PS3 motion controller launching at same time as Natal, but still no name or price
Microsoft’s Project Natal is currently trumping the PS3′s motion controller for hype and hope. The one thing Sony had on its side was timing, with the wand-like device due to be released in spring. Now, even that slight advantage has been lost, with the motion controller being delayed until the fall. When it will go head-to-head with Natal.
According to Ars Technica, Kazuo Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, announced the delay by explaining:
We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users.
In other words, no games will be ready by the spring. So it would have been rather pointless launching the hardware with no software to use with it.
Unfortunately, Sony didn’t sweeten the news of a delay with any details on pricing or even what the new motion controller will be called. VG247 speculated that it will be called Arc upon release, but that sounds just as ambiguous and unlikely as the previously-mentioned Wand, Gem, and Sphere. All of which suck.

Is better for Sony doing this it help help them even more. Plus NATAL is just hyped by Microsoft is being getting bad publicity for awhile unlike Sony’s new controller everyone seems to like it better. Plus i don’t this it was a delayed since it didn’t have a confirmed date.
January 21st, 2010
I’m not keen on either but the Wand looks the sweeter of the two. I just can’t imagine playing without some kind of joy stick in my hand. I’d feel a right cock with the Natal.
January 21st, 2010
Plus for NATAL you need to mostly standing up all the time and have space to place. Too much shit for a crappy new controller.
January 21st, 2010
The delay can only help Sony gain momentum in marketing and development of a library to compete with Natal. Wise move on Sony’s part, if they can actually take advantage of it. The only thing I can see being a detriment to the Wand is the design of the controllers, possible high price, and paradigm of past control theory. Marketing, hype, and a killer app will be key, as it will be with Natal.
January 21st, 2010
Natal is a lot higher risk. If it flops then it puts Sony with their Wand in very good position to take over second place from M$.

So there is no Magic Wand to slap Jill’s RE5:GE buttocks this spring.

High prices are more of a Microsoft issue Sony doesn’t steal like that. And is not call a Wand there’s no official name yet. And the final product would look different Sony has said that a million times already and they always tell us the true.
me_:
Oh yeah Sony is going for 2nd no matter what and they have extremely good odds to destroy Microsoft’s hardware disaster. NATAL is a huge risk because people need open space to play and be standing up most of the time.

Nah get a Wii if you want to do that gay shit LoL.

I think I know where they going with this delay….
Wand + 3D??? but anyways…a holiday release makes more sense, at least it makes more sense than releasing 3 exclusives (MAG, WKC, Heavy Rain) in a span of 30 days. they will most likely get good reviews but won’t have big sells numbers since they will spread out between the 3
MS was smart to push back SC:C…sometimes I dont get why Sony keep doing this.

Roca.:
Splinter Cell: Conviction was delayed by Ubisoft Microsoft has nothing with that is development problems that they fixing. And i highly doubt that the new Sony motion controller rescheduled has anything to do with 3D. Sony just knows how to make awesome games they suck at doing ads and positioning they released dates. If i worked at Sony i swear i will have at least every exclusive sell 3 times better. Again Microsoft has not at lot of saying Ubisoft has been having problem with this damn game for ages already.

Find some negative things about the wand then…….
A delay to support it with games when it was first announced and given a tentative open date a year ago is a bit of a stretch. I agree with Carlb on this fully.
“(…..and 3D means nothing to anyone seeing as almost nobody has a HD TV set capable of doing it)”
I do, and I don’t really care what other people have. Sony seems gung ho about supporting 3D and supporting the wand. That’s good enough for me. Still up in the air about this peripheral. They have to show something special for it to take off.

I will get a 3D capable 3D TV if everything goes well this year maybe from Sony or Samsung. Xbots are just crying because they can’t get 3D support on their dated low tech Gaybox. Sony’s motion controller has already proven it works unlike Microsoft NATAL crap.
January 21st, 2010
I have full belief that Natal will support 3D displays. It just makes sense given the technology. Same applies to the Wand.
Game size constraints didn’t hold back the game Avatar for the 360.
3D on blu ray has said it will take op 50% more space. Maybe 3D in this respect is cut off on DVD9, but that hardly cuts out MS from having 3D. They could make games smaller, or more compressed.

