New Sega console is cheap Wii clone
OK, so new Sega console may be pushing it a little, but there is a new games machine being released with Sega’s name attached. And it even has some of the company’s best known games included with it. In essence, the new Sega Zone is a new version of the Zone 40 and is nothing more than a cheap Wii clone.
There were rumors this time last year that Sega could be preparing to reenter the home console war. But nothing came of it. Instead, what we’ve ended up with is Sega Zone which, according to Tech Radar, is just a rehash of the Zone 40, a Wii ripoff critically panned for its crappiness upon release.
Still, for $50, gamers can get classic versions of Golden Axe, Sonic, Alex Kidd, and Ecco The Dolphin along with motion-sensing controlled games similar (but nowhere near as good as) those in Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. So it might appeal to some people – retro games fans and those parents too tight to buy their kids a Wii.

I hadn’t been to the site today, and was reading the news articles top down. I TOTALLY PREDICTED THIS just seconds ago, even though this story was posted first. Honest Injun!
I think my idea of it being a high powered Wii for a more dedicated gamer demographic, with its own online service, is better.

This is stupid…
I miss the good old Sega. Back when Saturn and Dreamcast were hot. Instead of doing stupid stuff like slapping their once honorable name on a plastic turd like this they should devote time and resources to bring back some more of their back catalog. Stuff we haven’t gotten yet.
Saturn pretty much can’t easily be emulated on PC, so they should start giving us some Saturn games. The Saturn had some really great games, particularly alot of great RPG’s. Like Shining Force for example. Sega keeps re-releasing 1&2 on all these systems but hasn’t even touched 3 yet.

So the Wii is a cheap toy that tries to pretend its a console, and Sega is making a cheaper toy that tries to pretend to be a Wii?
