Hardcore Halo fans will be upset with Reach
In an interview with Bungie, it has been revealed that the story in Halo: Reach may take some liberties. Apparently these liberties may upset hardcore Halo fans of the franchise.
According to Edge Magazine via CVG, Bungie admitted in an interview that some elements of Halo: Reach will “upset hardcore fans.†In the online snippet of the Edge interview, Bungie executive producer Joseph Tung states: "There might be certain things the hardcore fans will take issue with, but there will be other things that will make them absolutely delighted."

Apparently, gamers who disliked Halo but liked ODST will also like Reach as development follows in the same veins. Bungie will be experimenting with new gameplay types not confined into the main Halo story line.
Fans of the book “The Fall of Reach†maybe delighted to find source material from the novel within Halo: Reach. I’m actually shocked that there is a novel out there about Halo. Who are these people you speak of that read books about games?

My guess is if it’s a good game hardcore fans will like it. It’s only star trek nerds that worry about things being “canonically correctâ€.

What they need to do is take what made the first Halos so great in the first place, upgrade and refine that formula, and add some innovation. Upsetting hardcore fans isn’t good news.
I still have my bets on it ending up a great game. It would exceed my expectations to be fantastic, and disappoint me if it ended up boring and generic. We’ll just see how Bungie plays their cards with this one.

Game Informer had a massive write up on this. I didn’t bother to read the article, since I’m not really a fan.
While flipping through I did notice that it looks like they finally brought the games graphics up to speed. After 3 releases, Halo finally looks like a current gen game (at least from the screens I saw).

@ ncaissie: I’m actually beasting out all the Star Treks atm. Done all Next Gen amd DS9, I’m on Voyager right now. Ain’t watched any of TOS just yet, might be a bit cheesy for me lol. DS9 is easily the best, the last 10 episode story arc was amazing
I don’t think Voyager will top it.

given the art style of halo’s characters and environments, i can’t see them adding too much more to the graphics while still capturing the halo “look”.
i don’t want zillions of textures splashed needlessly on walls. they’re nice for eye candy, but people will and continue to play halo games for the gameplay first and foremost. the bazillions of hours played on xbox live is a testiment to its insanely addicting gameplay.
I’m still sketchy on Pitchford who’s heading this up, tho. I wasn’t terribly inpressed with the last Brothers in Arms game.

Halo Reach will be just fine. You will always get critics some within the ranks and mostly outside (ps3, wii fanboys) I will eventually get it, more so to see more of the story.
(PS – @Harry – m8, we are getting ready for a newborn at the moment and the missus has taken over the “gaming room” with baby stuff. I might struggle to get on psn while I’m visiting home this couple of weeks. I’m back home permanently as of the 21st Feb, so we’ll be good then)

@ ncaissie: I just bought all the Voyagers so I’ll watch them, then Enterprise last, then I suppose I’ll have to watch TOS lol. Already beasted the movies when I started Next Gen. Wrath of Khan was as good as people made out ‘KHHHHAAAAAAAAANNNN!!!’ lmao had to do it :p
Nah I prefered DS9 because it had an overall storyline with the Dominion and Prophets, Next Gen was a bit too ‘story of the week’ for me but still loved it. I just hope Voyager has an on going story line as well apart from getting home.

Because in story mode Killzone 2 is better i online is destroys Halo without trying. The game play is just better. The graphics Lol in Killzone 2 are so good they make history.