I don’t think you can find anything (period) independent about the ‘wand’.
This makes any sort of meaningful assessment of what it might be like impossible.
I guess it helps keep control of the PR but it means nobody sees anything that is not managed.
My point about 3D is just fact.
They can release it but nobody has the HD TV for it.
So, so what?
Roca

Space is not an issue for Xbox & 3D either btw.
They’ll just move to multiple discs and/or downloading and everything working off of the hard-drive.
There’s absolutely no reason why not.
3D will most likely be a hard drive Xbox feature & Arcade guys will do without.
All ways around it’s meaningless seeing as how (almost) nobody has the HD TV to do 3D and that installed base of capable HD TVs is going to be minute for years to come.

@Happy
I bought my first HDTV when their wasn’t any HD programming for it. Technology caught up. The same will happen with 3D. It’s getting the biggest push than ever before, and I’m all for it. Of course I don’t plan on watching everything like that, and who would.
That being said, I don’t see the reason for the ongoing 3D hate brigade. If you don’t like it, don’t use it. I’m sure at some point a TV you own will support it.
It seems like sour grapes to me.
January 21st, 2010
“Space is not an issue for Xbox & 3D either btw”
even though you hate to admit, it will be an issue just like i was a issue with FF13, SE had to compress the video and audio and also cut a good amount of content to make it all into 3 dvds
but space is not all,
-the 360 is stuck with HDMI 1.2 (even you said 1.3 was going to be a problem for the PS3, but 1.3 is upgradable)
-the 360 cannot output more than 60fps
-it will be almost imposible to have 2 720p frames runnung at the same time on the 360

Nice.
“That said, we finally just now, 3 years into PS3′s lifespan, are seeing features that the 360 simply cannot match… So, to summarize, 3D on the Xbox 360 is like PSN on the PS3… It’s there (somewhat), it works, but it’s just not up to par with the competition.”
It will be great to have HD3D capabilities via my PS3… though I doubt it will be a great factor for the majority until next gen, if ever… it’s still nice to have. Kudos to Sony and HDMI 1.3 being upgradable to 1.4 (also main RAM being the framebuffer)… future proof in effect!
January 21st, 2010
Lets just stop with the 360 doesn’t have 3D argument. How stupid do you really have to be to say something so stupid when the 360 already has a game that does 3D! Do people forget that the 360 version of Avatar has 3D Capability. Microsoft already said that the 360 does not need an update to do 3D.
January 21st, 2010

Not sure Roca. I believe Offense wise the Chargers were a good demonstration as to how the Jets have to play the Colts. The Colts have better run defense than the Charges though, so it will be more difficult to count on 30 yard runs.
I predict a 20-17 game. And I think it can go either way.

Yeah but you see if they can’t pontificate about PS3 & its supposedly amazing 3D
(a ‘feature’ the vast majority will not be even able to use for years and which may well come to nothing on the ‘small screen’ at home – even with a 50″ HD TV)
and if they have to admit Xbox will have the same thing available anyways
then it’s yet another example of the PS3, despite all the hype abot that tech spec, being much the same as the Xbox when it comes down to it.
They need some intensive anger management courses to get over that one.

Thats the way I look at it. If it doesn’t become hugely popular…who cares. I can use it, and it sounds like it’s easy enough to support on a programmers level where it wont impact release dates or overall quality of the game.

The truth is 3D, regardless of how well or otherwise PS3 & Xbox do it, is not going to be big until the next gen – and with the need for a brand new HD TV possibly not even until the gen after that.
With all that entails for devs not putting much effort into it.
The debate about PS3 & Xbox in that regard is pointless.

