Greenberg: Xbox 360 has more blockbusters and exclusives than PS3
Aaron Greenberg thinks the Xbox 360 has more blockbuster titles and exclusive games in 2010 than the PS3 does. Can he possibly be right?
You’ve got to love Aaron Greenberg. Not because he’s a nice guy or because he does an incredible amount of work for charity. Because he isn’t and he doesn’t. But because as chief propagandist for Microsoft and the Xbox 360, he gives good copy. He’s the one man I know who can entice antagonism even when he’s trying to be nice.
His latest remarks, in an interview with CVG, were probably meant to be quite banal and boring. But they’re not, and they’re bound to cause arguments.
He said:
If you’re a gamer and you’re interested in core blockbuster titles, there’s no other platform that offers more titles, or offers more exclusives. Honestly, there’s going to be great games on the PS3 and we respect that. But our goal is to have the most blockbuster titles and the most exclusives. And I think we clearly have that this year.
I’m not about to check through the release schedule for the rest of the year to check whether Greenberg is right. Although I’m sure some commenters will do just that. But my initial feeling is he’s wrong. Certainly in terms of games I want to play, 2010 belongs to the PS3. Unless there are a bunch of Natal games coming at the end of the year which will knock our socks off.

Sony on Microsoft line vs the PS3′s

Statistically it does. Hmm… but, as much as I respect dear Mr. Greenberg, it seems to –>”ME”<– that the PS3 has better exclusives. Better exclusives in 2009, and better ones coming up in 2010. Maybe better ones back in 2008. I'll break it down.
I would take Uncharted 1/2, MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, Ratchet and Clank series, Demon's Souls, Killzone 2, inFAMOUS, and the upcoming GT5 and GOW3
OVER
The 360 side: Mass Effect 1/2, Halo and Gears series, Fable 2, Splinter Cell.
Add in MW2, Rock Band/GH, and maybe some others for multi-platform.
Those are the only games that really interest me on either side. I could bring controllers, online, hardware, pricing, etc into it, but I'll spare you all. To make a long story short: I prefer PS3 games over Xbox games. He only commented on quantity, not quality, which is the only thing I really care about.
Therefore, I don't need to attack nor defend his snide remarks this time. I'm going to bed.

X10 featured a pretty impressive line-up of games, considering you’re obviously holding some stuff back for E3. Do you feel Xbox is unique in the respect of having this strength of line-up before the biggest show of the year?

