New Bungie game “Halo on steroids”

April 30, 2010

Yesterday saw Bungie sign a 10-year deal with Activision which will see the developer making games for multiple platforms. And Sony cannot wait to see what Bungie can do on the PS3.

Bungie was once a Microsoft-owned developer making games exclusively for the Xbox 360. Now, it’s independent and working on games for multiple platforms, including the Playstation 3.

No one yet knows what game Bungie is working on but, according to CVG, Sony spokesperson Patrick Seybold is already excited, tweeting:

Congrats to Bungie. Marrying their creative minds and incredible talent to the power of PS3 will be like giving PS3 fans Halo on steroids.

“Halo on steroids” sounds good. In fact, I’m already wet with anticipation. I just hope the multi-platform route doesn’t mean the games will be dumbed down to work on various systems. Some developers pull it off, but others don’t, and Bungie cannot afford to mess this up now it’s left the safe embrace of Microsoft.

Bravo to Bungie…hope they’re not expecting to be paid.

2011 might be the year of strong 3PS war!
Uncharted 3 versus Gears of War 3 and rumor has it that Bungie’s next game is also a 3PS slated next year.

And to hell with “identical games”! They give a bad name to multiplatform games. And that is disservice to gamers. Back in the 16 & 32 bit era developers were honorable enough to maximize rival consoles potential now its all about money and politics.

Bungie is gonna print money if they make thier first good game especially since is on PS3 also and most likely PC and Activision is having a rocky year but this deal will be good for everyone.
