Microsoft begins hype: Gears Of War 3 to be “biggest blockbuster” of 2011
The existence of Gears Of War 3 is now out in the open, with a leak followed by the official announcement a few days later. And if hype were the measure of a game’s success, Gears Of War 3 would already be a hit.
As Mike reported, Gears Of War 3 looks set to up the ante, providing even the most experienced campaigners a challenge. And not only has the first video trailer hit the Web, Microsoft is already talking up the game, even though it’s not going to be released for another year.
Impressive stuff, but is it worthy of the pronouncement that, “Gears of War 3 Ignites Anticipation as the Biggest Blockbuster Game of 2011.” Which, according to Play.tm, is how Microsoft titled the press release.
There’s no doubting Gears Of War 3 is a massive release, and likely to form the basis which Microsoft builds its Xbox 360 lineup for 2011 around. But I’m guessing Sony will have several huge titles up its sleeve too. And Nintendo might even chip in as well.

And many more, Sony could easily. If Sony wants to it can make everyone forget about Gears of War by announcing God of War IV or a prequel like they did for God of War one on PSP.
Gears of War lacks in multiplayer plus story the only thing EPIC Games got going is decent graphics with bloated looking players Gears of War 2 would still not look as good as any PS3 exclusive since Xbox 360 is not even close to being as powerful as the PLAYSTATION 3.
Sony has beaten Microsoft in games always so Dave you know Sony is going to trump all. Sony is on a stampede.

As for the game, trailer looks ok. I didn’t think much of Gears 2 tbh. I felt like I was doing the same 3 things over and over. Run to cover, shoot enemies without moving much, making sure the area is clear and rinse repeat. I suppose the same could be said about many games, but when a game gets hyped to high heaven you really expect something more. Still, I guess it was not a bad game.

It’s a matter of what you like. I have always enjoyed the Gears Of War games. The games are not flawless but they are a blast to play. I don’t think that the Gears Of War games are any more hyped up then any of the other games that come out.

Killzone 3 is confirmed, Uncharted 3 has been hinted at very strongly and I have not heard anything about Infamous 2 yet. I hope there is an Infamous 2, I really enjoyed the 1st one! Also no release dates have been confirmed! Even if there were, I would not trust them, release dates change all the time!

Sony is waiting to announce them at at E3 i have no idea why unless they got awesome trailers since we all know the whole entire world knows they are in the making. It’s still to early IMO to get excited over games that haven’t given a firm release date. I could speculate as to when your list will arrive on store shelves, and I’m sure they’re all 2011 titles, but as announced titles go, I stand by my pick.
It’s also a bit premture ragging on gears 3. If it’s anything like the other two games, 360 fans have something to look forward to. It’s also going to make you look like a crow eating ass, when they extend the series and announce ps3 titles in that universe.

Gears of War 3 is just going to be fucking awsome. It’s definately a must have for me.
My nephew and I went through 1 on every difficulty level and it was one of the best experiences ive ever had in a game. Insane difficulty was fucking insane.
We never did go through all the difficulties with GoW2. We only got to play through it once cause i sold it off. I only did that cause I knew there was going to be a Game of the year edition with all the DLC on it and it was only gonna cost like $30, so I figured I would sell it while i could still get something for it so I could get the GoTY edition later. Which I haven’t gotten yet lol. But I will before I get 3 and I know I will go through it again with my nephew

I had some minor gripes with Gears 2, but overall I still loved it.
As a sequal I thought it had a slightly different feeling than Gears 1 did.
I think what really got me though was the fucking Hammerburst.
In Gears 1 the Hammerburst was fucking awsome, but in Gears 2 it was altered way too much. The design was changed too much… It looks ugly in 2… and they really made it almost useless in 2. It was so weak.

Killzone 3 was confirmed.
Nolan North (voice of Nathan Drake) confirmed that he has already started mocaping for the next Uncharted game.
Infamous 2 has not been confirmed but based buy the game’s ending you can tell it will definitely come out.

I really enjoy the Gears series! However, lets be honest here! Gears 2 was not a big step forward from Gears 1. They are both excellent games in their own right, but they are pretty close to one another! I think it a bold statement on your part! I respect your opinion, but my opinion is based on the facts I have seen for myself! I’m sure Gears 3 will be amazing! How could it not be? Not sure it will be a huge leap from 2 though, time will tell!
The Xbox 360 has been showing it’s age for awhile now. Not too much more they can get out of it. PS3 on the other hand keeps putting out better and better looking games each year! I’m really looking forward to the other titles you mentioned as well! I just have to get a new 360, mine red ringed!