One thing is for sure 3D won’t have any affect on gaming in this generation. It’s good to know that Sony supports this and is willing to throw money at it but it is a calculated risk and a risk I’m suprised they are going after as it could never reach it’s potential. If it takes off then for sure the next generation will incorporate it but I’m not spending money to buy a 3D TV especially at this prices and I don’t want to wear glasses. So until Glassless 3D TV’s become the norm 3D can go the way of the Do Do Bird. It will probably have less then 1% adoption and will be many years to make it to the mainstream if ever. I mean they have been trying since the 80′s LOL.
January 21st, 2010
I have no false hopes that 3D is going to be huge this generation. I am however glad they are open to the idea of utilizing it to some degree. As someone who will be able to use the tech when it is released to us, I’m all for it.
They need to start demoing this at stores soon to get the public aware of home 3D.
January 21st, 2010
Hey don’t get me wrong I’m all for it to but I’m just more realistic. If the mainstream does not adopt this then the Price will always remain high leaving it out of reach of the mainstream consumer. Price is everything and Glasses suck. The glasses alone is the nail in the coffin for 3D Tech. 3D without Glasses now were talking.
January 21st, 2010
Hey here is something bigger then 3D and is feasible NOW. ESPN on Xbox 360!!!!!!
The never-ending quest to ditch your cable box may become a more realistic endeavor as rumors are beginning to surface regarding ESPN showing up on Xbox Live. The New York Times first broke the story on Monday, after word got out that the Walt Disney Company and Microsoft had taken meetings regarding the subject. There hasn’t been anything officially announced as of yet, but the idea seems to be similar to what ESPN 360 currently offers–the ability to stream live sports events through a fast Internet connection.
Regardless of the content, it’s definitely a huge first step toward a cable box-less future. When Xbox 360 first debuted, Microsoft was very adamant about making the console the center of living room entertainment. Four and a half years later you can rent and buy movies or TV shows, stream Netflix, update and browse Facebook and Twitter, and soon (hopefully), catch an out-of-market baseball game.
Theoretically, a TV network could reach millions of people with an Xbox Live “channel.” Microsoft has sold 39 million consoles worldwide, with half of those systems hooked into Xbox Live. With numbers like that, it’s no wonder cable companies are looking to game consoles as another outlet.
January 21st, 2010
I’d love to lose my cable box. Only problem, if these companies start noticing lost revenue because of things like this they’ll start charging by bandwidth.
Anyone see the news about the PS3 DVR in Japan that will incorporate trophies? Thats a different take on the whole thing.

“It’s good to know that Sony supports this and is willing to throw money at it but it is a calculated risk and a risk I’m suprised they are going after as it could never reach it’s potential.”
the same risk that Panasonic, Samsung, Toshiba, LG, ESPN, Disney, Discovery Channel….all the major accomplishment in history came from having the courage to take a risk. Nintendo took a big risk with the Wii, and look at where they are now. when ppl believed the world was laying on a flat surface C. Columbus took the risk to travel around globe which led to the finding of the America we know today. the point is, if nobody tries nothing new we will still be riding on horses and dunkies, we might still be playing with marbles instead of video games. if Bill Gates didnt take the risk of dropping out of Harvard Uni. to work on a software development/OS (a niche market back then) then Windows would have never existed and we would been still using switches-based PCs
January 21st, 2010
That’s great ROCA but I was leaning more toward the fact that Sony in every division is taking a lose and Sony is quite in the Red on it’s financial statements. Quite frankly I would be nervous as a shareholder. Try firmly winning one battle before taking on a task that has more risk then Bluray.

Risky, sure and Microsoft admits that but what is more risky going all 3D with no TV’s to support it or adding a motion sensing camera to 39 Million exsisting 360? I know, it’s a no brainer, and yes I’m buying one on day 1.
January 21st, 2010
Roca
Wrong.
Those CE corps aren’t ‘risking’ anything.
The sort of 3d that is coming now is, for them, merely a spin-off of ever faster refresh rates.
In short it’s a side-effect which ‘costs’ (or risks) them little.
(although once again, for some reason you love to prove that don’t know your ar$e from your elbow with this stuff).
When spec-less 3D comes, that will require an entirely different sort of HD TV (and probably only to come when OLED arrives – which for the mainstream is several years off) and a new tech/risk/cost.
Natal is a new venture, true, but hardly a major unknown ‘risk’ as Wii has already proved.

