Microsoft: 2010 to be biggest Xbox year "ever"

February 13, 2010

Microsoft: 2010 to be biggest Xbox year "ever" Microsoft recently held the X10 event where the company went over all of the biggest titles to come out on the Xbox 360 this year. The event showcased many of the titles that have been anticipated for some time.

According to Kotaku, Aaron Greenberg was talking up Microsoft’s robust lineup for 2010 stating that this year will be the best year ever for the Xbox brand.

Greenberg boasts that the Xbox 360 has an E3-like lineup this early in the year. He states that this is only the tip of the iceberg as the company is saving some games to be announced at E3 later this year. He says, "This is just a glimpse of the quality of products we’re going to bring throughout the full year."

The games shown during the event are:

- Halo: Reach (est. September 2010)

- Fable III (November 2010)

- Crackdown 2 (est. June 2010)

- Left 4 Dead 2 DLC (NA)

- Splinter Cell Conviction (April 2010)

- Alan Wake (May 2010)

Looks like Microsoft has about one game per month up until June, and then releases jump to holiday season 2010. The lineup is not bad as it spreads the games out over the year. Judging from the predictable Halo/Fable holiday alignment, I suspect any new games shown at E3 would be for 2011 or for Natal.

that piece of shit? quality games? haha dont make me laugh. . . xbox is shit!

  2. CarlB:

Ha, love the messages Mass Effect 2, for instance:

“Export your games saves to Mass Effect 3, if you survive”

  3. CON:

Seems like liquid has already played these games before their actual release lol.

Last year was a very slow year for the xbox from my point of view. There were no exclusives that really got me excited except L4D2.

This year there are loads and on top of that some pretty good third party games also. Not so sure about Natal.

true CON. . . but you forget to mention that the 360 is shit

Con meet Liquid. Liquid meet Con.

Let’s just hope that the Xbox360 hardware can withstand Natal as well as the strain from all the other gaming titles that Microsoft is promising.

  8. Spideydog:

There is only one game there that raises an eye brow for me I’m afraid.

But I’m sure there are plenty of people excited the for the other ones.

  9. ViRuS:

I want Crackdown2, Halo reach, Alan Wake and Splinter Cell Conviction.

I might try Fable 3, but I’d need a go of the previous 2 first.

  10. SW:

I’m down with crackdown 2. Alan wake ill see, and the same goes for fable 3.

This will clearly be a much better year than 2009 for Xbox. How they were only 2.9m units behind Sony in 2009, with much less exclusive content, I’m not sure. 2010 looks good for both systems. However, I do think that GOW3 will be bigger than any of the games on the 360 list so far, except for maybe Halo Reach. As long as GT5 doesn’t get pushed back again, it looks fine for Sony as well.

  12. CarlB:

Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III are the next big events. I don’t see anything except Reach and Natal “reaching” (get it?) that level of hype this year… yet.

  13. Saber_HAHAha:

    GREAT joke Carl, HAHAha.

    Get it? HAHAha?

    SABER HAHAha?

    I’m a genius…

  14. CarlB:

Truly you have reached genius level saber… as have we all here… just look at the witty banter and Ulysses level of writing here… okay, I apologize, moving on…

too bad they’re hoping for Natal to kill the competition. I would just put as much effort on first party exclusive just in case Natal fails

  16. CarlB:

Looks like they are doing that as well… so far not too bad with their first of the year… Mass Effect 2… yes it can be had on PC as well, but not PS3, and guess which game has out reviewed and outsold both PS3 exclusives for this year so far… yep, ME2.

  17. Roca.:

“yes it can be had on PC as well, but not PS3″

but PC games can be played on PS3 if you didnt know, google it and you can find out how, you just need a simple software.

ME is a multplat, I though we agreed not to include it in our “exclusives” debates

  18. CarlB:

Apparently millions more people prefer to buy and play the 360 version. Commercially available for 360, not for PS3. ME2 is a console exclusive for 360, Bioshock 2 is a multiplatform title available for PS3, 360, and PC. The difference between the two types of games is Sony gets some income from the true multiplatform, but nothing from the 360 console exclusive.

  19. Roca.:

Mass Effect 2 is a multiplatform…so is Gears of War 1, L4D 1 & 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Alan Wake, and many others.

whenever I go to a gaming website and I click on Mass Effect 2…I also see “also on PC” which means is a multiplatform game.

SW, Jofa and many more ppl have played on another “platform” (on PC).

  20. CarlB:

Mass Effect 2 is not available for PS3… neither is Gears of War 1, L4D 1 & 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Alan Wake, and many others. PC sales are nominal in comparison anyway.