I could get a cheap 360 at any point and I’m very capable of modding it and not paying anything but the cost of media to get games but I don’t see the 360 even worth the trouble. as much as people talk shit about the different systems, IE PS3 and 360, there ia something worth playing on both systems.
Gears of War is definately one of the best new franchises this generation and the series is worth playing.
But of course you have that PS3 wedged so far up your ass that you get a mild electrical shock everytime you think about checking out a 360.
I don’t think either of you are “true gamers”. Technically you cannot be considered a true gamer if your a fanboy. A true gamer is open to the possibilities of checking out games on other systems.

I mentioned both. Even if they iron out the response time, which I really doubt will be universal to all games, they still need to get over that barrier of not having a controller present. Natal will therefore be limited to casual only games.

I think you’ll find we’ve recently seen Microsoft people out saying the idea of Natal meaning, always, ‘no controller’ is a misconception.
Some of the new games will be best (or only playable) without a controller and others will undoubtedly combo both.
It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with – but I expect things to get really good with the 2nd wave of games as devs digest what really works well & what doesn’t quite come off.

I must admit that this is the quietest Arcade Xbox360 that I ever had. It was manufactured in 2010. It’s louder than the Ps3 but it is no where near as loud as it usually is. I’ve been quite surprised at how quiet the system is considering it’s a Xbox360.

Save you game to it & then run the game from there, once you shut the DVD drive from spinning the Xbox is as ‘normal’ as any other console – in fact when the fans start up on my mate’s PS3 that is now the louder of the 2.

Hey I’ll admit that the 360 had flaws with the RROD and it sucks for those who had problems in the early days but hey it had a 3 year warrenty so it’s not like you had to buy another one so when ncaissie makes his bone headed comments about it cost more is just plain stupid and a typical PS3 Fanboy comment. RROD is a thing of the past so it’s pretty stupid to keep flogging the horse over a dead issue. I, like Happy, have never had RROD either and the system has been great but the real issue is that the PS3 is in last place and the Fanboys hate it so they hate on the 360 for any reason just because they worship a system.

I’ll get a hard drive in about two weeks or so. There’s some stuff on Xbox360 live that I want to download. I have to say that Netflix runs much better on the Xbox360. It runs much quicker and smoother than the Ps3 version.

Npd results are for march CAD. There’s no question that there were shortages in march. Even when mile/Dave put up the February npd results it was two weeks into march and he showed that you could get a ps3 trough amazon through a reseller at about $70 over retail as amazon didn’t have them stocked.
Right now we’re in a better situation as far as stock is
concerned. April NPD results should reflect that.

The tales this time are of them producing a slim Xbox, 250gb hard drive, Natal & game bundle.
Some hardware revision is expected (probably the use, at last, of the 45nm SoC combo GPU & CPU, long rumoured to be going under the SKU name of ‘Valhalla’).
Looks like my 250gb Super Elite is not going to be resident at mine for too much longer.

I don’t think it will be a price drop. I think the 360 slim will be cheaper but the cheaper cost will be somewhat absorbed by the bundled Natal unit.
In saying that, they may release a “lite” version 360 slim which would be cheaper (no bundled Natal). This would no doubt re-invigorate 360 sales. Sony would need something in the bag to counter this, as they have already done the “slim” thing. I would suggest Sony would not want to lose momentum, particularly now that they have gotten on a pretty good roll now.
Time will tell and some interesting times ahead

Gears of war three will be using the unreall engine 3.5 and you can tell a huge difference between gears one (unreal engine)2.5 and gears 2 (unreal engine)3.0 . The game is going to be using as much potental as your 360 can handdle and for people who think the graphics sucks name a game and i bet its supported by the unreal engine. Sorry I don’t agree with you there! I have played both games! In my opinion Gears 2 was not a big leap forward in graphics! It is a very nice looking game, but not much better or even better then Gears 1!

You do realize that could also swing the way in favor of the Ps3 so a HUGE difference is noticeable.
On another note if the consoles look the same that doesn’t mean the Ps3 version won’t run smoother. So any amount of extra performance is better.

WOW this was a blog on Gears of War 3, not battle of the fanboys. I have both systems, and they both have their ups and downs, ps3 does have better exclusives.. but thats because the games are made on BLUE REAY DISCS so they hold more data! The online experience on the 360 is much superior than that of the ps3.. thats because we pay for it so Microsoft has the money to spend on “online extras.” You just cant compare a square to a circle.
Well..back to the topic. Gears of war 3!! the reason i bought an xbox was because of Gears of war 1!
