.

GOW3 is 720p according to the demo Ivan.
January 12th, 2010
No you see Ivan’s is 1080p, he got it special.
Like his 500gb SSD in a Vaio bought in June 09.
Ivan’s like that you know.
‘Special’.
January 13th, 2010
phranctoast:
The full God of War III game is going to be in 1080p check anywhere.
January 13th, 2010
“Ivan’s like that you know”
HH you are no different
January 13th, 2010
Roca
B*llocks.
You would be right the day you can call me out & prove that I’ve come in here & lied about any of the kit I have ever claimed to have.
You stupid moron.
January 13th, 2010
I’d also add
(cos it’s something you’d always gloss over & pretend didn’t happen)
you would also have a point if I ever rolled in here to simply announce
‘PS3 is shit’
like Ivan regularly does.
You stupid moron.
January 13th, 2010
(ooops, of course Ivan’s comment is always about Xbox…..but you get the idea)
January 13th, 2010
Be careful Roca. He’s about to turn green rip off his shirt and smash stuff.
When in doubt. Name call.

I’ve never been one to shy away from calling a spade an earth manipulating instrument.
Still, keep on trying.
It must at least amuse you.
January 13th, 2010
It says a lot about a person who can’t get into a discussion without resorting to name calling. It says a lot.
“It must at least amuse you.”
More than you know.
January 13th, 2010
4 more worthless post by HH…
HH – “I’ve never been one to shy away from calling a spade an earth manipulating instrument”
but you have been shy about answering a hypothetical question [which has a simple and obvious answer]
go back to what you are good at (and your last resort) insults and the name calling
January 13th, 2010
Oh you’re so right you know!
LMAO
