Scans: God of War III to get new multiplayer mode

March 30, 2010

Scans: God of War III to get new multiplayer mode A recent scan taken from the latest European Playstation Mag reveals that God of War III may get a new multiplayer mode. As reported earlier, those who were brave enough to earn the Platinum trophy received a link to a secret Web site.

The secret Web site shows a countdown timer and a storm brewing in the background. As the counter ticks down, the storm seems to get worse. There has been a great deal of speculation as to what will be revealed, ranging from DLC to a new game announcement.

The site’s URL reveals a hint to what it could be. Part of the URL has the words, “Spartans Stand Tall” in it. Many speculated that this could be a hint to some kind of multiplayer DLC.

The latest scan taken from the European Playstation Mag is actually quite telling. The headline seems to indicate that this will be revealed in April 2010, which does coincide with when the counter on the site will expire. The scan also reveals that the multiplayer mode will be delivered via DLC.

The pictures reveal a Mortal Kombat like versus fight screen, with health bars on both sides and a timer in the middle.

Hmmm.. gods of Olympus (X-men), titans.. Kratos.. could this be the unveiling of God of War “Kombat,” with fatalities and killer combos? I’m getting Goosebumps just thinking about it. Stay tuned for more information.

The Mortal Kombat series is official dead. The series died out in Deadly Alliance. When Shang Tsung killed Liu Kang, that did it for me. I knew then that Mortal Kombat was official TRASH.

I used to be a hardcore fan for Mortal Kombat growing up but the new spin offs from it ruin the prior epic experience :-)

    hey thats good news.cant wait
oh yeah . I hate my fuckin job. I’m so bored

  3. phranctoast:

That first fight with Zeus felt very oldschool 2-1/2D fighter. I’ll have to take a wait and see approach. The fighting genre sucks as far as I’m concerned.

  4. RomasantaMC:

    @Fos
you’ve never played Dc Vs. mortal kombat have you.

  5. gunstar:

How about a Spartan versus another “Spartan”?

  7. phranctoast:

We’ll see Tosh. Sounds to me like a poor translation. They have said what’s free now will remain free. It would make them total liars.

    key word = “Rumor”

  9. ncaissie:

    @Mike
‘The secret Website shows a countdown timer and a storm brewing in the background. ”

    I didn’t see any timer.

    “@Fos
you’ve never played Dc Vs. mortal kombat have you.”
I have it. I love the game but I suck at it LOL. My daughter can get further then I can.

  10. ncaissie:

Whatch this be Sonys April fools joke. :(

  11. phranctoast:

I f’in hate Aprils Fools. SF sucks, but it’s the jerk-offs that play the early AF jokes that really piss me off.

If it isn’t on April Fools it’s not an April Fools joke. Then….there is a name for it… It’s called lying. Dickheads :(

  12. ncaissie:

LOL true phranc. I don’t even bother with the news that day and take any news before it with a grain of salt.

  13. Roca.:

this looks like a big scam

the Zeus scan is on a 2D field and the Hercules one is on a 3D field. plus I dont think it’s balance enough to make a fighting game.

  14. The Future of Sega:

    @Fos
you’ve never played Dc Vs. mortal kombat have you.

Nope and I don’t care to either :-P Mortal 1, 2, 3, Ultimate MK 3, Trilogy, MK 4, and MK Gold were the best!

I’ll admit I like the concepts of Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon but they slowed the action down to a tard level.

What ever happen to brutalities and fatalities with a sense of creativity?? The new MK games suck hard.

  15. Roca.:

I liked the N64 Mortal Kombat Zub Zero game

    Don’t want any spoilers.

Still have GoW3 sitting on the shelf. I’ll get to it in another week or so. I’m really looking forward to it.

  17. Roca.:

    ncaissie,
did you try again yesterday after I left?

  18. ncaissie:

    no

I went to bed lol. When I join a public game it connected no problem. I need to wire my PS3 directly to the router. And if need be directly to the modem during online.

