Former Sony exec: PSP2 needs to be released
Former Sony executive David Reeves recently stated that Sony needs to release the PSP2 now. Reeves feel that the company needs to put out the next gen handheld in order to reinvigorate the PSP.
According to GI.biz [via Eurogamer], Reeves indicated that Nintendo has been getting the handheld release right as the company recently announced two versions of the DS within the same year.
Reeves stated, "It’s an exciting time and you could possibly have two handhelds coming out within months or a year of each other."
When asked if he expects Sony to release the PSP2 within the next 12 months, he indicated that would be a likely scenario. Even though the PSP2 has not been announced, reports seem to indicate that the device will be a “technological monster†with a built in touch-screen.

I agree with David Reeves, PSP2 needs to be announced and out before 3DS comes out, and it needs to be many times more powerful and do 3D better.

The DS’s graphics looked about as good as the N64. Now the 3DS is about on par with the PSP. So Nintendo finally is up to par with the PSP. I don’t think there is a huge rush for the PSP2.