We haven’t done this kind of showcase this early in the year before. I think the fact that we’re showing what many people see as an E3-quality game line-up in early February, is reflective of the type of year we expect to have.
We said at CES at the start of the year that 2010 will be the biggest year in the history of Xbox. We didn’t want to just say it, we wanted to back it up the fact you’re here and we’ve got Splinter Cell: Conviction, we’ve got Alan Wake, we’ve got Crackdown 2 ,we’ve got Fable III, we’ve even got Halo: Reach – these are all being shown and it’s only February.
These all exclusive, triple-A titles which will sell millions of units. I think it’s a pretty good sign we’re going to have a huge year. That, by the way, is just a glimpse of what we have for the full year, we’ll have more at E3, more at the holiday. It’s going to be a huge year, for sure.
When you compare your exclusives to what PS3 has – over and above God Of War III – how would you place your announced triple-A titles?
If you’re a gamer and you’re interested in core blockbuster titles, there’s no other platform that offers more titles, or offers more exclusives. Lets look at what the 360 has in store for 2010.
Splinter cell conviction:
I guess you’re only as good as your last game and Splinter Cell Double Agent sold 1.16 million on the 360 worldwide and had a metacritic of 85.
Alan Wake:
Being a new IP its really difficult to judge its status as either AAA or impact. One thing we know for sure is it is 360 exclusive as no PC version is being made according to recent sources. To put Alan Wake in perspective though, Resident Evil 5, a game in a similar genre sold 2.75 Worldwide on the 360. I really doubt AW will come close to those numbers as the RE series is an established franchise, and lets face it….AW doesn’t appear to cater to the 360 shooter demographic.
Crackdown 2:
The first Crackdown sold 1.52 million and had a metacritic score of 83. The closest thing I can think that Sony has exclusive in a similar gametype would be InFamous 2, and the first InFamous sold 1.35 million with a metacritic of 85.
Fable 3:
The Fable series have continually done great. Fable 2 sold 3.4 million and had a metacritic of 89. Very impressive. Not sure what exclusive the PS3 has to counter this. Maybe FF14…not sure, if that will stay exclusive but I believe it was recently mentioned by a Sony official as being exclusive again. The difference Worldwide that FF13 will more than likely outsell the 360 version may make up the numbers (they practically have a 2 million lead already in Japan). I have to imagine due to the success of Demons Souls that another one is planned, but very unlikely to see the light of day this year.
Halo Reach:
What can be said about the Halo series. They review great and sell better. The PS3 has no answer as far as sales are concerned in the same genre, but Aarron Greenberg wasn’t just necessarily talking about “same genre” anyway so lets bring Gran Turismo 5 into the conversation.
The first iteration of a new GT game on a console has never sold under 10 million world wide. Being that the PS3 is operating with more consoles than the PS2 did at the time GT3 was introduced, is it possible that GT5 could see similar sales?(13+ million) I think so.
Now I imagine there are a couple of Aces up MS’s sleeve. Notably Gears 3.
What does Sony have planned…?
Well, we know about
GOW3:
A game where metacritic wise, each game GOW:collection, GOW1 and 2, and GOW: Chains of Olympus all have 90+ ratings and are universally acclaimed. Not to mention they all sold over 2.5 million. The third one looks to outsell all previous simplay due to the promotion Sony is putting together that outdoes any promotion they’ve done for any game in the series.
Last Guardian:
SOTC has a metacritic of 91 with sales close to a million. Like I said before..you’re only as good as your last game, and SOTC was Universally acclaimed game.
Agent:
Made by Rockstar North. Not much more needs to be said about the games they can produce sales-wise or review-wise.
On top of that you have games where the 360 has no answer for.

As far as Metro 2033 is concerned, it looks like a very generic PC shooter (Section 8, Timeshift).
I hope Singularity also doesn’t fall into that category because the concept looks great.
Same thing can be said about another Crysis after the meh-fest that was the first one.

Theres nothing wrong with a game with a metacritic score of 85. I’m sure it’s great, especially if you enjoy the series. The local Xbots here are talking the new one up as if the last one sold three million copies, and I just wanted to point out, that, that simply was not the case. A brand new IP (inFamous) even outsold it and SC is a well established franchise.

Also id like to add, that both camps have accomplished what they set out too…well the 360 has at least, the PS3 is just getting started..
Microsoft main goal, as evident by their actioons, was to garner and expand their 3rd party relations…which they did, but I believe they sacrificed too much and it will cost them at the end, as seen by them buying exclusives, only to have them pop up on the PS3…that’s money sorta well spent, aka ff13 showing up on 360, while most has been money wasted…aka the gta content.
Sonys goal was to maintain 3rd party support, while expanding its 1st party lineup…which in this generation, it has been paying off for them, it cost them in the begining aka no games or whatnot, but I believe this will pay off for sony in the end…
if you look at purely at an exclusive games list, and I mean 1st party, and not stupid psn/arcade titles, sony has had 360 beat for quite some time, and its funny to me to see idiot 360 fanboys argue this point: FACT of the matter is, sony has more exclusive, innovative, original ips than microsoft…period..
Anyways, my point is both companies spent money on expanding something…I just believe sony’s money is better spent, in the long run…don’t get me wrong, ms did their damage and expanded their 3rd party support, actually they needed to do this as the xbox brand prior had no 3rd party support…just to me, in an industry where 3rd party exclusives are the way of the dinosaurs, exclusives are the turning point….seems to me its best to spend more money on your own internal studios aka nintendo and sony, than waste it on a game that will be on your system anyways

