New “action-adventure” Call Of Duty game on way from Sledgehammer
Activision sure knows how to milk a franchise dry for all its worth. And it’s setting off on a new course to do just that to the Call Of Duty series. First stop (but certainly not the last) is a new title from the newly-formed Sledgehammer Games. Which is being vaguely described as an “action-adventure.”
Not content with releasing one Call Of Duty game every year, Activision is set to milk the teat of the record-breaking FPS series until it drops off.
A new game from Treyarch (probably set in Vietnam) is on the way this year. Then there will be two games coming in 2011. One is likely to be a new title from Infinity Ward, assuming the current mess gets sorted out. And the other will be an “action-adventure” title from Sledgehammer Games, a new studio led by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey.
IGN quotes Mike Griffith, President and CEO of Activision Publishing, as saying:
2010 will be another important year for the Call of Duty franchise. In addition to continued catalog sales, new downloadable content from Infinity Ward and a new Call of Duty release, we are excited about the opportunity to bring the franchise to new geographies, genres and players.
The Sledgehammer title is likely to be a third-person actioner with more of a cohesive storyline than the usual CoD fare. And Activision is unlikely to stop there, with rumors of a CoD MMO game still persisting.
Let the milking (and inevitable slide to death) commence!

2009 was a great year too.
I started off this year getting Mass Effect 2 and it was worth it. Great game.
Then i finally got Assassin’s Creed 2 which was pretty good. I had it beat in about a week and got 100% achievements too.
Tuesday is going to be a big day!!! FFXIII comes out and I am really excited. I ordered it from Amazon and got release date delivery on it so I should have it that afternoon. I asked for that night off of work and I plan on staying up all night playing it. If my 360 doesn’t RRoD or blow up on me by the time I beat it then I will be happy lmao.
The following week has GoW3, which probably 90% of the people here on Blorge are jonsing for like a crack addict who hasn’t had his fix in 3 days. I won’t be getting it though.. at least not for awhile. I need to get GoW collection first. I only previously played and beat 1 so i have to catch up lol
that week is also when Metro 2033 and Perfect Dark release on 360. I know nothing about Metro, but i am going to end up getting Perfect Dark. That was one of my fav 360 games.
Some people will be happy to know that GTA4:Episodes from liberty city release on Ps3 on 3/30
I still have several games from 09 to catch up on and now a few from this year
White Knite Chronicles came out the beginning of feb and I definately want it. I also have to check out Heavy Rain. I keep hearing good things about it.

Alice in Wonderland comes out tomorrow and my girlfriend and I are planning on going to see it. Probably in 3D. I am a fan of Johnny Depp.
Iron Man 2, Shrek Forever After, Toy Story 3, Twilight Sage: Eclipse (if you like that sorta movie, gonna sell alot of tickets anyway), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows pt1 (gonna be split into 2 parts.. weird but interesting) and quite a few other movies this year… I Definately am going to see Alice, Iron man 2, Shrek, and How to train a Dragon in 3D.
Oh yeah and how can I forgot Prince of Persia: Sand of time… This is the game blorge after all… yes PoP has been made into a movie and it releases May 28

Also I think a few of them aren’t listed for a 2010 release, like FF14. I actually doubt that will be ready by the end of the year.

Theres still too few FF13 reviews to look at Metacritic in this instance.
FF14 Should come to the 360 as 11 was on the 360. Why wet the appetite of the 360 fanbase if you don’t plan on releasing the next true FF MMO on that platform.
If anything, It wont be fully exclusive as it will be available on the PC as well anyway.

The difference between PS3 and 360 isn’t as dramatic as the difference between what Nintendo had to offer at the time and the Playstation.
If FFVII was released on a cart it would have cost way too much to make.
BR discs cost much more than DVD9 to make so I would say that it might cost roughly the same to manufacture FFXIII on the PS3 or 360.
You can get DVD9′s for about $1-2 each.
BR-DL cost AT LEAST $15 a pop.

they probably have their own in-house BD dics production which probably cost them the same as DVD.
the huge cost for multiple dics games comes from the cost of ship + the extra work devs have to put in to make the 2 disc work as one.
if Sony and other publisher were paying $15 per BD disc then they wouldnt be making any money on software sales and they would have stopped supporting the PS3 long time ago.

It’s interesting that you think Final Fantasy will sell better on the Xbox360. I think that the Ps3 version will sell more copies but we’ll see.
As far as Xbox360 titles coming out go,I have to say that I probably would only be interested in checking out Halo Reach, Splinter Cell, and possibly Alan Wake. Most of the other titles I am not really interested in. I just think that the Ps3 has a better line up.

Well, it shouldn’t be surprising that Final Fantasy looks better on Ps3 since the game was made for the Ps3 and ported over to the Xbox360. Regardless, it’s great that gamers can enjoy this game on both systems.

Oh shit… Remedy owns that. I guess a PS3 port could happen then. I figured Alan Wake was one of MS baby’s and they would kind of want to keep it to themselves.
Usually when a company published a game it stays with that company.

Not really. I only used it when I had to. I like the hit from a distance the chain swords give me.
Something about the chains makes the game so great.
One beef I have with Inferno is you swing the blade at the enemies and it goes through them and they don’t react most of the time and you don’t know if it affected them at all.
I like to hear the weapon hit the enemy.
