God of War III comes to your TV tonight
Tonight’s episode of Gametrailers TV will be very special because it will premiere the the first trailer of God of War III’s production build. The episode will also feature some great stuff as well.
The latest episode of Gametrailers TV on Spike will feature a near-60 second trailer of the final build of God of War III. Everyone saw the awesome glimpse of the E3 build that is about a year old now. Sony teased the vast improvement with some screenshots not that long ago. Gamers will now get to witness the game in action tonight.
In addition to GOW III carnage, some more info about Splinter Cell: Conviction will be revealed. This episode will also premiere MLB 10: The Show, which Aaron Greenberg even admitted is the best baseball game he ever played (MLB 09).
Geoff Keighley will also chat with Kevin Butler, VP of everything about his popular PS3 commercials. You can catch all this and more on the Spike channel 12:30 a.m. PST/EST. If you can’t watch it tonight, you can still catch it on Gametrailers.com tomorrow.

Thanks Mike. Baseball isn’t all that big here, it’s picking up popularity as it’s now live on free-to-air, but this game looks great. Shame it’s being released in March, i’ll have to wait a couple of months to pick it up, too many games coming out that month.

Have an issue with PS3 which I need some help on.
As you know, a thunder storm blew up my modem, switch and 360 last friday. Since then I have plugged the internet connection from the wall directly into the PS3, which works with no problem. I received my replacement switch today, and plugged it in, but there was no connection for the PS3. The PS3 had a message pop up telling me that there is no ethernet connection. I thought that it could be an issue with the switch and/or the cables, so I plugged my laptop into the switch and it connected with no problem.
So why does my PS3 work fine when connected directly to the internet, however it does not when going through a switch? I tried giving it a static IP but that made no difference.

I’ve noticed the same thing, and I also think it depends upon the switch. The laptop and 360 work fine but then I get kicked off PSN. I have a Motorola modem and linksys wired/wireless router and still had problems when I was back stateside. I believe there is a specific list of equipment that is compatible from Sony like Microsoft has, but I can’t find it.

I honestly think God of War III will blow Splinter Cell away in graphics, gameplay, and sales, but I could be wrong. Then again, they are two different genres as well, so probably not a fair comparison… and I definitely lean towards the God of War side.

Yeah I lean more to the GoW franchise also. The first two were amazing. Considering were the story left off, and it’s on the newer console, I’m really looking forward to the 3rd.
I also do like the stealth game play of Splinter Cell. I was really disappointed in Double Agent. But from what I’ve seen, Conviction looks like it’s going to be pretty good.

Thanks for the input. My problem though is that I am using the same brand of switch, which makes it even more confusing.
I spoke to a Sony ‘tech’ who told me to reboot my modem (even though I told him that the modem is fine) and then to restore my system. I have saved my game files and am doing a full restore. Apparently it’s going to take 7 hours, but I am hoping that is in ‘Windows Time’, as Windows seems to overquote it’s waiting time.
If the restore doesn’t work I guess i’ll either have to live with wireless (which is slow on my modem), buy a different switch or physically plug/unplug the cable whenever I want to switch machines.

PS3 has some issues with certain hardware… most notably Linksys routers. You might have to MANUALLY set it up on both the PS3 and Router itself to allow it to go through.

I do have the linksys router also. Silly thing is that it connects fine when connecting directly to the modem/router, just going through a switch is the problem.
Anyway, what settings did you need to do in the router? I have already given the PS3 a static IP.

If you have the MS replacement cord it has a fuse or circuit breaker in it. Try using a standard computer power cord. It is what happened to my brothers 360.

I have a D-Link router and a Wireless N Linksys router and they all work fine… I didnt know there were compatibility issues with when using a hard wired connection.
btw GoW3 trailer, while it was showing amazing looking new footage, it was way too short!

Well the last to games were pretty close to perfect. There are so many memorable epic moments between the two.
I highly doubt 3 is going to be a disappointment. Santa Monica knows what they’re doing.

This game will sell very well. It already has.
Speaking of which, I order the Ultimate edition but I don’t know if it comes with the collection games.
When I search there are pictures with and without. Does anyone know the prices of the two versions? I paid $99 Canadian without tax.

the Ultimate Edition doesnt come with the collection. UK is getting the the Ultimate “Collection” Edition because GOW Collection never came out in the UK.