“the Price will always remain high leaving it out of reach of the mainstream consumer.”
Reasonably price DLP’s, Plasma’s, and 120Hz HDTV’s are already 3D compatible. Glasses don’t cost that much and could easily be bundled with software. The price, as it stands now, is actually not that high, considering the PS3 will be doing most of the legwork.
Will it be huge this gen? Probably not, but it will definitely be a “nice to have”.
“every division is taking a lose and Sony is quite in the Red on it’s financial statements.”
While that may be true… it’s gaming division is taking a loss mainly due to diminished demand for PS2 and it’s software, which is to be expected. PSP isn’t doing well either, but PS3 did see a sizable increase in sales. 3D gaming is just one more feature that will take advantage of PS3′s strengths, and there is hardly any risk for them to allow 3rd party devs to work on software with that capability, let alone do a firmware update. They need to push hard right now to gain momentum on Microsoft, and this is just one of many things that will allow them to do that. Not by itself, mind you, but in tandem with more great exclusives, motion control, blu-ray, etc.

Come on CarlB, you know better than this.
DLP and Plasma are niche and on the way to dying out and almost every one of the 120Hz (and 240Hz) HD TVs available now fake it, taking a 60Hz signal and doubling or quadrupling it, they aren’t ‘true’ 120Hz/240Hz sets.

No actually.
You in fact prefer to ignore the track record so you big-up 3D and ignore it’s dire record at home so far and slam Natal with every snide pathetic little dig you can manage whilst ignoring the smash success Wii has shown.
I am open to spec-free 3D being a feature some like some of the time
(but glasses or glass-free 3D is never going to be ‘all the time’ anyways.
Why would watching a soap be ‘better’ in 3D, even assuming the TV studios were interested.
Which they are not.
Some see no need to shift to HD nevermind 3D.
So 3D all the time is not going to happen and that ‘peering into a small diorama’ effect is always going to be a problem for ‘normal’ (32″ – 50″) home screen sizes).
Natal is likely to do well even if they only basically replicate the Wii stuff.
Whether they get a ‘killer application or 10′ for it in the first 2yrs is the question.

Happy kinda addressed this but I’ll say my piece. 3D TV are only on OLED TV’s and only 1 company is doing it on Plasma. As for Reasonably priced, Yeah Right!!!
January 21st, 2010
OH Roca said it Panasonic is doing Plasma.
January 21st, 2010
“Initially, 3D will be offered only in the higher end lines from set makers such as Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Mitsubishi, LG and others. 3D sets will utilize many display technologies including plasma, LCD, LED LCD, rear projection and front projection. 2010 3D flat panel screen sizes are expected to range from 40 inches to 72 inches”

“I rather use my iPod Touch Zune is a Gimmick”
I find my Zune 120GB (previously 80GB) is much better for music and podcasts, whereas my IPhone 3G 16GB I mainly use for (besides phone calls) internet, news, reading books, audiobooks, maps, gps, games, and other apps. I’ll may get the 4G iPhone (since I didn’t get the 3GS) coming in April (and probably announced next month) for when I’m in Japan… should be incredible w/OLED screen, live video chat, dual core processors, more RAM, and a more powerful graphics processor… also nice that the Japanese love iPhone.

Crap! There are several links I can´t check from here.
What about headtracking? Seems like something that both consoles will be able to offer with their motion sensing responses based upon cameras. While not everyone in the room will be able to experience it and it wont work for movies, it would still offer glassless 3D for many titles without need of another T.V. set.
Isn´t it common that there is one player per console in the case of the Xbox360 and PS3? Multiplayer usually happenes online anyway.

My iPod Touch 3rd Generation is $64 i gotta anew for $300 really cheap. I was going to buy the Zune HD until i use one it not up to my high tech standards plus the price hmm. I only like one thing Microsoft makes Windows. But i hate the Microsoft ads i just like the Xbox ads their are very good.
Mass Effect 2 is not that bad i need to play the first one.
Akaro:
My biggest concern with Project NATAL is that you need a big space and always standing up sucks. NATAL is similar to that Tony Hawk SKATEBOARDING game with the stupid board.

64 GB not $64 LMFAO
January 21st, 2010
“Come on CarlB, you know better than this.”
Sorry HH. I am not sure, but I think you may be talking about actual 3DTV’s and not “3D compatible” (/”capable”) TV’s that I specified above. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, because I am really not 100% on the subject… here’s one of the articles I’m going off of written way back in March of last year on popular mechanics site:
“In fact, every single new DLP set is 3D-capable, and a fair number of new plasmas are… A 3D-capable TV. For the purpose of this story, we used the Samsung PN50A450 50-in plasma, which retails for $1200.” Now it’s available for $730 from Amazon.

