Xbox 360: Kinect hardcore games could look like this
Microsoft has been showing a slew of games for the Kinect. However, most of the games have been for the casual audience. This leaves the hardcore audience out in the cold. However, we glimpse what hardcore games for the Kinect could look like.
Ever wondered what it would be like to jack a car and punch elderly people in the face? Well with Kinect you just may be able to mime those actions.
LaughPong has crafted some neat videos showing what hardcore games could look like on Kinect.
The first game is something everyone should be familiar with. The video shows two girls playing GTA V.
The second video shows a guy trying to play the new Star Wars game shown at Microsoft’s E3 conference, which was a recorded footage.
Even though you’re swinging into the air there must still be some satisfaction in knowing that you actions are being reproduced onscreen.

They could of used some good looking girls.
Lost interest in Kasual the moment it said my living room is too small, fuckers.

Speaking of hardcore, my 60GB Xbox360 is turning one year this August and guess what not a single RROD incident! Thanks to the miracle of modding. Filipino technicians do wonders with modding and reinforcing consoles void of warranty and you never have to return the console again for repair.
In the Philippines modding is the S.O.P. for Xbox gamers as they sell mostly pirated games at 100 pesos or $2.50 per game.
My brother plays 360 at 40 degrees centigrade room temperature there in the Philippines. That’s enough to cause heat stroke here in Canada and US. He also uses a house electric fan to cool the 360 unit while playing and another electric fan for himself. LOL! That’s how he takes care of my 360. But still the fans are blowing hot air at around 35 degrees centigrade!
July 29th, 2010
Congrats to my Xbox 360! 1 year without RROD!

Congrats to my PS3! will be 1 year without YLOD!
Congrats to Sony selling 38.1 million PS3s!:)

@gunstar “Congrats to my PS3! will be 1 year without YLOD!”
Fuck Sony, this is my second machine which I got in March and it’s just now YLoD on me.
FUCK YOU SONY!!!!!!
That means now I have gone through 2 360′s and 2 PS3′s.
Can’t anyone make a fucking machine that lasts more than 1 year!!!!
FUCK YOU MS & SONY!!!!!
July 29th, 2010
And it still has my fucking game disc in it!!!

“The first game is something everyone should be familiar with. The video shows two girls playing GTA V.”
Shame on you Mike!! Do you have any idea how excited I got when I thought I was about to see some GTA V Footage? And it just turned out to be a fat broad playin the same old IV with a skinny chick. What way to burst my bubble. Crap!!
July 29th, 2010
That first video rocked. Just from the girls expressions alone. Great knee slapper.
The second one just reminded me as to how dissapointing the on rails star wars game will be.
July 29th, 2010
who the hell is hamburger?
July 29th, 2010
Is that CAD in that pic?
July 29th, 2010
@Rhino
Are you related to twilight? LOL if not you should hook up.
July 29th, 2010
Has anyone played Red dead revolver last gen? Was it like Red dead redemption?
July 29th, 2010
is this the type of experience CarlB and CAD have been raving about? LMAO.
July 29th, 2010
@Happy
Turns out you were smart to avoid that most recent bet like the plague.
The 360 was legitimately owned by the PS3 in hardware.
PS3: 2.4M
360: 1.5M
FYPS3: 14.3M
FY360: 10.3M
(According to MS 4th quarter and Sony’s 1st quarter)
Total:
PS3: 38.1M
360: 41.7M
As for software, Microsoft never released the amount of (units sold). Hmmmmmmm….suspicious.
July 29th, 2010
My responce to the first video…
Both girls are blonde and they look stupid as shit.
The girl “playing” obviously can’t drive. I mean women can’t drive anyway, and blonde women drive even worse. Kinect would just amplify that by 10x. I mean, just look at how many people she ran over!
Second video…
It’s just Star Wars Kid all over again…
@ncaissie
I played Red Dead Revolver. Redemption is WAY better. It bears little resemblence to Revolver.
I think there is a BIG explanation for this.
Revolver was originally being developed by Capcom. After several years of Dev they were going to can it, but Rockstar bought the rights and assets to it and finished it.
July 29th, 2010
wow PS3 is gona be 2nd soon! . . .bye bye xbox
July 29th, 2010
“I played Red Dead Revolver. Redemption is WAY better. It bears little resemblence to Revolver.”
Thanks
July 29th, 2010
“Revolver was originally being developed by Capcom. After several years of Dev they were going to can it, but Rockstar bought the rights and assets to it and finished it.”
Makes sense.
July 29th, 2010
@ncaissie
I did enjoy revolver though. I thought it did a pretty decent job of being a western game. Its no where near the GoTY-contender that Redemption is though.
Also there is no story continuity or anything like that. I don’t think I even seen a reference to Revolver in Redemption.
The only similarity really is the Dead-eye targetting and the western setting
July 29th, 2010
Any the little fact that the bad guy in Revolver is the good guy in Redemption.
July 29th, 2010
@Phranc
so during MS’ FY Sony outsold the 360 by 4M units, even with the NA shorages. PS3′s been on a roll lately on both software and hardware.
July 29th, 2010
Cool
July 29th, 2010
@phranc
Thats not true.
July 29th, 2010
@Liquid
I’m not really new here. I stopped writing when they made it compulsory to create an account to leave comments. Just didn’t bother to do it until now.
Was so pissed off at Mike, I just had to have a go at him.
Anyway, u fanboys keep bickering away. Keep me entertained for 5mins a day.
July 29th, 2010
@Fahkin
just going by what Rockstar said before the game released. The similarities between Marston and the cover of RD:revolver are also strange.
July 29th, 2010
@phranc
Well yeah, Marston and Red( the main character from Revolver) do share some resemblance but there is no relation in story between the 2 games.
Revolver took place in the late 1880′s
Marston was born in 1873 and was sent to an orphanage in 1881 which he didn’t leave till 1890 when he was 17.
So you see there is no connection and the bad guy in Revolver is not Marston. The bad guy in Revolver is actually some corrupt polictian
July 29th, 2010
I’ll try and dig up the interviews. Maybe their intentions changed during development.
July 29th, 2010
@phranc
I followed Redemption a little bit while it was still in development and i had never heard that.
As you can see though there is obviously no connection there besides the resemblence between Red and John.
July 29th, 2010

