Sony PSP lineup revealed – much needed price drop missing
During Sony’s press conference the company unveiled the PSP’s lineup for 2010. However, one thing many gamers were expecting was a price drop for the PSP Go.
The PSP is set to have a great lineup with a mix of hardcore and casual games. Sony’s signature montage video revealed a bit more than announced in usual fashion. With very little information on Parasite Eve’s next game on the PSP, it was a relief to see a brief glimpse of The 3rd Birthday. Other titles such as Kingdom Heart: Birth by Sleep was also shown.
Here is a quick list of PSP games shown in the montage video:
- Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday
- Kingdom Heart: Birth by Sleep
- ModNation Racers
- Gravity Crash
- MGS: Peace Walker
- Gravity Crash
- Madden 11
- Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake
- Persona 3 PSP
- God of War: Ghost of Sparta
- Ace Combat: Joint Assault
- Invizimals
- Piyotama
- Tetris
- EyePet PSP
- HotShots Tennis: Get a Grip
- Patapon 3
- MIA: Resident Evil PSP – surprisingly no mention of this PSP exclusive title was made during the press conference.
It was also disappointing that Sony did not announce a much needed price drop for the PSPgo. Sony must realize that there are gamers sitting on the fence for this device due to its high price tag. It makes one wonder what Sony is cooking up behind closed doors.

@ PS3 owners,
Not sure if you have it over the US or Canada, but the Aus store has a free FIFA dynamic theme. It’s pretty crap, but free nonetheless.

@Harry
I think(at least, from my own experience) that the US PS store is the worst one between US, EU, JP, and Aus, when it comes to free stuff, especially dynamis themes. The only free dynamic theme they ever offered was Heavy Rain ER from Qore and that was crappy.

Thanks though, I know someone who would want to download that.

EU had a free WipEout dynamic theme. Not sure if it’s still there though.
“It makes one wonder what Sony is cooking up behind closed doors.”
If the rumours of a “technological monster” are true, then Sony has learnt nothing from the portable business. Look at the 3DS; it’ll be using a nearly 5 year old GFX chip by the time it launches.

@ lock_down,
Yep, it’s still in the AUS store. It’s not that great, but it’s free. The Pacific Rift one is free and that’s not too shabby.

Is the lineup that shitty that “Gravity Crash” had to be listed twice?

Wrong, Canada has the worst. We get nothing free. I got the LBP one for my kid but I won’t buy themes.
We do have a Free theme section but most are shitty. Then we have a premium themes and Dynamic Themes.
No free avatars either. Who would pay for them?

No one is sitting on the fence for a Go.
The handheld market is %90 kids. If they want to sell the PSP they need to make it kid friendly like the DSi. My kids picked up the camera stuff easy and love playing it. Handhelds are for on the go and most times the person who would play the PSP on the go will be the one doing the driving.

I bought the Flower dynamic theme with some some leftover PSN money. It’s nothing remarkable, but it does change from day to night depending on what time you use your PS3.

FKSP,
I have to disagree about the “shitty lineup”. Peace Walker just released and it’s one of the highest rated games this gen period.
Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts, and God of War all look incredible. Patapon and Fat Princess look good also.
The DS might get 20x more games in that time, but how many will actually end up being decent? Maybe 1 or 2?

How many do you think my 4 and 6 year olds will play?
I simply don’t have time for the PSP. I do like it though.

HOLD THE FUCKING TRAIN
There is another Parasite Eve coming out and I had no clue? Damn my voluntary ignorance of hand held gaming titles. Will I be able to download and play it on my PS3 without owning a PSP?

@jojo
how sad is that square enix is making it for the PSP…no wonder Japan is so behind the gen when it comes to ‘good next gen games’
June 23rd, 2010
I think they may have dropped “Parasite Eve” from the title. I think it’s now just called “The 3rd Birthday”. Aya Brea is still the lead though.
And yeah, it’s PSP only.
ncaissie,
There’s some stuff for 4-6 year olds. Like Eye Pet, Invisimals and Patapon (which is actually really good). Probably not God of War though lol.
June 23rd, 2010
Yeah but my point is there are a lot more kid friendly games like Dora and build a bear on the DS.
Sony’s target audience is not that into portable. Or doesn’t have time for it.
June 23rd, 2010
Yeah I agree with you.
June 23rd, 2010
@ncaissie and barnabe
Everyone i know that has a PSP uses it for more than just games. The ability to watch movies and listen to mmusic on it is also a bigger point than Sony themselves seem to realize.
If Sony would try to secure some more games that cater to hardcore type gamers than I am sure that it would finally be able to get some more repsect for the PSP.

i just use my PSP to download porn. . .nothin like a quick wank while on the bus or walking to work LMAO
June 23rd, 2010
How the fuck do you wank it while walking? I guess if it is small enough the back of your jeans zipper would be doing the wanking for you, provided the wee fella is standing at full attention.
June 23rd, 2010
hey idiot, its called a joke, but you do seem to have experience about the jeans zipper doing the wanking. . .poor man. lets pretend the “size doesnt matter, its how you use it” saying is true just for you!
June 23rd, 2010
