English road named ‘Lara Croft Way’ in honor of Tomb Raider franchise
What greater honor is there than having a road named after you? OK, there are quite a few, but it’s still quite an achievement. And it’s one being bestowed upon the Tomb Raider franchise in Derby, England.
The Tomb Raider games were originally created by Core Design, a developer based in the midlands city of Derby in England. The franchise has since spawned eight games (to date), which have been played by millions of people worldwide. There have also been two films based on series, starring the delectable Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.
Now, according to BBC News, Derby residents have voted for a new road to be named ‘Lara Croft Way’. Local councillor Lucy Care, cabinet member for planning and transportation, said:
The vote really captured the imagination of people from across the world and, despite my lack of gaming knowledge, I accept that a majority of 89 percent for Lara Croft is too overwhelming to ignore. She was created in Derby and deserves to stand alongside some of the more traditional icons of the city.
Good for the people of Derby to recognize a true local icon, albeit a fictional one, who can now stand alongside real people in having a road named after her.

I love the franchise. I actually like how it hasn’t changed to much from its core design (no pun intended).
Underworld was a great game other than all its glitches.
They added trophy support and I plan on going through it again.

I first played TR3 on the PC in 97-98? Long time ago anyway. I don’t think she would be so popular if they had Betty White play her in the movies.

Well, I certainly will be getting GOW3. I can’t for this game to come out. Like Roca stated, I think just about everyone that has a Ps3 is planning on getting this game.

Not yet. I’ve still got to finish Heavy Rain, and my brother in law has loaned me his Killzone 2, which I have to start on. Then there’s Dead Space to finish. After that I’ve somehow got to allocate time (and funds) to GOW 3, FF XIII, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2 and Splinter Cell. I also want to finish my second playthrough as a hardass bitch in Mass Effect 2. Maybe after all of that I might pick up GOW collection, and hopefully that’s before Reach is released, because that’s another one I am going to have to get through.
Fuck me…. what a year this is going to be!!
I noticed in the extras in Heavy Rain you can download an episodic content called ‘The Taxidermist’. Anyone downloaded that yet? Any good?

I highly recommend The collection prior to playing GOW3 though.