  19. Roca.:

why, you dont get strong signal from you router??

  20. Roca.:

are you going to be on today?

  21. ncaissie:

I do but I seem to get disconnected a lot. Even when I tried KZ2 I got booted.

  22. ncaissie:

I have used 5 different routers and my internet sucks when going through a router.
When I connect directly to the cable modem it is fast. I just don’t get it. Dam Rogers keeps telling me to connect directly. I think I should go to DSL.

  23. Roca.:

    you have cable or DSL?
    DSL sucks for online gaming.

  24. ncaissie:

    cable

  25. Roca.:

    Cable is much better!!
and if you have too much shit connected to you router you might want to use a wired connection on you PS3

  26. CAD:

    Ncaissie

Once everything is connected the way you want it unplug your modem and router for like 30 sec and plug in your modem first wait for all 4 lights to go solid then plug in your router. Might work but no guarantees. My 360 has no problems with rogers no matter how I’m connected but if I unplug a wire and plub it back in I will have issues but resetting the router will make it work fine.

  27. ncaissie:

The problem is it gets slow all the time even connected direct. I think it is programmed in the modem to fuckup when people use routers. I have a 80211n router.

  28. Roca.:

you have a good router but when you are sharing your connection between 6-8 devices you online gaming is going to suffer

  29. CAD:

    Test the speed with

    http://speedtest.net/

    or

    Rogers speed test

By the way what service level do you have with Rogers.

  30. Roca.:

you can also a “connection test” on you PS3, it will read and tell you your download and upload speed.

and on the Internet connection info, you should be able to see you signal strength…I will say Below 90% sucks for gaming

  31. ncaissie:

    I have the second highest.
It was the highest but they just came out with a new one not long ago. I also go over the 105GB limit each month and pay an extra $25. Flipin rip-off.
If I didn’t use a fraction they sure wouldn’t give me a discount.

  32. Roca.:

so you going to try wired today?

  33. SW:

Shaw cable ftw. Went thru a period where I dl’d over 300GB a month, and they never complained once :)

I’m not too sure about a GoW MP mode. Seems like you’re just get together and mash buttons. Kinda like the old Jedi Knight games, light saber fighting was more luck than anything.

  34. b0xel:

you know i used to have that problem with my router, always getting kicked out of online matches.then i just connected my laptop to the internet and then connected the ps3 directly via the laptop by sharing the network.now i usualy get 3 bars in cod waw.

  35. CAD:

So you have extreme plus. If that’s true something is definately wrong. I have Extreme and it works just fine. OK on second thought I’m not sure what I have. I got to check my bill. They did make some changes but I’m not sure if I got express or extreme. Looking at the price I would guess express is what I got. 10 Mbps is more then enough for online gaming.

  36. b0xel:

“10 Mbps is more then enough for online gaming.”
trust me, its not about the speed, ping is about the distance from sv and other elements,I have a friend with a 524 kbps down, 128 up and his ping is great.

  37. CAD:

That only matters with DSL. The closer the better but with cable pings don’t mean that much. That’s my understanding at least.

  38. CAD:

I was on lite before and it was horrible 3mbps service. It laged like crazy especially if I hosted.

  39. harry sachz:

I have my PS3 wireless using a Dlink 2740B, and have not had any sort of latency issues when going online.

Transferring files is about a quarter of the speed of when it was connected to ethernet (will revisit this during the lull of releases next month), and I can’t stream anything from my laptop without it stuttering, but it seems to go ok for online gaming.

  40. RomasantaMC:

    @Cad
I think boxel is right, 3Mps is way more than you need for gaming. It could be your Isp is filtering your bandwith. But it depends if the game is server or peer to peer heavy.

    @ncaissie
    A few tips
1.set ps3 bandwith allocation to the highest in QOS
    2.set ps3 in router’s DMZ
    3.turn off bandwith heavy devices.