you just became a fanboy by joining this site. .

@Liquid
I’m getting the UK version of Demon’s Souls, are you still getting the game?
July 29th, 2010
Phranctoast
Too bad that by the end of this year that gain will be deminished.
July 29th, 2010
Jeeze all of this Kinect news. Honestly, I don’t think anyone cares about it.
After it releases, we’ll have to hear about all of the complaints and negative reviews for months after also.
I wish it would just hurry up and fail so we can move on to more important things, like good games.
July 29th, 2010
“I wish it would just hurry up and fail so we can move on to more important things, like good games.”
The same goes for move.
July 29th, 2010
I’m playing it at the mo Roca, my PS3 has mysteriously started working again… Probably will stop again soon, I’m going on holiday for a week tommorow, but will be happy to play inbetween my Starcraft sessions.
July 29th, 2010
@Torn_Steel
I’ll gladly play with you when you come back from vacation….are you from EU?
how far are you into the game? my copy won’t ship until after Aug 6 and then it takes abotu 2 weeks to arrive from UK.
July 29th, 2010
As my opponent stepped into the game (yep, it’s that easy, you just step in and out), I tried my luck at controlling a runaway mining train – yeah, I was good at that. Again, the more you want it (physically) the more the game will deliver as you grab with your hands for bonus points at the same time as jumping up and down for speed, and trying not to get side-swiped by all manner of nasty barriers.
At the end of each game, the system not only tells you who’s won, but it also delvers a sideshow of embarrassing Polaroid style snaps of your silly stances and expressions. This is a feature that we’re promised will feature heavily in many of the games – and when the full versions come out at the end of the year, you’ll be able to store them and if you so choose, upload them to Facebook and other websites for your friends to enjoy.
Well, if Kinect Adventures set me up, Dance Central knocked me down (almost literally, I was so tired by the end.) I was invited to become part of a dance troupe, as an instructor, myself and another journo strutted our stuff to Lady Gag’s Poker Face. If you’ve played any dance games before, you know what the deal is – but with Kinect, everything is just a little more intuitive.
When you ‘jump in’, the system immediately picks you up, assigns you an avatar, and just as quickly it begins noting how bad you are at dancing. Red circles appear around your avatar’s feet as you desperately try to get with the groove – when you see green, you can start to relax. When there’s a solo, it allows a ‘free dance’ mode and you’re invited to do whatever the hell you want – just when you think you’ve got away with your silliness, it plays back the video of your shenanigans … that pesky thing is too clever by half.
First up was Kinect Joyride, a high energy driving game. Hands out (like you are holding a steering wheel) the system locks onto your position and you’re away. At first it’s a rather disconcerting position to be in, stood in the middle of the room holding nothing and leaning into the bends to get point accumulating ‘drift’. However, after a few laps, you’re totally hooked, pumping your arms in and out to get the ‘boosts’ and spinning your whole body on jumps to pull of tricks.
There was also a half-pipe trick mode in the game where it was all about the stunts … after making a complete arse of myself in front of several onlooking Microsoft senior execs, I decided to go back to race-mode.
My final Kinect game of the day was on Kinectimals, a gentle but intriguing children’s game which takes the Tamagotchi into the 21st Century, and interestingly was the only game at the show that displayed Kinect’s voice recognition abilities.
Using the Minority Report style swooshing swipe screen, I chose to adopt a lion cub as my pet. I was then prompted to give it a name, I called him Barney. In ‘free mode’ I began to teach Barney tricks – how to jump, how to play dead, how to stand on his hind legs – basically whatever I did, he did too. At first Barney was rather poor, but he learns. If he gets bored and walks off, all you need to do is shout “Barney” and clap your hands, and like a real pet, he’s back with you.
Finally, once trained, I took Barney on an obstacle course, which involved me doing what he was doing on-screen. In otherwords, if he was balancing, I had my arms out and leaned left and right, if he was crawling through a tunnel, I was ducked down on the floor too.
OK, after a while the fun of Kinectimals wore off for me, but I’m 30 – and it’s designed for kids. I think if my young niece was let loose on that game, she’d be on it for hours … the only downside is she might ask for a Bengal Tiger from Father Christmas next year – parents beware.
And so, rather exhausted I reached the end of my Kinect odyssey – a lot happier than when I’d started.