Sooo exactly what comment did I make JoJO29? Don’t talk about facts when you can’t get your Facts straight. Fable 3, Halo Reach, Splinter Cell Conviction, Crackdown2, Mass Effect 2, Allen Wake, Metro 2033, Dead Rising 2, Joyride, Modern Warfare 2 exclusive DLC, Need for Speed Shift Ferrari DLC, Left 4 dead is still awesome and DLC will be coming soon too, Forza 3 is still kicking with new cars and Track DLC. Plus there are the timeless series like Halo 3 Multiplayer and Gears of War 2 Multiplayer. Mix that in with Bioshock 2, Bayonetta, Final Fantasy 13, Dante’s Inferno, Lost Planet with Marcs and Dom and the RE character on the 360 version and then Game Room with Perfect Dark Zero, Toy solders and Scrap Metal. Then factor in Natal and LIVE and 360 is the best place to be including the whole library behind that and what ever else is coming this year.

Seen as im enlightening the world today and have time on my hands.
I think the PS3 is currently benefiting from becoming peoples 2nd console most 360 owners i know are buying 1 for the bluray and some of the exclusive games. Although this isnt what sony wanted to happen its good in that if they MS and sony dont release new consoles soon then more people will go down this route.
I think MS’s timed exclusives and buying 3rd party games makes business sense. I certainly bought GTA for my xbox because it had the DLC first same with Fallout. Im sure im not the only 1 doing this. I shall be FF for my PS3 because it offers benefits.

OK Fact check. Dead Rising is not exclusive but it will have a Exclusive DLC Prolouge called Case Zero which bridges the story between 1 & 2. It will launch prior to the games release on August 31

Compared to your list of weak games my list is golden and currently incomplete. DLC is new ish deal with it. There was enough exclusives there in the list that you ignored along with the trird Party titles that usually look better on the 360 anyways.

I’ll give a nod in MS’s direction as far as having a better lineup this year than last year, but It still looks a bit premature. Almost like MS shot their load and fell asleep with this announcement.
I expect Gears 3 to be announced. Other than that I don’t really see an surprises. I really doubt you can expect L4D3 this year.
I straight up don’t like the exclusive DLC way that both consoles seem to be looking to do.

Again, it is FACT that when the PS3 is the lead platform, overall graphics are BETTER…that has been the case since grand theft auto…but if you want examples here go some: EA switching to ps3 as lead platform, along with rockstar and activision…those are some pretty big names…oh wait, if multiplat games look better on 360, what the hell happened to ff13…oh wait, it looks better on PS3, heck, it don’t even run at 720p on the 360 ver..

actually I think you are right. GTA4 runs @ 630p PS3 and 720p on 360.
but the difference is only 90p to begin with and it wasnt graphically impressive. it also had a shit load of issues (frame rates, glitches, freezing up on you…etc)
if it make you feel any better MW2 runs at 600p.

Yes, gta ran at sub hd resolutions, but it was also the same game that was massively scaled back because of the 360..Rockstar had claimed tbat themselves…let’s repeat the summary…the 360 held back the PS3 version…the 360′s hardware could NOT handle gta the way the PS3 could, so rockstar decided to scale the game back…they stated this in case you don’t remember lol
They catered to the lowest common denominator…aka the RROD 360…just like FF13

Just had to LOL at the Bible reader and “devil’s Book” comments, The Torah, Quran, and Bible are all bullshit, but the new testament was created out of thin air (council of nicea) as a populace control device by a roman emporer who was the leader of a Sun God Cult, and only converted to christianity on his deathbed so as to cover all the bases, so to speak. The new testament is an amalgamation of dozens of known Christ-based cults that were threatening the roman empire as they grew steadily in popularity. Some of those cults believed there was a Jesus who was the son of the vengeful god Yahweh of the old testament, who killed children of sinners, and forcefully impregnated women who were unmarried by the age of 15. Some of the other cults only referenced him as a prophet, nothing amazing or miraculous, just a dude who talked about God and being nice to each other. This is the jesus that is written about in the Quran.
If you believe that all but the bible as you know it are Devil’s Books, then, assuming there is a God and Satan (there isn’t) you are actually an agent of falsities and manipulations, putting you squarely in the camp of the Devil. Ironic, that someone who claims to follow Jesus’ teachings of love, acceptance, and tolerance would be so strongly working for the other team.

