Killzone 3 news imminent, possibly

February 6, 2010

Killzone on the PS2 was good but not great. Killzone 2 on the PS3 was great but not world beating. Could Killzone 3 finally bring the series to the heady heights it has so far only promised but not delivered? We may not have too long to find out as there appears to be some Killzone 3 news waiting on the horizon.

Platform Nation reports that some signs are pointing toward Killzone 3 being announced very soon, with a 2010 release possible. Killzone3.com is owned by Sony and expires on Oct. 8, 2010. Which would put the game on a possible collision course with Halo: Reach, currently scheduled for a Q4 2010 release.

This would make sense, as any game which can even tilt the bandwagon of the latest Halo game is a must to prevent Reach walking off with huge sales and Game Of The Year. But it would be a quick turnaround between Killzone 2 and Killzone 3, leading me to believe the game would either be a little rushed or that this is all bunkum.

  1. Saber_HAHAha:

I never played Killzone, but Killzone 2 was technically amazing and very difficult (I managed to shoulder my way through Elite). I think the single-player is very good for a FPS despite the bland story and so-bad-it’s-good dialogue. I liked the single player better than MW2s so far, but the multiplayer didn’t interest me too much.

I’ll be looking forward to #3, but they BETTER not rush it. I can wait.

  2. lock_down:

KZ2 was only in full production for 18 months, so late 2010 isn’t unrealistic for KZ3.

Guerrilla will have to put foliage in KZ3 though…we all know a game can’t be good without foliage…

  3. Barnabe Jones:

Wouldn’t it be funny if they tried to milk the kill zone franchise by creating a mediocre RTS?

btw Halo Kart racer confirmed for 2011.

    To Barnabe Jones:
“lol. I want to see that comment thread on kotaku. The site isn’t all that good anyway. It’s mostly passive aggressive, holier than tho fanboys.”

Does that mean your going to take the job of delivering the 3 messeges?

I’m a bit embarrassed about the whole thing because sometimes when I get mad or bored, I start to say silly and weird things in the replys to amuse myself, like quoting Star Control.

I see you made a new friend on your PS3. I wonder who it could be? Har Har! Yes, it’s me! But don’t give away my PS3 name!

I have a couple things to say about my PS3:

    1. Sorry for the cryptic ‘Hello’, but I like to think I’m ‘mysterious’ when on the PS3, like I’m Raiden or Master Chief (I know, it’s dorky). That, and I was a bit shy.

    2. I’m a slow writer, so sometime I may not reply back for days. I may have a *lot* of things on my mind, so I may even forget about the mail.

    3. I don’t like replying on a PS3 mail. There’s something odd about it that I just don’t like.

    4. So Sorry about not joining you In the AVP Demo. You were even nice enough to invite me twice. :( Geez, I feel so bad that I couldn’t have joined you. I’m not sure what I should say or do: I am new to this whole ‘playing with friends’ thing. I mean, Are you going to ask me to play with you every time I turn on the PS3? Because I was playing MGS4 when you sign-In; and it feels weird when you know I’m on-line. And how does ‘invite’ works anyways? And What if there is a unforeseen problem? Like I try to play Bad Company 2, but I always get booted out the map after 5 min.

    okaaaay?

  6. Zoar:

Oops sorry, I made a mistake. Barnabe Jones, wasn’t the one sending me the AVP Demo invite, It was a nobody called muldoon555! Barnabe Jones name is kdiggyd123! How stupid of me!Oh Geeez!

Forget everything I said above, I feel so f*cking embarrassed.

To Liquid: You didn’t see anything!

  7. Barnabe Jones:

No worries Zoar. I was confused reading the first post, but I’m glad you realized it wasn’t me. ;)

As far as invites, if we happen to both be playing an online game at the exact time, then I might send an invite to you. Feel free to send one to me. If your busy with the single player portion, feel free to decline and I’ll do the same. No pressure. I’m pretty easy going.

Invites are handled differently from game to game, but if you click on one of friends names while in the game, you should notice a send invite option. It works just like a regular message.

I’m not sure I can deliver your Kotaku message. I think I was banned from there a while ago myself ;)

  8. ViRuS:

Has anybody played the AVP demo?

    Any good?

  9. RobertCarr316:

    @virus
Ya it’s very fun I got it on my xbox only problem is it’s not one if those online games you pick up and just play like halo and call if duty which will turn a lot of people of it but it’s a great online mode getting killed by the predator was one if the coolest things that’s happened to me in a video game and it’s very balanced with all the classes like the predator is slow but very strong, the alien is very fast but weak and the marines are somewher in between you should really pick up the demo

  10. Liquid:

    zoar

    add me skanger_raver

  11. ViRuS:

    @RobertCarr,

Yeah, I think I’ll do just that. :)

I’m a big fan of the Alien franchise, really looking forward to Alien 5.

I think I’ll like chomping through peoples skulls, lol

And here is the final message I wanted to give to RaginKaGin21:
    ——————–
    To RaginKaGin21:
    “From Adonai2:
I’ve been banned, so this is going to be my last post ever.

So, firstly I like to apologize if I offended you in anyway when I sarcastically said you liked all those bad movies.

Next, I agree with you about how a game can be funny and well-made. But the problem here is, like Interceptor before it, Matt Hazard just wants to make lazy jokes and puns (“The Hate Boat”, “I’m a Hazard to your health”, “Master Chef”), instead of making a deep and believable world like Overlord, or Brutal Legend. Imagine how cool it would have been if you could jump to game world to game world–just like Kingdom Hearts. Instead, We get jokes that pokes fun of JRPGs.

Finally, a low budget is no excuse for Bad story/jokes. Star Control 2 (X-COM and Braid too) were very low budget, but SC2 could still tell a very funny & deep story. In fact, the people who made SC2 said they weren’t payed near the end for a couple months.

    Well, that’s it. Goodbye RaginKaGin21!”