I FINALLY played the Heavy Rain demo last night… wow!
That first scene was amazing. Is the prostitute the same lady from the casting call promo? I think so. She is amazing. Listening to her tell her story, I got chills and genuinely felt her pain.
As soon as the demo was done, I went online and ordered it. I’ll find the time and money for this somehow.
Also it’s obvious GoW 3 isn’t going to be the visual powerhouse of 2010. It’s Heavy Rain.

Ive not played any of the origional GOWs will this affect the game for me? I will probably still order it (mainly because thy had a submariner advert on the trailer i watched).

UC2 i would say had dissapointing sales if it had come out on the xbox it would have had huge sales. Playstation owners just dont seem to get behind the exclusives. I think GoW 3 has a recap of the last 2 games. So it shouldn’t effect a new comer too much.

How so? I am a customer so I proved it myself! I’m going on experience. The 360 has few good titles so they sell better. And don’t bother with the US attach rates because they mean nothing.
I have about 16 games in less than one year.

Of course sales figures and atach rates matter.
If you sell allot of games you will make a profit allowing you to make more games possibly better games. If your developing games exclusivly and no-one buys them then you may go multiplat.
I want more people to buy PS3 games then they will have more money to develop more so i can continue to get good games.

Attach rates are obviously meaningless, considering that the PS3 still has the best exclusives, despite being burdened with a lower attach rate. Navyste, go suck another dick.
Attach rates and sales numbers, once past a point of putting your console of choice in danger of being discontinuted (dreamcast) are only fodder for fanboys. It affects gamers not at all, unless that gamer is fanboy.

This straight up is just not true. Just because kev, CON, or happy say it does not make it the truth. Games don’t need to be top 10 in NPD to “be selling well”
For instance. Both Uncharted games outsold both Mass Effect games.
I can name many instances where PS3 exclusives have outsold 360 exclusives or multiplats.
I’ll give props to Halo 3 and the Gears games. they sell very well. I don’t see why those two franchises need to represent the bar as whether or not a game sells well or does not.

I am not saying sales prove that games are better or worse in many cases i feel that the quality of PS3 exclusives has not been reflected in sales. Games can sell very well on the PS3 ie MW2 but with exclusives i think the PS3 user base doesnt show enough support.

that’s just a fanboy assumption, just because Wii Sport has sold over 40 million copies doesnt mean games like Mass Effect (which sold close to 2.5 million) are not selling well. In fact 2-5 million is the standard for a game to be cosidered as a sucessful franchise.
if you compared each exclisve besides Halo and Gears you will see PS3 games have sold just as well if not better as the 360′s.
that was true 2-3 years ago but not anymore…the only PS3 exclusive that sold poorly was Heavenly Sword and it still manage to sell 1 million. Too Human didnt even came close

The PS3, instead of relying on a single super franchise or focusing on limited genres, has a very diverse variety of exclusives. Almost any type of gamer can find a compelling reason to purchase a PS3, except for the superhyperbolic anontard FPS crowd, where the FPS exclusives tip in the 360s favor, though PS3 has some FPS exclusives worth playing to any fan of the genre who hasn’t become an xbot.
“It only does everything” is an ingenious ad campaign, as it is very true to how this console has evolved and the target audience that has been bought in.
Essentially, the 360′s “It only does Halo” has been very successful but lacking in appealing to other types of gamers. This is where Arc/Natal are both chasing the same casual wiitard cash.

*Halo 3 has sold about 9-10 million but the next 2 Halo has failed to match those numbers.

I would hope so. God of War is a universally acclaimed action game franchise spanning two console generations (starting about 5 years ago), whereas Mass Effect is an RPG franchise that just began this gen (a little over two years ago).

Well, according to the sales charts below, it looks like PS3 has practically it’s top three to six best selling titles as shooters, so I guess the emphasis is there as well. The only real difference I can see in the best selling exclusive chart below is 360 represents the RPG element whereas PS3 represents the action/platformer element as far as game buyers go.

Navysty wasn’t arguing that they didn’t sell “pretty well”, he just said they didn’t sell as well in comparison to 360 exclusives. I just showed you the top 10 exclusives for each console and here you are still arguing about it… The exclusive sales chart listed above proves this, as Halo 3 outsold MGS4 by twice as much, Gears of War 1 outsold Resistance by almost twice as much.
That’s not “pretty even” by any stretch of the imagination, especially when the difference in sales on every title listed is 20% to 60% greater in favor of 360.

I used worldwide numbers for a reason roca.
L4D and Gears are included because they are not available for PS3. The conversation is exclusive to PS3 and 360, besides, PC sales are nominal in comparison to 360 sales of the same title.