So a little history lesson needs to be given. That Emperor was Constantine. Yes Constantine worshiped the Sun god and all the other gods in Roman Mythology. You see in the Book of Daniel Chapter 7 it reveals that From the time of Babalon the Bible predicted the nations that would rule over God people. It correctly predicted that Mead and Persia would take over Babylon and that Cyrus would be the one to do it like the Bible predicted in Isiah 44:27 – 45:1 many year before he was ever born and how he would do it by drying up the River and going under the walls of Babylon and that Greece would be next with Alexander the Great and that after Greece would be Rome. It tells of a prophey where for 1260 year the Christians would be persacuted for their beliefs starting in 538 AD. It started off as Pagen Rome and morphed into Papal Rome when when Constantine moved the capital form Rome to Constantinople which today is Istanbul. So Constantine worshiped the sun god and converted to christanity when he got a dream that he should fight under the sign of the cross. He did so and won the battle. He decided to stop killing the christians and convert as they were not really a problem as the forces that Rome had to battle with during those times were a bigger problem. Christians who were going through persecution for some years welcomed the conversion and in the process compromised their religon. Constitine made it law at the council of Laodica 364 AD. Canon 29 stated:
“Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord’s Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ.
So true Christians who worshiped on Sabbath were persacuted for their beliefs. The Bible was not allowed to be read and because there were not many copies or printing presses in those days people would take the word of the priest.
I can’t go into it but the Bible clearly identifies the Catholic church as the persacuting beast power that persacuted Gods people during this time and it continued to the end of the prophecy for 1260 Year from 538 AD to 1798 when French army captured the Pope and put him in excile. Revelation 13:3 talks about this where it says “And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.†That wond was healed in 1929. That prophecy has been fulfilled very, very vividly before our eyes. It was in the year 1929 that Mussolini executed the Concordat of 1929 with the Pope, restoring the properties that had been taken away from the Church. At that time, the Pope was actually made king once more, and the Vatican City was set up as a political sovereign power. From that day to this, the strength of the papacy has been advancing with tremendous strides.
Anyways back on topic. Constantine never truly converted until his death like you siad to cover all bases. During this conversion though after he fought and won under the sign of the cross he made christianity the defacto religon and everyone converted. Problem was you now have a bunch of pagens turned christian through law who still worshiped their gods and brought deep compromise into the church. In fact Constantine marched his army through the river to baptise them but they were basically baptised pagens. To help with the problem he took all the gods and named them Peter, Mary etc etc…. Peter is really Jupiter and the list goes on.

Ok so I was contacted by Toshi who is a Muslim. Even though what I said was very out of place, Toshi my good friend it’s what I believe. I’ve done to much research on it and I’m not convinced that the Quaran is from the God of Heaven. His message is contradicting when compared to all the Bible Prophets who’s message is in unison through out the whole Bible. No miracles no Prophecy until the end of time, this book gives me nothing to believe in, no track record like the Bible has. Every prediction in the Bible has come true and it gives a foundation to believe in. The Quaran clearly states to kill christians and that they are your enemies. Let me state that I have many muslim friends and I know they don’t believe in that and just because we don’t agree on Religion should not ruin our friendship. My Muslim Friends and I have debates all the time and in good fun with a bunch of jokes towards eah other. I know ther are many types if Muslims just like there are many types of Christians and we believe differently according to beliefs that they hold true and the same goes for them too because out of all the Christian denominations only 1 is right and it’s upto Christians to identify which one lines up with the Bible. I’m truly sorry if I offended you and I got carried away in my comments and I can only hope you look past my stupidity. I am truly Sorry.