I also may have a skewed version of what in my opinion is “reasonably priced” for those who are looking at HDTV’s… to me that is anything below $1000.
January 21st, 2010
CarlB:
Good brand and awesome size but great price but 720p is so dated. Blu-ray Disc movies.
January 21st, 2010
@Ivan,
If you have a really large music/video collection, the Zune’s 120GB larger hard drive, combined with it’s software (and Zune Pass), is very nice. If I only had a choice between one though, I would get the Touch/iPhone. Zune HD is ridiculously overpriced especially when compared to the Touch/iPhone and what it offers, unless of course you’ve got to have HD video and HD Radio… plus the ability to record HD Radio… Touch/iPhone doesn’t have that… yet.
January 21st, 2010
@CAD “Reasonably price DLP’s, Plasma’s, and 120Hz HDTV’s are already 3D compatible.”
But are they going to update the Firmware and make glasses for them? I highly doubt that. Where would the profit be if they did this? I’m sure they may update a few but not many.
January 21st, 2010
some 1080p 120Hz are 3D “capable”, maybe not FHD3D but something close
January 21st, 2010
Good point Ivan… here’s a 1080p 50″ still close enough to $1000 to qualify @ $1059:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-PN50B550-50-Inch-1080p-Plasma/dp/B001VSCH74/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264105040&sr=1-2
“But are they going to update the Firmware and make glasses for them? I highly doubt that.”
This is where Sony comes in, all they have to do is update the firmware on PS3, then bundle the glasses with 3D capable games with the option of purchasing them separately. From what I understand, they are not that expensive.

“Pachter: Epic Regrets Making Gears Exclusive To 360″
If you buy into the main reasoning behind the article Ivan, the same rule would apply, even more so if potential sales is the number one factor, to Naughty Dog making UC2 exclusive to PS3.
January 21st, 2010
Except of course for the fact that Sony bought them out in 2001… sorry.
January 21st, 2010
Replace it with Insomniac making Resistance/Ratchet & Clank exclusive to PS3.
January 21st, 2010
CarlB
You need to be looking into those that are true 120Hz/240Hz sets and those that fake it.
It’s not about being able to find a handful of TVs (DLP & Plasma) able to do 3D, they’re no indicator of anything mass-market because they are relatively expensive and/or niche & shrinking with every passing year.
Let’s face it, if it’s not out and available on LCD it’s not going mainstream.
Biggest belly-laugh of the day –
Ivan_PSP:
“I was going to buy the Zune HD until i use one it not up to my high tech standards”
Typical f*ckwit fdanboy, blinded by irrelevant specs and having no understanding of the practical application.
Yeah, cos that OLED screen on the Zune HD is so poor at reproducing exceptional quality colour, contrast and movement handling.
Not.
Way to go Ivan.
Village idiot indeed.
You keep looking at the badge (wooooo it said 720p not 1080p) and ignore how it is a class-leading performance.
Just like some 720p Plasmas have regularly beat the cr@p out of many 1080p LCDs.
January 21st, 2010
Thanks you can buy the Zune HD if you love it so much.

Sony owns every exclusive IP basically and for MGS4 they don’t own the franchise yet but they might as well.
“If you buy into the main reasoning behind the article Ivan, the same rule would apply, even more so if potential sales is the number one factor, to Naughty Dog making UC2 exclusive to PS3.”
It is for everyone.
The day Microsoft becomes as serious as Sony into making games i will buy another Xbox 360 with a full year of LIVE and every peripheral i don’t about the price. The only that Microsoft has not copy yet is my dream i mean a handheld gaming console. I swear if they make one i will pay any price to get it. That’s where they should go.
January 21st, 2010
Yeah, Microsoft should buy out more studios like Sony has.
January 21st, 2010
CarlB:
Yet, They don’t like owning gaming studios they got the least studios Sony has so many IPs they own that can support a entire generation alone. Nintendo goes after Sony Microsoft after 3rd. Microsoft needs to rely on third party studios foe success which is risky.
January 21st, 2010
Yeah, Microsoft should buy out more studios like Sony has.
Which equals more overhead and studios were their game sales suck after they spend 5 Years developing the game which probably gives more reason for Sony being in the Red.
January 21st, 2010
LMFAO what a total moron
January 21st, 2010
Good point CAD. Third party studios have more to gain and more to lose with their independence. They are also much less expensive to hire than to buy out.
January 21st, 2010
Ivan_PSP:
Ha!
The irony of it and the brass-neck of you.
You called someone else here a moron.
“you can buy the Zune HD if you love it so much”
It’s got nothing to do with me ‘loving it so much’ and everything to do with you talking like the ignorant fanboy you are.
You what is probably the best display of its kind didn’t meet your “high standards”.
Oh and then made an excuse about “unless of course you’ve got to have HD video and HD Radio… plus the ability to record HD Radio”.
Given that it gets the ‘HD’ tag because of it’s excellent screen & the HD radio that is kind of germane.
…..and whining about Zune HD prices and then going on to witter on about Apple’s ‘i’ kit is just absurd.
Jeez, their stuff’s renouned for so-so spec & high prices.
(publishing/video/audio editing on the Mac aside)

