Bungie working on new IP, could revisit Halo in distant future
Bungie has clearly admitted that the studio is working on a new IP with Halo: Reach being the last game in saga. Microsoft’s internal team will be taking over the Halo franchise allowing Bungie to sow some new wild oats.
In a recent interview with CVG, Bungie community head, Brain Jarrard stated that the studio was working on what will be the genesis of the company’s “next big thing.â€
There has been a great deal of speculation around the rumor mill that Bungie’s next IP will be multiplatform. When asked point blank if Bungie’s next IP will be on the PS3, Jarrard refused to confirm or deny.
He stated, “I mean, I think our whole future’s kind of undefined right now and it’s definitely not something we’re going to be comfortable getting into too much detail about.”
For now, Bungie is officially done with the Halo franchise fulfilling their last obligation to Microsoft with Halo: Reach.
When asked if the studio will never work on another Halo game, Jarrard stated:
You know, it might be premature to say we’ll never ever, ever make a Halo game again. We sort of have a little special place for Halo in our hearts. But for the foreseeable future, this [Halo Reach] is it.
It will be interesting to see if 343 Industries, an internal team at Microsoft can handle the might of Halo going forward.

are more likly to come out on PS3 though..but if it make you feel any better, PS3 is the only console that can play the Bluray version of Halo Legends

343 Industries…how I pity you, ms has a history of not being able to replicate the success of another teams product, firefox > ie, ipod > zune….I highly doubt ms will continue to make halo “better” simply because, according to most halo fans, halo 3 sucked, or underperformed in terms of gfx/story/gameplay..
But, I’m. All for giving new developers a chance…

Sure Jojo that’s why Halo 3 sold 10.84 Million Copies and is the the #1 played game on LIVE and recored over 500,000 + players in the last 24 Hours. But why would I expect a delusional PS3 Fanboy to know anything about facts.

My 500GB HHD on my PS3 can eat any mandatory install like nothing.
besides 18GB+ install you still have to switch disc, now tell that’s optional too and deal with load times if you choose not to install.
FF13 and GOW3 are 35GB – 50GB games and there will be no install and no loading for either of them.

I disagree with both of you,
Sure the hype might have been the reason for selling the first few millions, but reaching 10 mil in 2 years time..
And even if they sold 10 mil copies on hype, howcome it has been on the most played game since the day it launched till now

Who needs Bluray when you got 1080P Streaming and Downloads. You can buy it on the 360 in High Def or Standard Def. No Loss there so keep your Bluray.

By the way 360 Owners I’m just curious to know what is going on in the other parts of the world. Are you guys getting the Winter Olympics on your 360′s? Every day in Canada there is Highlights from each events and I find it a great place to catch up on the action. They even sell the opening ceremony on the console. I believe CTV and Microsoft teamed up to bring these highlights to the 360. I was just wondering if NBC was doing the same in the USA and around the world.
On a side note I can’t wait for Canada and the USA to go at it in Hockey in the Finals. Were going to get you America. You got the first game but we will own the Gold. By the way after watching the Snowboarding events I have pledged to get back on a snowboard because when I was young I had an incident and I said I would never do it again.
