Bioware: Mass Effect 2 launch day DLC is free
Mass Effect 2 is definitely the next anticipated title on many gamers’ list. With only one week to go, Bioware has confirmed free DLC for Mass Effect 2 to sweeten the deal.
Despite the heavy toll the holiday season may have had on your wallets, I’m sure many of you are ready to spend some more money for Mass Effect 2. I know I will, as this was definitely one of my most anticipated titles of 2010.
With Bioware confirming free DLC on launch day, things can’t get any better than this. It seems like this is a growing trend for Bioware, to release launch day DLC for free. It was done for Dragon Age: Origins and now for Mass Effect 2. I’ve already dug up my save file on my Xbox 360, all ready to continue the saga.
Even though I’ll be getting a review copy from the publisher for my Xbox 360, I’m also planning on going out to buy a PC version to test out my new NVidia graphics card.
For those who have not played the first Mass Effect, having the save file is not as crucial as you may think. As the only thing you will benefit from the save file is additional loot and skills depending on your level cap and stats. Also, some decisions will have minimal impact on the plot.

From my understanding, the game is only DX9c as well.

I have been holding off getting a new card because of how Nvidia doesn’t have DX11 cards yet and their issues with intel.

I will probably be getting this game as well when it comes out. I must admit I’ve been firing up the Xbox quite a bit these days. I been playing the hell out of Bayonetta. You should check this game out when you get a chance too.

Yeah, it is only going to be released in DX9c, which is a little dissapointing to me, as I thought with DX10 being out for almost 4 years now, it would be at least be included. I understand the need for DX9 codepath as there are SO MANY people still using XP, but the DX10 OS (Vista, 7) are finally starting to pry the market away from Xp, and most games at least have DX10 optional.
I only mentioned DX11 since no nvidia card can do it yet, and he mentioned getting a new card, thus, DX11 mustn’t be important enough for him yet. I understand, as there are only about 10 titles with DX11 planned for 2010. My dx11 card kicks DX9/10 ass, heh, so I don’t mind there being limited titles as of yet.

I know what you mean, I had to start working on my wife letting me get a DX11 card shortly after I built this rig almost a year ago now, hah. I started saving up last summer, and bought my 965 c3 and 5970 last november. I probably won’t think about a computer upgrade for at least 2 years now, heh.

I own DA:Origins for the PC as well, one of the reasons I never bothered getting it for the PS3, as I witnessed it on the 360 and was completely disgusted with it’s graphics and control schemes compared to my PC. This is not a dig against the 360, but since it is supposed to be better on the xbox than the PS3 graphically, it was enough to convince me not to get it. To be honest though, it wasn’t the graphics as much as the limited camera control that turned me off.

My box is about 2 years (ish) old now running an old 8800GTS
(mind you, it still plays all the latest stuff fairly well)…
I havn’t really pushed my lady for a new machine, my problem is that there just aren’t as many games coming out for PC as there used to be, and those that do get fucking simplified for the console audience (no disrespect intended). E.g, even Sup. Com. 2 is being simplified, because the resource system in Sup. Com. 1 was supposed to be ‘too complex’….. *sigh*
Still, I’d like a new machine, and a little atom based rack mount server
but its not going to happen, I’m told we have to save

My wife and I are DINKs (Dual Income No Kids) and are both gamers, so these sort of things are easier to justify. The 8800GTS is a great card that will hold up for some time to come, so I wouldn’t be too worried about it.

I saw Daybreakers on Friday night. As far as movies go it was ok. As far as vampires movies go.. i think it sucked.
Anyway… Even though I am broke as all hell I decided on getting Mass effect 2 and I can’t wait for it to come out.
One thing worth mentioning is that amazon is currently doing a promotion where you pre-order certain games (like Mass effect 2 and Final Fantasy 13) and they give you a $10 credit towards another game purchase. figured I would share that with my fellow gamers here on the Blorge.
I think I might splurge a bit and used that extra $10 towards Assasins creed 2. It is income tax time after all

Yeah. I preordered Dantes inferno and Bioshock 2 for that reason. BS2 was really cheap. $52 and on top of that a $10 promotion for use afterwards.

Yeah I just seen the Book of Eli and I must say for what it was that I liked it. It was not the new mad-max or anything but this had a new twist and was entertaining, I like apocalyptic type movies anyway.

The only problem I had with daybreakers is how a certain character plays a puss lol. At least they tryed something new with the vampire story.

Hmm/ /I might trade in Dragon age and get this sooner than planned after all.
I got dragon age last week but the frame rate is dire. .it has what we used to call judder vision in the old C64 days. shame cause it looks like a good game. migt see about getting it on xbox, to see if it’s any better.