Damn CAD can bust out a meaty wall of text.
I’m ashamed to admin I read the first few paragraphs and the last couple.
Kind of funny how Roca fired of a wall in another thread, and CAD shoots it down as opinion (which of course it was) and then decides to slap down his own wall of text opinion.
I dunno about the article tho. I dislike the writers complete love of the product (sure it could be just that amazing, but i doubt it) and the use of ‘Minority report’ which seems to be something gamers have been throwing around. I mean, does everyone in the world remember Minority Report?
I guess I’m a glass half full guy but it seems like a tastey PR pay off.
July 29th, 2010
“but it also delvers a sideshow of embarrassing Polaroid style snaps of your silly stances and expressions. ”
In other words:
“Shows you how stupid you look playing it.”
July 29th, 2010
@Roca
Yeah I live in England, it’s a bit difficult to describe how far I am, but I’m following the guide that comes with it, I’m at 5-1, the valley of Defilment, I’ve defeated quite a few demon’s and one Arch-Demon, the dragon god. i must say though, it is quite simply one of the best RPGs I’ve ver played, and is currently on running for my favourite game ever. Don’t make the mistake I did of consuming the amoured spider soul, the guide dosen’t mention what you can do with them and I missed out on a spell because of it, dosen’t really matter though as I got the one from the Dragon God which is practically the same but more powerful.
July 29th, 2010
@CAD
Nice source btw. You should have just left it off altogether. They don’t have a tab for games. It’s not even remotely a game site. I guess that’s truly insight into the audience that MS is looking for. Everyone except gamers. LMAO
Which Kinetic game/games are you looking forward to the most CAD?
July 29th, 2010
All of them LOL
July 29th, 2010
@Torn_Steel
I’ve never consumed any demon’s souls, they can be used for alot of things – like to forge a rare weapon or something. I already beat the US version of the game (close to 200hrs & character’s level 220) but this game is so good that I kind of want to replay it again during the summer drought.
Demon’s Souls is by far one of the best game this generation and I hope they make a sequel for it. I love the combat system of the game.
btw, what’s your character level? we have to be within 10 levels apart from each other to play the game.
July 29th, 2010
@CAD
“All of them LOL”
I don’t blame you…..after the Halos and Gears Kinect motion shovelware is all you guys have.
July 29th, 2010
OK If I disappear after today don’t fret I’ll be back by Tuesday or Wednesday. It’s Caribana Weekend here in Toronto so it will be a crazy weekend of partying, Picking up Girls, Going to the parade, getting high and drunk and having a great time. Oh I wish you could all be here instead of aguing about consoles. My clubbing starts tonight and won’t stop until Sunday. Good Times!!!
July 29th, 2010
Thought you were married…..
July 29th, 2010
“Thought you were married…”
Greenberg probably won’t find out about it
July 29th, 2010
@Phranc – Swingers
Lets hope he doesn’t get himself in any trouble for being drunk and/or high. We all know his choice of going down is ‘death by cop’…
July 29th, 2010
Geez just stop defending that pos(Kinect being too casual and w/e else) already.
I maybe a PS/Sony fanboy, but I aknowledge when they make stupid mistakes. Stop taking it bending down from MS and move on.
July 29th, 2010
@Roca
Totaly agree on DS being one of the best games this generation. Just got my platinum trophy in it, I think I loved every moment of the game. 235+ hours in.
Didn’t they say that they changed their mind about a sequal? Hopefully not.
July 29th, 2010
I am but I’ll be playing setup role for all my buddies. My cousin is in town from Boston with 10 of his people plus all my buddies here and I understand family is coming to town plus my buddies from NY might come so this weekend will be crazy and on top of all that my cousin will be gitting married on Sunday. Don’t worry I’ll be taking the wife out tomorrow night.
July 29th, 2010
Oh and that cousin that’s getting married I took him to the strip club for the first time in his life and now the dude want’s to go back tonight. Oh what did I do to him right before his wedding LOL.
July 29th, 2010
I find that once your married that fear of talking to women goes right out the door. That’s why I’m the perfect setup man for this weekend. They will all thank me when it’s all over.
July 29th, 2010
“Going to the parade”
Weren’t you just in the GP Parade?
July 29th, 2010
From Boston and NY?
Is that Roca and Phranc? LOL
July 29th, 2010
“I find that once your married that fear of talking to women goes right out the door.”
That is what the beer is for.
July 29th, 2010
“I find that once your married that fear of talking to women goes right out the door.”
Oddly enough it that works while dating. It’s like the women can smell commitment.
honestly though..It’s confidence they smell, and when you straight up don’t give a shit because you already have a “significant other” it drives them crazy.
July 29th, 2010
Not sure Roca, I think it’s in the twenties last time I checked, that was some time ago, I started off as a Royal, they have the lowest soul level.
July 29th, 2010
Phranctoast
So true. If some guys would just get rid of their shyness and just be straight up they will be more sucessful with women. Being confident goes a long way with women. They like to be dominated they just won’t admit it. Women also love bad boys the problem is they try to change you and that where the problem comes in.
July 29th, 2010
Here are some pictures from google of the Caribana Parade.

