EA: Dead Space 2 and a Dragon Age: Origins sequel coming in early 2011
EA held a third-quarter earnings call today. The big news in terms of earnings was that the company made losses of $82 million between October and December of 2009. But that’s boring. What we want to hear about are the games it has on the cards in order to prevent losses of that magnitude in the future.
According to USA Today, EA revealed its 2011 release schedule as part of the earnings call. Basically because it needs to show it has something coming out which could actually make some money.
The big news to emerge from this is that Dead Space 2 and a sequel to Dragon Age: Origins are both due between January and March of 2011. A new shooter from Epic Games will also be released during that quarter. Probably Bulletstorm.
Other games saw their release schedules tightened: Skate 3 this spring, the new Medal Of Honor and APB in the Fall, and Crysis 2 and the console version of The Sims 3 in time for Christmas. Which is actually quite a decent lineup. For EA, at least.

How the heck can EA lose $82 mil in 3 months time? That’s what… 27.3 mil a month? Thats way too much. How the heck do you lose that much? Seriously… id be interested in seeing more details about that report.

where is everybody today?
February 10th, 2010
Dunno. Was wondering the same thing myself

lol…I fall asleep on my desk, Kev should be back anytime now.
hey FahKin, did you get Bioshock 2? don’t you think 2K went backwards in the graphical department? I only played for about 10 mins but I was not impressed with the game graphically.
also, I saw that the PS3 version of Dante’s Inferno comes with the Full Digital copy of Poem. and they told that that PS3 shortage is so massive in the US that Gamestop started taking Reservation again for PS3′s

@Roca
No, i didn’t get Bioshock 2 yet. It’s gonna be awhile. Did you get it for PS3 or 360?
This whole PS3 shortage thing is kinda funny. Makes me wonder why suddenly stock is down. I think Sony had some production issues
You enjoying WKC?
February 10th, 2010
Roca,
The PS3 version also gets free DLC included. I think it’s supposed to be a prequel.
February 10th, 2010
I skipped WKC due to poor reviews, I’m still interested in giving it a try someday, maybe I’ll pick it up when its around $40. BJ and Jofa are enjoying it though
I got Bioshock 2 for PS3, but I didnt get to play much of it, that game also didnt lived to the standard of the first game (according to reviews) but it is still a good game overall, it just dont have the fresh feeling that the first had back in 2006.
Sony having production issues? not likely, the shortage is because of the high demand since the holidays. there is also shortages on Wii’s and Wii Fit Plus….Gamestop is also taking reservation on them and prosiming they will get one by the end of the month (Feb) if they have it reserved.

“The PS3 version also gets free DLC included. I think it’s supposed to be a prequel.”
yeah, but besides the prequels & exclusive videos the game also comes with the full poem (digital copy) which is widely considered the central poem of Italian literature, and is seen as one of the greatest works of world literature.
Dante’s literature work are considered to be on par with Shakespeare’s and Homer’s Iliad and the Odyssey (Greek Mythology).

Yeah I know. I never actually read it. Even though I have a 42 inch, 1080p TV, I’m not sure I could read a whole novel on it. Maybe if the text is really large and spread out. Otherwise that will probably kill your eyes.
WKC is great. The story is pretty standard JRPG stuff, but it’s not bad. The characters and voice acting are well done. The lip syncing on the other hand is pretty bad.
Battle system works really well. Battles are a little too easy, but there still fun.
The worlds are beautiful and huge. Probably one of the single players best aspects.
The online quests are great. They start off easy, but get pretty hard. Plus Geonet is like a myspace/facebook for the game. It’s actually pretty cool and well done. Georoma is like an online town building sim.
-Single player is good, but not amazing.
-Online is amazing.
So all together it’s a great game.

I’ve been focusing entirely on the single player, and using my typical rpg strategy of killing everything I see as often as I can. I am lvl 25ish and I just unlocked caeser’s knight. In retrospect, I would have to spend 2-3 times as long levelling in a standard FF game (not counting VIII) to overpower myself to this level.
I am gonna hold off the online play for a few more days, heh.

You’re going to get a S ranking on the first few quests pretty easily. But good luck trying to find the 3 children in the mine without using a guide or having someone show you the way. That hour flies by quickly.
Check out Geonet also at some point. Some of the stuff people post is pretty funny. For example, I learned that people role play (in real life) WKC. It made me laugh.

Add me btw.. my name is kdiggy
Haven’t uploaded my georoma yet. It’s still pretty weak.
February 10th, 2010
what does kdiggy stands for?
February 10th, 2010
Well when I was trying to create a PSN ID the first few things I tried were all taken. My real name is Karl.
It’s something I just came up with. It sounds like it could be a lyric in an old school 80s rap song.

Speaking of PSN I got a message from phranctoast telling me he’s got swine flu. That’s got to suck. At least he gets to stay home and play games.
February 11th, 2010
Yes,I imagine it has to suck having swine flu. Get well soon Phranctoast.
February 11th, 2010
Oink Oink..
Yeah. I’m in fraud on Dantes inferno, treachery here we come. I feel like the bottom of a shoe though.
February 11th, 2010
how far are you into it? I think i might get the game after all since EA is going to make a trilogoy out of it.
btw im loving Bioshock 2 multiplayer mode!
February 11th, 2010
Yeah,
I was thinking about getting this game as well. I picked up the blu ray yesterday because it was on sale.
February 11th, 2010
@Twilight
how much for it?
February 11th, 2010
I got it for 17.99.
February 11th, 2010
not bad, for $17.99
is it a prequel or a sequel?
February 11th, 2010
It is a complete story of the game condensed into a movie. If you don’t want to know how the game ends, then don’t watch the movie until after you play the game.
February 11th, 2010
Just finished the game. I don’t know what reviewers problems are, but that game kicked ass. I just goes to show that if you go into a game wanting to not like it…. Surprise. You’ll not like it.
Pros:
awesome combat. So if the combat was better than gow.
I found it difficult in many places. Was cussing up a storm. I don’t know if it was my fault for not realizing I could use/apply relics which would have eased my crossing so to speak.
Cons:
you die in some of the cheesiest ways possible. A lot of trial and error.
February 11th, 2010
you finished the game already…didnt the game come out on tuesday?
did you also finished the free DLC (prequel)?
February 11th, 2010
I’ve been sick so Ive had time. I opened it up around noon on Tuesday and just finished it about an hour ago. It’s about 10 hours long.
Dlc isn’t available yet. Not until April.
February 11th, 2010
I got the action figure already for free. I’ll have to get this game. That’s why I like to judge stuff for myself or take friends recommendations. Most critics don’t know what the they are talking about.
