Can God Of War 3 possibly outdo Uncharted 2 on the visuals front?
Uncharted 2 is one sweet looking game. Seriously. I don’t care if you are an Xbox 360 fanboy or not, you have to concede this point. However, some are now claiming that God Of War 3 is even more of a visual feast for the eyes. Can it be?
As early as a year ago, some people were claiming that God Of War 3 upped the graphical ante by a fair margin. And just a few days ago, Sony claimed the game was only possible on the PS3 due to the lighting and, erm, some other stuff.
Now, Gaming Bolt has tried to conduct a like-for-like comparison of God Of War 3 and Uncharted 2 screenshots. They claim God Of War 3 wins hands down, but I’m not so sure.
The thing to remember is that games really don’t come to life until they are being played in real-time, so static screenshots really don’t do either justice. Either way, I’m guessing Sony will be more than happy that two PS3 exclusives now seem to be battling it out for the title of best-looking console game of this generation.

If GOW 3 looks better then UC2, then Sony has definetely raised the bar again. GoW 3 should be an absolute masterpiece.

Not arsed if it looks better than Uncharted at all! As long as it does look good and is at least half as epic as GOW2 which to me is easily the best PS2 game ever made. But I think this will be the best game of 2010 to me, this is my sort of game

the demo was a early built of the game and it looked just as good as U2 if not better…they said the full game will look way better than the Demo. I guess we are going to have to wait and see

Damn Sony is going to destroy Microsoft with their console and games they are just unrivaled. God of War III looks amazing so is true no doubt about it and the graphics will just get better and better. PS3 is a beast.

He still produced GOW2. He left Sony and opened up Eat Sleep Play after the release of Calling All Cars which was his last Santa Monica title.
He started a studio with some people from Incognito, which were the same Twisted Metal people that will be working on the next one (crosses fingers).

Sony didn’t got rid of him he left to make his own company Eat Sleep Play with his fellow team mate Scott Campbell. He still making games now exclusively to PlayStation consoles like Libghtbox Interactive fellow teammates.

Read this article. Also highly recommended for the any Xbot to read. God of War III surpasses UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves graphically. Only the PlayStation 3 has this amazing games.

Saw the pole. Thats a tough one for me as I really enjoyed the SP aspect of the TM series, but I know MP is where it’s at in that type of game and to keep longevity going.

The pole has me worried that they’ll concentrate on one more than the other, and judging by todays mindset, no MP = No sale.
A great MP Twisted Metal would be awesome, but I don’t want to lose the stories of the SP characters, which has always been entertaining.

SP might feature various different modes, it seems they started working on it early, but they know the MP mode is where is at
“During the Sweet Tooth Tour in Twisted Metal: Head-On: Extra Twisted Edition, when unlocking certain information about the history and developments of previous TM games. On feature 18/29 the developers state that the touring mode was to have been incorporated in Twisted Metal: Harbor City, a.k.a. Twisted Metal: Black II, which was to have both Sweet Tooth and Preacher playable and have a full interactive game mode. Of course, this was scrapped as TM: Harbor City was never finished. But in an interesting note, in feature 18/29 they explain how the mode was to work and going on into the traps and end the paragraph with “Enjoy! We won’t go so easy on you next time!”. Thus, giving a possible hint that this mode could very well be implemented in the next Twisted Metal game for the PlayStation 3″

When they showed people getting out of the vehicles I knew that mode was doomed to failure.
I’d like to see some nice MP modes.
Maybe a mode similar to Calling all Cars where you need to deliver a criminal to the jails for points but in twisted metal environment.
They could also do something similar with a ball like Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars did on the PSN.

I never liked Twisted Metal much i own basically the entire series. I want a game like Kinetica made by the God of War members. That game is fucking sick pure awesome.

I’m not sure if GoW 3 will be better or not. It is possible though since GoW has the fixed camera. I’m guessing it would be easier to make the game prettier then a game with a free moving camera.

I don’t think it will be better graphically. The environments don’t look like they will be as varied as UC2.

The demo was definitely in 720p. For that reason alone I find it hard to believe that the full game will be native 1080p.
Even the GOW collection was in 720p.
If it wasn’t possible with a last gen game, I find it difficult to believe with a this gen release.
I would love to be wrong however….

I know for a fact demos dont look as good as the final product (e.i Bioshock, GT5 Time Trials, Motorstorm2)
there was a graphical difference between MAG Beta1 and the Final Beta…..but it is unclear whether GoW3 is going to be in native 1080p.

BJ brought up a good point. GOW games use a static camera making the potential objects that need to be rendered limited due to that fact. They can therefore pump as much as possible into those given scenes.
For instance.. The camera is not free roaming like Uncharted 2 or Ninja Gaiden games.

So that was a PS2 game remastered to 720p, makes no sense to say that. According to Sony the game will in 1080 native resolution.
* 1080p native resolution, no obvious loading times (like Uncharted, DMC4), stable framerate (unclear whether 60fps)
* God of War III won’t have too many weapons and new features. The Santa Monica team wants to keep it simple without overburdening the player.
* God of War III engine is an evolved God of War II engine, using the PS3 hardware to its maxed potential – Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games helped out with some development.
* Real-time damage, blood, gore – the engine can even (probably?) render specific cuts on Kratos, show bulging muscles, and sweat.
* Speaking of bulging muscles and sweat, the sex-minigame is back (it wouldn’t be a GoW game without it). SCE Santa Monica promises “more erotic scenes†this time around.
* Kratos has a new wall-run ability (like in Prince of Persia)

I bring up the PS2 games because they have less detailed textures and it still wasn’t bumped to 1080p but rather 720p. This in my mind doesn’t bode well for the prospect of gow3 being in 1080p.

I’m playing through the GOW collection now. It definitely took me a little while to get use to the static camera again. You don’t see that too much anymore.
I agree though. The dodge mechanic mapped to the right stick works perfectly.
Ivan, the puzzles are amazing in Gow. They’re not that hard, but some of the platforming bits are pretty difficult.
If I die 5 times in a row, I’ll take a break and go back. I usually make it right through.

God of War 3 has a official release date now…the game is coming out on March 16th. this would explain the 1-month delay for GT5…

Puzzles just ain’t my thing unless is Tetris the flash version for PSP LoL.
God of War series is publish by Capcom in Japan weird Sony’s home.
