Square Enix releases doctored Xbox 360 vs PS3 pictures for Final Fantasy XIII
Square Enix has been very adamant that the Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XIII is pretty much the same quality-wise as the PS3 version. The company’s motivation came under a bit of fire recently when Square Enix released a batch of doctored photos of the Xbox 360 version of the game.
Kotaku recently put up a gallery of the photos sent over by Square Enix. The site pointed out that the PS3 and Xbox 360 photos were virtually identical in every aspect. The pictures were clearly the same photo but with the photoshopped 360 and PS3 shoulder buttons.
Sonia Im, Senior PR Manager for Square Enix North America tweeted recently that they are looking into how these altered photos ended up into the presskit.
She tweeted:
We are looking into how the #FFXIII altered screens ended up in our presskit &will update asap. This was obviously not intentional…
..Aside from easily being proven as altered, and this method not being one we use, we don’t feel there is a need to enhance the X360 #FFXIII
Need to clarify a few things re: #FFXIII screenshots. These were not meant to be released as a comparison of FFXIII on the two consoles…
The X360 batch in our press kit was the wrong one. We will have a statement shortly.
It’s really not that big of a mystery here as publishers photoshop pictures all the time for publications of boxart assets. When you look at the small preview pictures on the back of a video game box, you are pretty much looking at the same screenshot regardless of the console version game box.
This is just a standard method publishers use to ensure consistency. However, I have to say that this is the first time I have seen it done for a presskit. Square Enix should know by now that fanboyism and flame war comparisons rule this gen.

I’ll tell them what. If they built the PS3 version to their original plan, and made the game the best they possibly could, that’s step 1 done. And if they managed to make the 360 version equal to this, there ya go! Everybody’s happy, except for the fanboy extremists.
Of course, if they nerfed a version just so that they would both be of equal quality, then get your pitchforks and torches ready.
I’m not likely to pick up the game, so… yeah.

If FFXIII doesn’t melt my face off with its awesomeness, I’m pretty ready to be done with Square Enix.
They are a small step away from being added to my no buy list. So far Activision is the only publisher I will not buy from.

I won’t be getting Final Fantasy 13 either as it’s just not my thing. One day I’ll rent it to see if I’ll be intrested in a JRPG. Lost Odyssey is the only JRPG that I have ever enjoyed.

I have to agree with CAD, Lost Odyssey is the only JRPG I have enjoyed this generation. I tried Last Remnant (which was ordinary) and Blue Dragon (which was pretty good, but forgotten about when other games came out), but they pale in comparison to the Lost Odyssey story. I wish Mistwalker were making a Lost Odyssey 2 rather than a Blue Dragon 2, but then again you never know what they’re doing.
I haven’t played Tales of Vesperia or Star Ocean yet, I think if I were to play one of them it would be Tales.

Yeah, dudes with lipstick don’t really go together, unless they’re the frontman for an 80′s rock band. I was shattered when I found out that the 2 people from ‘Nelson’ were dudes. Shattered and a little ashamed. Oh well, at least I still have Taylor Hanson.

I’ve been hearing so much crap about FFXIII, between it being too linear or people just talking shit about it being on 360.
I don’t care. The number FF games are usually awsome and worth playing for any RPG fan. I am going to get it for 360 when it comes out. I’m sure to like it for one reason or another.
Lost Odyssey was an awsome game. Definately one of the best RPGs released this generation. It’s ashame that people would try to put it down for a reason like Jansen. ok so he was a bit dorky but he was funny as shit. Some of the shit he said had me cracking up like when he called Gongora “Lord eyebrows”

You know I stoped playing that game after my 360 was stolen because I just could not fathum playing it again as it is a very long game. I was on disk 4 and now you guy make me want to play it again. I have so many game like that and I’m trying to finish Bioshock right now because I got Bioshock 2 for Valentines but I refuse to play it until I finish the first. Bioshock suffers the same stoy as many of my games where my saved files were lost when the 360 was stolen.

The beginning of disc 2 was rather boring, they dragged that stupid funeral on for too long. I found that by the end of disc 2 it really began gaining steam.

Well i have already done 3 playthrus man.. i love this game and well ahemm.. i have done 11 playthru’s of Mass Effect 1 and twice already for ME 2, one on no normal other one on INSANITY with level 30 soldier.. Amazing game btw..