“You what is probably…..”
should read
‘You said what is probably…..’
January 21st, 2010
Here’s an interesting thought I read somewhere –
’3D is just another incremental creeping “upgrade” to keep prices artificially high’
…….not that the PR’ing gang would ever admit that silly and (according to at least several of the commentators who were there and have seen this on a home screen TV) poor ‘features’ being pushed by their beloved CE corp would ever be mostly about that.
No sirreee.
January 21st, 2010
“They are also much less expensive to hire than to buy out.”
Because we all have access to their financial information
January 22nd, 2010
Happyhockum is never satisfied unless Microsoft is doing the work. I bet if the Xbox 360 was the behemoth the beast super advanced power heart and all this awesome studios and free online he will be in heaven. Yeah i know i will always favor PlayStation no doubt but i always give Microsoft credit when i need to. I myself can care less about 3D.
‘3D is just another incremental creeping “upgrade†to keep prices artificially high’
I bet they said all the time about everything PlayStation 3. But what do you see now it was a worthy investment no add-on it has it all.
I know Zune HD is awesome but iPod Touch is just better well at least to me a couple extra million of users. The only Microsoft products that i love is Windows an original Microsoft product.
January 22nd, 2010
“Oh and then made an excuse about ‘unless of course you’ve got to have HD video and HD Radio… plus the ability to record HD Radio’”
I said it, not Ivan, and it wasn’t an excuse, but imo a valid point. Zune HD is nice, but still doesn’t have a fraction of functionality as IPhone/Touch for my purposes… I can understand if you have a differing opinion.
@SW, not at all… it was just a guess that it would be less risk and cost per the occasional hit game(s) than to buy out several studios over a decade. I could be wrong.
January 22nd, 2010
“a couple extra million of users.”
Shit, iPhone sells more than Sony Ericsson and PSP combined in Japan.
January 22nd, 2010
LMFAO Anti-Sony moved up a lot from just Anti-PlayStation wow. Never Anti-Microsoft that will be Too Much. Biased troll.

CarlB:
Can you have a single day without talking about Sony related things well at least not hating them. Microsoft see’s more credit form Sony fans they we get back. But what ever is your life leave it any fantasy you like. Cya I’ll checking MAG can’t to get it Tuesday.

“I said it, not Ivan, and it wasn’t an excuse, but imo a valid point. Zune HD is nice, but still doesn’t have a fraction of functionality as IPhone/Touch for my purposes… I can understand if you have a differing opinion.”
You’re right. That is why I didn’t get the Zune.
The Zune competes with the Ipod video not the touch/iphone.

