New Gran Turismo 5 videos aplenty
I’m as pissed as anyone at the delay we’re experiencing in getting our hands on Gran Turismo 5. Seriously. This is THE PS3 game for me. However, a galaxy of new videos have emerged over the last few days which show that good things come to those who wait.
Firstly, thanks to a poster at NeoGAF comes the official Gran Turismo 5 trailer being bundled with God Of War III. Yes, it’s shot on a TV and so the quality is pretty dire, but it still shows the game is coming along very nicely indeed.
But there’s more, with Gamersyde leaking four new gameplay videos direct from the Nissan showroom in Nagoya, Japan. They show the Tokyo and Nurburgring tracks in glorious HD, and the game looks mighty impressive.
What’s amazing is how immediately obvious it is that it’s a Gran Turismo game. Sure, the graphics have been ramped up a few notches, but it all looks inherently like Gran Turismo. Which is a good thing in my opinion.
Now, if we could just get a definite and immovable release date then I’d be a happy man.

damn it guys, my ps3 just yellow lighted(40gb model) is this a hard drive problem or is it fried? its br=een giving me signs she was about to go like when id shut it off the right way it would tell me something went wrong couldnt shut down properly but ah well

Just call Sony, they’ll replace it for a nominal fee of $100+ dollars… wait a sec, did you say 40gb? Sorry, Sony’s warranties don’t go over a year because their models simply don’t break down outside of that period, regardless of what you say here

Seriously though, sorry to hear about it, and extra crappy timing right before the release of God of War III… I hope they can do something for you or you are able to fix it without cost.

You have to take into account that the PS3 is very reliable for the most part. The short warranty and the repair fees are shortcomings, but I would take a reliable product over a reliable warranty any day.

Jesus Ivan, you really hate the 360. You are a true fanboy and you wear the title with pride.
Anyone can afford to pick up another console (especially during tax season), with both consoles kick ass lineups its stupid not to own one of each system. Maybe two xbox’s though ain’t a bad idea.

holy shit i just fixed it! i used a hair dryer on the back to reheat it to melt some shit let cool down in the freezer and it booted right up…i guess its just a matter of time be4 it over heats again though.

@ Carl u realize sony for the original ps3′s(20,60,80gb models) the rates of cost are higher than newer models mine was goin to be like around $140(40gb) tax included, but the originals are like $180 or higher is bc they have higher failure rates…im juss sayin old model may start failing soon for alot of ppl its bein more comon spreaded on the net and some blame mw2 on it? idk. my point is to get a slim

They do use crappy thermal paste. They really should use Artic Silver. Its probably the best you can get.
If this 360 I got (its a RRoD replacement) lasts over the 1 year mark i’m going to open it up and replace the crappy x-clamps inside and use some artic siler on it as well

The X-clamps that MS uses inside the 360 to hold the heatsinks to the CPU and GPU really suck. They are actually a design flaw.
The x-clamps actually cause the motherboard to flex away from the chips over time, which is a cause of RRoD.
If you have no warranty or don’t mind voiding your warranty you can pop open the system and remove the clamps and replace them with normal machine screws and washers. And while your at it definately get rid of that horrible thermal paste they use and stick some artic silver on there.
It’s definately worth the time and effort, and costs pennies to do.

Warranty’s are a good thing. My first 360 RRoD 1 day shy of the 3 year RRoD warranty. I was lucky and it was replaced by MS. Unfortunately the fan on the replacement is loud, but nothing that doesn’t usually get drowned out by my tv speakers anyway.
The only other drawback is that RRoD replacements are only warrentied for 1 year, but that is better than nothing right?
When I eventually open this thing I will definately be removing the clamps, changing the thermal paste, and also I will be swapping out those damn fans. Maybe with some talismoon fans. They work pretty good and are much quieter.

Those damn x-clamps are always going to be a problem. I doubt Ms will change the design.
It’s estimated that 70% of RRoD errors are caused by those clamps. Can’t say that for certain but I can imagine its a high percentage based on the error codes. 0020, 0022 are pretty common and are usualy caused by the clamps and/or heat.

I heard that rumor too but only a couple of times. IN other words I was never able to find any specific proof that the fan would result in an live ban.
IN theory it is possibly. If the fans had a controller inside that controled the speed of the fans and also reported it to the MoBo, and it acually monitered wether or not the fans were stock… I doubt that though. cause if that was true it would also be possible that the system would get banned if the fans ever died on you too, since readings would be most likely off then.
At any rate, the only negative thing i found about it was the usually on forums were people talk about specific products. For example were 2 people out of 50 have horrible stories about how this particular product ruined their lives somehow…

PS3 is the most advanced, superior and coolest console out and is creating by Sony!
True exclusives, Sony has the biggest in-house development studios under SCE worldwide studios, which means our exclusives aint goin nowhere. . . M$ on the other hand try make first party studios but then end up closing them down bcoz of shit games. . . and everyone knows xbox games dont sell well.
hardware problems. . RROD, another xbox fuckup. PS3 doesnt suffer from anything, .YLOD is a myth anyone that says otherwise is either an xbot or full of shit. . .

I heard what you said about the Ps3 failing but I still like Ps3 failure percentages better. The friend that gave me a Xbox360 is now having problems with his system. He didn’t want to tell me but his elite Xbox360 failed on him. He thought I was going to give him I hard time but I didn’t. This is the second time that his system has failed on him. He is in the process of shipping his unit off to be repaired. I’m letting him use my Xbox360 until he gets his unit back.
