Crytek: No compromises for PS3 Crysis 2
The first Crysis game had PC gamers salivating at the lush graphics and bragging to their console-owning brethren that the PS3 and Xbox 360 would never have a game able to match it. Wrong. So wrong in fact that Crytek is developing Crysis 2 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as the PC. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it.
PC gamers will, of course, argue that the console versions will be nothing more than a shoddy port. But no. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli recently told PlayStation: The Official Magazine that the PS3 version of Crysis 2 is being developed alongside the PC version. What’s more, he states, “I don’t feel we’ve compromised anything.â€
According to Games Thirst, Yerli has previously said:
We don’t need to dumb down the game; the technology provides all the horsepower we need to make a kick-ass 360 game and a kick-ass PS3 game, and push the PC gaming forward still.
The fact is that while the absolute best PCs will always be able to run the best-looking games, most of us don’t own those kinds of machines. And the PS3 and Xbox 360 are both powerful enough that they can keep up anyway.
Crysis 2 is due for release late in 2010, and let’s hope I don’t have to eat my words as the console versions turn out to be rubbish.

This could be the first major multiplatform title that looks and plays tremendously better on PS3 than 360 across the board (and agreed on by reviewers universally as well). When/if that starts to happen, Microsoft will be scrambling.

Final Fantasy 13 looks and plays better on the PS3 as well. In fact Final Fantasy lost nearly 50% of it’s content so it could go on both consoles. That pissed me off.

I hope before they concentrate on porting (or not), they first concentrate on NOT making another cookie cutter shooter.
Crysis was neat for the cloak feature of the suit, and that was about it imo. It *should* have been well designed missions where you coud use various suit skills to do stuff, but instead it was fairly on the rails, especially after the aliens turned up in force…

Slightly better looking FMV, 2 disc swaps during the entire game, and uncompressed sound seems to be the only real differences mentioned so far, guess we’ll have to see…

Calm down, OS, it’s just a game. Thanks for the links. As much I would like to believe Mr. “Chubb” and his source reference in http://www.sankakucomplex.com/ which also stated earlier that only 8GB of the 38GB on BD will be used for actual gameplay data (the rest is used for FMV), I think I’ll reserve judgment until the final versions come out for both consoles next month.

I played the Heavy Rain demo. I didn’t think the graphics were jaw droppingly spectacular to be honest. Sure they were good, but from the stills I’ve seen beforehand I was expecting much more. But still, interesting game, the story looks like it’s going to be great. I’m going to put my Nostradamus (or should that be Pachter) hat on and say that Shelby dies from an asthma attack at the end of the game, similar to how Bruce Willis died at the end of Sin City with whatever issue he had with himself.

Now before I get attacked, I will admit, I am a sony fanboy. But I am not blind. I’m not blind to the following:
- the ps3 was too expensive
- sony ceos arrogance hurt them
- sony needed more exclusives in the begining
Unlike a blind fanboy, like happy, cad and carl, I can see where the faults and weaknesses are in my camp. Heck there’s even a few franchises on the 360 side I want ( Fable) I respect but don’t like, ( gears, halo) and some that are downright cool ( that arcade game where you are a ninja chef) but, what blind xbots fail to see is:
- 33% failure rate is unacceptable PERIOD.
- paying for online gaming is pure ass rape by microsoft, if you remotely agree with paying a fee JUST to play online, I can only say the following: you are a fucking dumbass. REMEMBER I don’t care about extra x or extra y, all I care about is being able to play my games online..for free…your money does NOT provide with any more stable servers…

OS, highly doubtful… but I gladly admit I currently favor 360 just like you admitted you favor PS3, and I don’t make a habit of touting games before they release, let alone making comparisons stating one is better than the other before they release, throwing numbers or percentages about without reference, etc. I have argued with Kev, CAD, Happy, and CON in favor of PS3 in the past, but it seems PBot trolls here outnumber and post more than everyone else now… fact.
My beef with the 360 is the ridiculous hard drive pricing and restrictions, not to mention only releasing the 250GB with special editions, or the latest lame ass attempt at a “special edition” with Final Fantasy XIII.

Crysis (apart from its graphics) was really meh.
I think there has been enough time and criticism where improvements will be made and a well fleshed out game will be the end result (Assassins creed 2, ME2).
