Xbox 360 exclusive GTA DLC for PS3 – sky is falling edition
According to reports the two Xbox 360 Grand Theft Auto IV exclusive DLCs have been confirmed to be coming to the PS3. If true, this may be huge news for envious PS3 owners across the globe.
Recently, Playstation Lifestyle reported that retail Web site, SimplyGames listed Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City for the PS3 on the site for pre-order. The listing even has a picture of a newly designed PS3 boxart. Since then the listing has apparently been taken down by Rockstar’s request.
Connected Consoles followed up on this story by contacting SimplyGames and recently received a response. According to the customer service rep, the listing for Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City for the PS3 was not a mistake and is an actual product. The rep explains that the listing had to be taken down for a short period but will be back up soon.
I know this news may pop some people’s head but I can’t say that I’m no more surprised by this than news about Final Fantasy XIII coming to the Xbox 360. I suppose $50 million for exclusivity of The Ballad of Gay Tony and The Lost and Damned only gets Microsoft one year. The video game making business is tough and I suppose if there is a viable platform then there is money to be made potentially.
Until it’s officially confirmed via Rockstar take this news with a grain of salt for now.

Well if it’s true then that is fantastic as you will enjoy the episodes. Especially Gay Tony. It didn’t sell well at retail so I guess it only makes sense. Bottom line for me is I just love my 360 and I really don’t care about the PS3. If a game is time exclusive and it eventually shows up on the PS3 then that is great that you will eventually get to play these games. But the bottom line is if you wan’t to play it first you gotta be on XBOX LIVE. I think that is a big statement considering DLC is showing up a year later on the other systems. Is 360 not getting the DLC first for CODMW2 and the 360 version of Lost Planet 2 will have Marcus & Dominic from Gears. All that is on top of what has already been done considering the numerous times this situation has played out over the past four years considering timed exclusives and DLC. Showing up first creates a huge advantage over the competition not just for this generation but for future generations as this will create a mind set that if you want to play it first you gotta to get it on the 360.

Yeah man but look at what it cost M$ to do this. And can they afford too keep shelling out that amount of cash each time for each new title? Are they really making up the amount or more that they spend in getting these exclusivity rights for 6months to a year? They shelled out alot for GTAIV DLC to only have it back fire on them. But I understand why they did it I mean GTA was a major PS brand game and they straight took it over from Sony.

Ghost, from what I understand, MS are supposedly still making a tidy profit with their games division, although I guess we won’t know for sure until their yearly earnings figures come out later in the year.
I think it is good that the PS3 is getting these GTA episodes. I say down with exclusives – multiplatform for everyone!

@ CAD: Yeah but if you want to play Uncharted 1+2, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, Little Big Planet, Demon Souls, White Knight, GOW3, Heavy Rain and a shit version of Bayonetta then you need a PS3. I’m lucky because I’m not held back by fanboyism and have both Consoles. Already finished these episodes 6 months ago, LATD was shit but Gay Tony was how GTA4 should have been, loved every second.

Anyway…As for the GTA4 news.. thats great for the people that care. I never cared enough about GTA4 to bother finishing it, so it would seem hypocritical to buy DLC for it. Although you guys talking up Gay Tony almost makes me want to give it a shot. I just don’t feel like paying $20 for it.

I stand by what I said about the gears characters being in lost planet 2. But as I said, it’s not a deal breaker. I love the gears games but i’m not going to rush out just to get LP2 cause they are in it.
The Star Wars characters in Soul Caliber 4 was awsome although IMO there were 2 problems with that.
1) Yoda is cheap as all hell. You can’t grab him and he is hard as all hell to hit. Kinda gives him an unfair advantage. 2) The whole Darth Vader/Yoda console exclusive shit was planned just to get more money. When they first announced exclusive characters EVERYONE knew that the other character would eventually be released for paid DLC… Key word PAID.
Cole from inFamous would be a cool character in a Starwars game. His powers are just like those of someone with the Force.
I only bought the first DLC for GTA4. If I would have known it was comming out on disc I would have waited and just got the disc. Lost and the damned was good but it’s just taking up too much space on my damned HDD. I would eventually like to play the ballad of gay tony but i think i may just shell out the extra money to get the disc, even though I already paid for TLaD
I currently have my copy of Mass Effect 2 in hand. I should be starting it up soon! sooo excited lol

Well.. when you really think about it MS paid $50 mil for the development of DLC for GTA4 for both the 360 and PS3.
I’m pretty sure that Rockstar already had the assets and everything from the DLC’s already ready for PS3 along time ago. They probably developed it at the same time or just piggybacked it with the development of the DLC for 360. The total cost of releasing it for PS3 is probably nothing or close to it lol.

Yes, it seems that Liquid has made quite an impression one way or another.
Microsoft didn’t get much of a return on this one considering what they paid out on this. I’ve always been neutral towards the GTA franchise. I don’t necessarily hate the game but it is not a must own title for me.

I did. The voice over guy is so bad it’s funny.
But the game looks good. I think it will be monster hunter-ish. It’s basically meet up and do guild quests. Eventually you get access to higher level quests to get better items. You can then use the items/exp you get in the single player game.
Also the georama and geonet things look really cool.
