Microsoft launching Natal at E3 2010

March 26, 2010

Microsoft used E3 2009 to announce Project Natal, its entry into the motion-sensing control market, with a quick and dirty demonstration of the system’s ability. But E3 2010 will be where Natal is properly shown off, probably in its final retail form, with the official name and pricing details included.

According to Gamasutra, Microsoft will host the “world premiere” of Natal late on June 13, with a media-only press briefing the following morning. This will be a full year since Natal was first unveiled, and at least three months before it’s due to go on sale.

Microsoft is heralding the event as a huge one, comparing it to “your first day at school” and “your first crush” with the cheesy line, “Your first look at the future of fun.”

“Project Natal” is referred to in speech marks throughout the press release, suggesting this is merely a codename. But while the word Natal is pure nonsense, it seems to have lodged itself in people’s minds enough to warrant Microsoft going with it.

Motion control is sure to be the big talking point of E3 again this year, with details and games being added to the very basic information revealed at last year’s event.

Maybe “launching” was a poor choice.

Microsoft demoing Natal at E3 2010.

See. Sounds better and it makes sense.

    0ne comment all day?
LOL guess the xbots are really gone.

  3. phranctoast:

Or they don’t care about this shit either.

  4. ncaissie:

Yeah I suppose. They just like to go into the Sony threads to start shit.

    Eye Toy 2 at E3??
Microsoft is going to focus on Natal, why Sony is getting all the Move news out the way early (at GDC and PAX) to drop some surprise bombs at E3

  6. ncaissie:

    No games for the xbots.
    Except Natal games of course.

  7. phranctoast:

I will give my left testicle for a realistic light saber game on Move.

If Sony (LucasArts) showed that on Move this year, it would be an instance “WINS the SHOW for ME” !!!!!

  8. phranctoast:

and I say “realistic” lightsaber game with a tongue in cheek… as we all know…they don’t exist.

    Project ‘Yoga’ Natal announced
    the real killer app

you hear that CAD, just what you have been waiting for!

  10. phranctoast:

They might as well make Natal for exercise only. With it’s limitations I can’t honestly see how good it could be with any other games other than really casual games.

  11. Wylie77:

I have to admit the light sabre with Move would be pretty cool. I would give phranctoast’s left testicle for that too!

  12. Roca.:

    lol @ Wylie77

  13. ncaissie:

“They might as well make Natal for exercise only. ”
I think the moms are the target with Natal.

  14. ncaissie:

“‘I would give phranctoast’s left testicle for that too!”

I would give his right one.

““They might as well make Natal for exercise only. ”
I think the moms are the target with Natal.”

Incorrect, overwhelmingly white families of four are the target of Natal. Its in everyone of their commercials.

  16. Rhino:

If Wylie is giving the left…and ncaissie is giving the right….

    Think i’ll just buy it.

Though phran’s idea of a lightsaber game would be fucking awesome!!

“They just like to go into the Sony threads to start shit.”
