The mystery of David Jaffe’s new game deepens

May 24, 2010

The mystery of David Jaffe's new game deepens David Jaffe the creative mind behind the first God of War game and the Twisted Metal series dropped some hints today as to what he is working on. Jaffe’s studio, Eat Sleep Play has been hard at work on a mysterious game for some time.

Many have speculated it to be a Twisted Metal game for the PS3. However, today Jaffe surprisingly dropped some hints by tweeting that this may not be the case. When a gamer asked him about Twisted Metal, Jaffe stated, “By the way, I WISH we were making a new Twisted Metal. Making game you’ve already worked on is tons easier cuz your core blueprint is…”

He also stated, “Although I gotta admit, doing new design/IP stuff IS fun. But days like today you just WISH you already knew the formula that worked!”

This seems to confirm that Eat Sleep Play is working on a new IP, which contradicts earlier reports of a Twisted Metal for the PS3. Jaffe also confirmed that Eat Sleep Play will not be attending E3 so his game will not be shown at the show.

@MotiD Sony has not asked us and given it’s 3 weeks away, my guess is u r correct: no Eat Sleep Play game at E3.

Jaffe’s comments have piqued my interest as to what this new IP is all about. I guess we will just have to wait till later this year.

We all know is not the stupid TM game is a new IP not a sequel to an old car combat killing IP. I hope is good. He made God of War 1 well the story. That was okay. Just because ESP is not being allow to this year’s E3 means that they won’t have something announce by SCEA.

Well, we knew the new game wasn’t going to be at E3 this year as jaffe told us months ago about that.

I still believe it’s some sort of twisted metal game as we know from hints that it involves car combat at the very least.

It’s probably a re-imagining of twisted metal then. They mentioned how the last real game was made over 10 years ago. Games have changed as well as fans. Maybe it’s a more up to date styled car combat game.

Or. …. Who knows. Jaffe has been known to fib a bit to cause turmoil in the fanboy world. He pays close attention to neogaf.

I think jaffe is full of it now……he has hinted a new TM game then suddenly now he is saying is a new IP.

his company made TM: Head-on Twisted Edition and there were many clues in the game saying that TM will come out for PS3.

Jaffe also said his game will be announced this year, so if its not at E3 where else can his ‘new game’ make a big buzz??

I love CAC. It needed more levels, but you can’t complain for the price.
