LittleBigPlanet 2 inadvertently confirmed

April 18, 2010

LittleBigPlanet 2 is on the way, at least if you believe some unknown musician on Twitter. Which I do, strangely.

I had no doubts Media Molecule was working on a LittleBigPlanet sequel. With the first being a huge success on the PS3, and MM now being part of the Sony family, it was always going to happen. However, Sony hasn’t yet announced LittleBigPlanet 2. No worries, though, as its existence has been inadvertently leaked.

According to IGN, electronic musician Ochre (Christopher Leary) recently tweeted:

Pleased to announce the licensing of ‘Infotain Me’ to Sony for Little Big Planet 2 on PS3. #sellout #corporatewhore

As long ago as July 2009, MM execs were hinting that a sequel was on the way, and this seems to confirm that as being the case. The fact they’re now licensing the music suggests that an announcement isn’t far away. E3 2010 in June, anyone?

The big question is what will be added for the sequel. There will obviously be a new set of MM-made levels, but will there also be new tools for making levels, and new tricks for Sackboy to pull off? I hope so.

    I guess.

LBP2 needs more visual wow factor in the form of brilliant colors & lighting. Tho LBP was awesome the dull sometimes dark earth colors limited its appeal & wasn’t as compelling as a Mario game.
They also need to replace ole grand pa’s voice with a younger one like Johnny Depp or my nephew’s sexy teacher.
Before I thought Sony really needed family oriented games like LBP. I think Playstation Move is the answer to that. Where are the Japanese developers Sony, they are supposed to be good at these types of games.

    Old grandpa??? It’s Stephen Fry!!!

  5. gunstar:

“Fry has claimed to hold the UK record for saying “fuck” the most times on a live television broadcast.”
As of today I havent hear a single word.
Now that’s innovation on a PS3 game for kids. ^_^