@Carlb
“@SW, not at all… it was just a guess that it would be less risk and cost per the occasional hit game(s) than to buy out several studios over a decade. I could be wrong.”
This conversation has been moved to the next topic…..
I’d like to know what Sony spent on some of these unknown studios they buy up.
January 22nd, 2010
CarlB
My apologies, I misread.
Of course the Zune HD competes with the MP3/media players and not the phones – though I rate the iPhone as another ludicrously priced item the instant they attached ‘i’ to it.
Nevertheless it is a fact that the Zune HD’s screen is superb and Ivan was talking confused by specs fanboy cr@p about it ‘not being up to his standards’ because of a 720p screen.
Besides. the best alround MP3/media player isn’t made by any of them.
It’s a souped up Creative Zen (super) Vision W.
(they normally come in 30gb & 60gb flavours only but can be fitted, by someone who knows what they are doing, with a nice Toshiba 120gb drive – incredible price for the specs)
January 22nd, 2010
So what do you guys think the prices of these devices will be.
I bought my PSeye for $20, but they usually go for 30-35.
So if I was interested, I would just require the “wand” itself. The camera seems more like the most technical par of the device. How much could this wand cost? And if you see the videos, they seem to be using two wands a lot.
That makes me believe that the wand will be the cheaper of the two devices. So…maybe $20-30 each……?
January 22nd, 2010
phranctoast:
WTF is Wand definitely not a Sony product.
“I’d like to know what Sony spent on some of these unknown studios they buy up.”
Well i don’t know but i bet is less then what Microsoft spend wasting on timed exclusive like the 30 exclusive deal for the MW2 maps and the huge waste of GTA DLC. Sony ends winning huge profit after.
January 22nd, 2010
“I’d like to know what Sony spent on some of these unknown studios they buy up”
not as much as the Too Human dev cost which was around 100M
January 22nd, 2010
I will continue to call in the wand until a real name comes out.
January 22nd, 2010
Roca.:
How did you get that $100 million? That was a major total disaster.

I call it Sony’s new motion controller.

@Roca
Actually, Silicon Knights (Too Human) is 2nd party. MS doesn’t own them at all. In fact Nintendo still has stock in them.
They signed a three game deal with MS for the Too human trilogy. MS will publish their games.
January 22nd, 2010
MS published and funded the game, which cost over 100M to develop..right?
January 22nd, 2010
good point. All three games may cost up to that. I thought you meant they were a 1st party studio.
January 22nd, 2010
Wiki
“Too Human had a massive development budget of 80 million dollars that was funded by Microsoft”
January 22nd, 2010
The more I look into it, it looks like 80 million for the trilogy.
Who knows if they’ll get made as the first only sold 600K.
January 22nd, 2010
this are the title with the highest development cost
- GTA IV ($100 million)
- Too Human ($80 million)
- Shenmue ($70 million)
- GT5 ($60 million)
January 22nd, 2010
If thats the case I have to imagine MS will just cut their losses and not bother with the next two.
January 22nd, 2010
“Too Human — remember that old thing? Lots of hype, lots of trash talking, and eventually, mediocre sales contrasted with a high budget. A blog from Kris Erickson of Xboxist speculates the future of the planned trilogy from Silicon Knights is in serious danger. Between the job cuts at partner Microsoft, the first game’s high development costs (estimated at $80 million USD over 10 years), and final sales (about 560,000 copies), it’s not unreasonable to furrow one’s brow in worry over the future.”
http://www.neoseeker.com/news/9726-too-human-trilogy-doesnt-look-likely/
January 22nd, 2010
The ten years was mostly due to platform shifting. When they finally settled on a system engine they were able to pump something out. With that said, the engine is built for the second and third game so it would seem like a compete waste not to try and get a sequel…but who knows.
January 22nd, 2010
Too Human was going to be for PS1. Too Human is one the biggest Xbox flops in this generation. I know they are tons.
January 22nd, 2010
hahahaha… ps3 doesnt have these best games: zelda, mario and brawl!! and i think that all war games suck
January 22nd, 2010
Considering how much they put into this game, the sales were certainly disappointing for this game.
January 22nd, 2010
twilight:
The whole game a major flop a huge let dowm a huge enormous embarrassment.
January 23rd, 2010
“LMFAO Anti-Sony moved up a lot from just Anti-PlayStation wow.”
If Microsoft made a cell phone or game system I’m sure it would sell a fraction of what PSP/Sony Ericsson sells… but they don’t, otherwise I would have included them as well. Sorry.
January 23rd, 2010
…handheld gaming system that is… and in Japan.
January 24th, 2010
PSP is the best handheld gaming console ever made is the mini PS3.
CarlB knows nothing you can tell just look what shit he wrote. He was correct about the cell phone shit. Cell Phone game is just a gimmick.
January 25th, 2010
“CarlB knows nothing…”
Well, actually, I do know that I know nothing.
