Bizarre promises ‘Blur 2′ is on way

Fans of Blur will be pleased to hear that a sequel is almost guaranteed. Even those of us who gave the game a wide berth should maybe take note.

Blur was generally well-received by critics but didn’t really sell in the numbers the ratings suggested it should. But no worries, as Bizarre Creations is in it for the longterm, with a desire to turn Blur into a strong franchise.

Bizarre Creations’ Nick Davies spoke to GamerZines, addressing the poor sales figures and the future of the series.

To be honest with you, I think it was a very busy time for racing games. It came out at the same time as ModNation Racers and Split/Second. It rates incredibly highly and it’s a very popular game, and I think it’s going to be a slow-burner. I think the multiplayer will stay for a long time and I think people will come back to that time and time again, long after some of the other games have gone back to the second-hand shelf.

Blur’s a fantastic game, and it’s the start of a big franchise for Bizarre. I don’t work on the Blur team specifically so I can’t speak for them, but it’s always been the plan to make the number one racing franchise. That’s as much as I can say!

Blur 2 is a go then. Or as near as damn it.

I must admit I wasn’t convinced enough by the first game to buy a copy, even though those who did seemed to like it. Maybe the sequel will pique my interest a little more.
