Jaffe: God Of War III “best game I’ve played in years!” – but he would say that
David Jaffe is one of the co-creators of the God Of War series, and acted as a consultant on God Of War III. So I guess it’s really no surprise to hear him declare that the title is “the best game I’ve played in years!” Still, it’s a very strong recommendation for the PS3 exclusive.
God Of War III is due to be released on March 16, but some lucky souls have the game already, David Jaffe included. He recently gave his views on the game on his blog, saying:
Just finished GOD OF WAR III! WOW! What a ride! Thanks Sony Santa Monica for the best game I’ve played in years! Fucking loved it ya’ll! Congrats! It deserves to go super nova!
I can say now that visually and production wise, I really don’t think there has EVER been a game that has executed at this level! Presentation and production wise, this is a crazy ass bar raising simply staggering game! And the execution of the story telling process? Fucking fantastic (amazing opening credits)! Amazing job all around!
Being partly involved in the game’s structure and development is sure to mean Jaffe is at least a little bit biased. However, it also means that if Sony Santa Monica had messed the title up, he’d have probably been the first to say so, taking a pop at them for ruining the character and series he helped create.
So I guess we should take his opinion on face value – God Of War III is going to be truly epic.

David Jaffe gets more credit then what he really deserves i think he uses God of War as his advertising thing. Okay so he made the first one and help with the second. I think the God of War lead game designer should get some spot lite and the credit.

I don’t know if I’d throw Jaffe into the Sony camp. He plays everything as is pretty vocal about it. He’s also very different than Greenberg as he’s a gamer and not a spokesman.
I’ve recently listened to both Aaron Greenburgs and Jaffes podcast on kotaku radio and Jaffe was a pleasure to listen to, and AG made me want to strangle him through my phone. Apples and Oranges IMO.

Reviews mean nothing to me and I will never talk them up because I don’t believe the reviewers are unbiased (genre not consol). Everyone has their own preference in game types. I like to rate things myself. I’m sure GOW3 will be better than anything that is out or will come out on the xbox this gen. I don’t mean graphics wise I mean overall game play and graphics. How do we know the people in charge of reviewing GOW3 are not xbots that only play FPS? There are plenty of games and movies that get bad review which I really like.
As well there are plenty of movie that get great reviews that I hated. I don’t think I would like Heavy Rain because it’s slow paced. Doesn’t mean it’s not a good game. I would give it a lower score and kill the overall score. I try to get an over all opinion from the people who played the game.

I’m actually surprised that IGN only gave it a 9.3, not because of the quality of the game but because usually when a game is hyped to all hell, they give it a higher score than they think it deserves. Looks like they’re growing out of it. Their main criticisms were the story (that’s a bit of an ouch), the voice work (how good can you voice an epic greek mythology game without sounding cheesy?), and the replay value (obviously). 9.3/10 is pretty wack for a 10 hour hack n’ slash, but their review was fair.
Of course, I HATE IGN’s inconsistent reviewing. GTA4 getting a perfect 10, even in graphics? A Crack in Time getting an 8.5 in graphics while Halo ODST got a 9 in graphics? I call BULLSHIT. Even MW2 getting a 10 in graphics while GOW3, which they call “at times the best-looking game ever”, getting a 9.5, is a little stingy.
Of course, it’s Metacritic score is now at 94, which is very, very good. However, some people will probably think it “sucks” for getting low than 9.5 from IGN, which seems to be their score for every top game. Their loss.

Some times when you get stuck you just need to step away for a while then go back to it later.
It took me days to get passed some parts. Like the dam spike room. But getting passed them felt really rewarding.
