Hardcore Final Fantasy XIII fans boo the Xbox 360
Recently Square Enix and major U.K. retail chain, HMV partnered up to hold a massive launch even for Final Fantasy XIII in London. Thousands of die-hard Final Fantasy fans showed up dressed up in costumes to win some swag. However, things started getting ugly when the Xbox 360 came out.
Alex Zane, U.K. TV presenter hosted the Final Fantasy XIII launch event at the jam-packed HMV located in London recently. Literally thousands of rabid Final Fantasy fans showed up dressed as their favorite character in order to win some free stuff. Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of Final Fantasy XIII, and Isamu Kamikokuryo, the game’s art director was present at the event to do signings.
One of the highlight events was a contest to win a prize. As soon as Zane announced that the winner of the contest would receive a special edition Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 bundle the crowd erupted with boos.
The Koalition captured the event on the video below. Zane obviously was dumbfounded as to why he was getting booed.
Apparently, when a trailer was shown on the big screen later during the event and the Xbox 360 logo appeared at the end the crowd erupted with boos again.
I wonder if the die-hard fans just didn’t like the Xbox 360 or they didn’t want a version of the game that is considered to be “inferior.†Regardless of the reasoning, it really is an embarrassing way to behave in front of the famed Yoshinori Kitase. Not only that, booing a free special edition 120GB Xbox 360 bundle is just insane.

This is awesome news Final Fantasy belongs only on PlayStation. Xbox 360 is crap finally is showing in big enormous crow now fuck Microsoft. I bet Final Fantasy XV will be exclusive to PS3 like Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

This is embaressing. Real fans of the FF series should not have displayed their console preference at that event. If I was there, I would have been enthralled just to be at an event with Yoshinori Kitase present.

Fact: Square made the decison to multi plat FFXIII in the US and Europe because there are still more 360s in both countries than there are PS3s.
Fact: It was a BUSINESS desicion, because Square is a business and it wants to make money too.

Here’s my take on this whole thing:
Square is the one to blame. All ms did was offer money, and square whored itself out. Now, if they had delivered the original designed game they promised before it went plat, because a lot of the xbots seemed to have forgotten, it was a ps3 exclusive, white engine and all…
Anywhoo, the reason why ms is getting the flak, is because Square itself admitted that the 360 is the reason theey bad tonscale the design and graphics back.
Now just from that statement alone, one can gather and argue it is ms fault, and to a point it is, its not squares fault the 360 is an inferior system..but..
Ms can fire right back, and say its squares fault for not being able to develop a game proper…but that would be…dumb..
In the end this is all you can really say: yes, the 360, scaled back ff13…big time…everytime I play now, I am in awe and marvel at some of the graphics and scenes in the game…then I remind myself, had this been a ps3 exclusive…how much more better the game would have looked…
But it is squares fault for whoring out their franchise and they themselves scaling it back..just to be able to run it on the 360…blame square for giving up the integrity of their game for..cash..cash they would have made regardless..

FF versus and FF14 are staying excluve because SE choose quality over quantity….they had a bad tasted from what happened to Last Remnant (reviews, sales), Infinity Underscovery (reviews, sales), FF13 (reviews)
just like Valve, and Epic didnt want the million extra in sales, they didnt want to up their game and develop for PS3….same goes for SE, they dont want lower their standard anymore and make poor games because of the 360 limitations. Kojima did the same for MGS4.
FF13 was a PS3 exclusive until MS wrote a check….if Sony had paid them for the exclusivity then why it went multiplatform?
