Demon’s Souls picked up for European distribution – finally

April 15, 2010

Demon’s Souls picked up for European distribution - finally Many gamers in Europe were disappointed to hear that Demon’s Souls would not be releasing outside the U.S. and Japan. However, recent findings indicate that the game may finally be heading overseas to Europe.

The only reason Demon’s Souls landed in the U.S. was by the will of Atlus. The publisher decided to take a gamble and have the game localized for U.S. distribution. Unfortunately Atlus’s reach only extends to the U.S. as the publisher has no presence in Europe.

Atlus’s main PR guy Aram Jabbari apologized to bitter European PS3 owners and provided some hope by saying if Demon’s Souls sells well in the U.S., a bigger publisher may pick it up for European distribution. It seems like this is exactly what has happened.

Atlus projected that Demon’s Souls would sell 75,000 units in the U.S. However, according to Silconera Demon’s Souls sold 280k some units as of February 2010, exceeding Atlus’s expectations. VGChartz’s estimated figures indicates that the game  may have sold as much as 540k units to date and 740k units world wide.

According to Kotaku a new listing for Demon’s Souls popped up on Germany’s ratings board recently. It seems like a giant publisher (Namco Bandai) did indeed pick up the game for distribution across Europe.

European sales will probably match U.S. sales giving Namco Bandai a nice boost in its lineup. However, I can’t help imagine that there is a high level exec at Namco Bandai kicking himself for not picking up worldwide publishing rights for Demon’s Souls from the beginning. It looks like Atlus will continue to bring great niche games to the U.S. with 3D Dot Game Heroes this May.

Hahahaha, good one! Good game but it fuck it’s a bitch! lol

the game is not that hard once you pass the first leve (kill the first demon), after that you can get help from other online players and you can level up.

the hard part (and time consuming) comes from farming souls and getting destroy by Black Phantoms (other players ivading you games to kill and steal your souls), but once again you can farm at someone else’s game and gain souls from their game, if you die you wont lose any souls as you ONLY lose souls in you OWN game/world.

DS is great until you beat a level. Once you know enemy positions and the level layout, it becomes very easy to get thru them.

You don’t really need to farm tbh either. The game isn’t THAT hard, it just doesn’t have checkpoints like most/all new games these days.

Its a great game tho. I just wish that it was longer, or that there was some kind of DS RPG using the same moving/fighting mechanics.

comes in June for those of you in Europe.
make sure you play them with friends, the game is way more fun and more rewarding playing it with friends.

here are some early tips you will need to know in order to play with your friend.

for you and someone to be able to play together you will need to be less than 10 levels apart from each other. a level 40 charactr cannot play with a level 60. you have to be 10 levels or less higher/lower than the other character.

in Demon’s Souls you can choose when you want to level up and what stat you want to boost, just make sure you dont lose all you souls and if you die just make SURE you dont die again on your way to recover those lost souls as you will only get ONE chance to recover them.

actually its a little more complicated

    Level Restrictions
Add 10 to 10% of your current Soul level to find the range (above or below your SL) within summoning or being summoned by other player(s).

  17. Roca.:

    @RomasantaMC
I really dont understand the level restriction you just posted, I do know that players with 11 levels above or below yours wont be able to be summoned.

I spend over 180hrs in that game (im at level 205) and I got to played with Barnabe Jones for the most part and we had to wait on each other to be ‘at least’ 10 levels apart from each other.

    look under level restrictions.

Example: if your LV100 you can summon anyone 20Lvs above or below yours.
    The formula is
10+10%(Of your soul level)=(amount +or- of soulLV you can summon or be summoned to)

If your were 205 you should only had to wait til he was within 30LVs of you to play with him.

  19. RomasantaMC:

“If your were 205 you should only had to wait til he was within 30LVs of you to play with him.”
actually that is incorrect because after the formula was applied to him he would not meet the requirments to be summoned to your world. But he should have easily been summoned in at level 180

  20. Roca.:

    @RomasantaMC
ohhhh sounds better, maybe it change now because whenever BJ and I tried it with 11+ levels apart from each other it never worked….even at around 150.

I really want a sequel for this game, I will be please even if they dont change anything from the first one…maybe a little longer but the whole game was awesome.

  21. Ivan_PSP:

    I’m working on it.

  22. JofaMang:

I have to get my copy back from my nephew and play it somemore again, I can’t even remember what lvl I retired it at (250 ithink?).

  23. CarlB:

“Isreal gos country bans iPad over everything. CarlB would be piss off that his life was ban there.”

Guess it’s a good thing I currently live in Japan, where iPods rule, and iPads are soon to follow, if they can ever stop selling out in America to make them available here that is.

  24. Ivan_PSP:

Sure okay i live in HEAVEN.

  25. CarlB:

Really? Say hi to Toshi for me.

    http://www.theheavencity.com/project.html

Oh… you meant THAT heaven… that’s funny, I thought you would have been able to play GT5 up there by now at least. You must have been bad.