  41. SW:

Ping is ping regardless of your method of connection.
(There is a distance limit from the exchange on DSL but that’s something totally diff.)

A couple of weeks ago I was getting 2-500ms pings to ‘hops’ inside of Shaw’s network :| made games unplayable.

  42. harry sachz:

Well at least you’re only having issues with wireless. My TV died on me last week (it’s been on the blink since the lightning strike). It’s under warranty, and they no longer make the part for the main board that blew up, so Samsung are going to send me a new TV, but I have to wait for a week.

To make matters worse, GOW3 arrived on Monday. I’ve read the manual, but there’s not much more I can do with it at the moment haha.

  43. CAD:

At least Samsung is replacing your TV.

  44. harry sachz:

True CAD. I didn’t mention any lightning strike, learnt my lesson with that.

  45. ncaissie:

“so you going to try wired today?”

When I got home my brother asked me to help him build some cabinets so I didn’t get a chance.

I’m not going to get another chance until next week.
I have contract work to do tonight and I’m leaving town tomorrow night. My limit is 125GB and I still go over every month.

There has to be something wrong with cod waw servers. We connected in mw2 no problem.

  46. ncaissie:

“Well at least you’re only having issues with wireless. My TV died on me last week (it’s been on the blink since the lightning strike). Man you have shitty luck dude.

  47. ncaissie:

    The thing is:
Even when I connected with a Wire to any router I was being booted from Home one night. Then I connected the PS3 directly to the modem and it was lightning fast and no drops. I’m wondering if my Modem is messed up. I’ll call Rogers on Monday to get a new one.

  48. RomasantaMC:

    @ncaissie
sounds like someone is hogging your bandwith or your router isn’t dishing out your bandwith right, happened to me a while back.

  49. ncaissie:

    “@ncaissie
sounds like someone is hogging your bandwith or your router isn’t dishing out your bandwith right, happened to me a while back.”

“or your router isn’t dishing out your bandwith right”

Probably this one because it is the same if the PS3 is the only thing connected.

  50. ncaissie:

But I have tried 4-5 routers.

  51. ncaissie:

And set DMZ to the PS3 every time.

  52. twilight:

    Ncaissie,
I’m glad I don’t have to worry about bandwidth limits. I’m sure I would probably go over the limit all of the time as well.

  53. ncaissie:

At first they sent letters. Then they started charging $5 per gig over at $25 max. I think they throttle me because I use Utorrent.

  54. Roca.:

did you check your upload/download speed on the PS3?

  55. RomasantaMC:

    @ncaissie
my isp throttled my bandwith for awhile when I was torrenting until they finally got fed up and threaten to terminate my connection. But they never put on such a throttle to effect my gaming.

  56. harry sachz:

    @ norman,

“Man you have shitty luck dude.”

    Tell me about it.

  57. phranctoast:

Are they shipping it to you for free at least?

  58. harry sachz:

Yep, they’re even going to take the broken TV with them.

I just tried hooking my PS3 up to the LCD in the bedroom but I received a ‘mode not supported’ message on the TV. I am guessing it’s because I set my PS3 as 1080p and the tv in the bedroom can only go up as far as 720p. Worth a try! I am just going to have to wait.

  59. Roca.:

    before turning on the system
Hold the power button until you hear a second ‘beep’, the system will automatically scan the settings from you TV.

  60. harry sachz:

Sweet! i’ll give that a crack now

  61. harry sachz:

    Success!

  62. harry sachz:

Now I wish I didn’t lend the brother in law my copy of GOW3. Actually I’ll wait till I get the big TV back for that game.

  63. phranctoast:

    You still need GOW collection!!!!

  64. Roca.:

“Now I wish I didn’t lend the brother in law my copy of GOW3. Actually I’ll wait till I get the big TV back for that game.”

you dont have any luck huh..LMAO