“Women also love bad boys the problem is they try to change you and that where the problem comes in.”
That always cracked me up.
They fall for you for a reason, and then they want to change you.
Too True.
July 29th, 2010
@Torn_Steel
Royal is the best class (at least for me) to start off, they carry an item that regenerates your MP bar and they have a decent long range attack which comes in handy when you’re a noob and want to survive a lil longer.
July 29th, 2010
Yeah, Soul Arrow is good against the blue knights in 1-1 at least.
I actually think that Ivan has finally left us, either that or his ‘vacation’ was actually a round the world trip, something that I doubt he could afford after his numerous PS3s. Though if I were him, I’m not sure I could stand comming back, imagine it.

Both CAD and Phranc are right, confidence means a hell of a lot, so does a good sense of humour, maybe we should ask twilight’s opinion?
July 29th, 2010
Like the new avatar Roca! How do you change them BTW, I’ve had a lot of trouble with Gravatar
July 29th, 2010
Hallelujah it worked!!!!!
July 29th, 2010
BTW I’ve changed my name, still Torn_Steel
July 29th, 2010
@Torn_Steel
LMAO the first time you come across one of those blue-eye or red-eye knight is pretty much a instant death..
for me, the toughest bosses and optional NPDs were:
Boss:
*(1-3)Penetrator
*(1-4)Old King Allant
*(2-2)Flame Lurker
*(3-2)Maneater
*(4-2)Old Hero
NPDs:
*(1-1)King Doran
*(1-1)Executioner Miralda
*(2-2)Scirvir, the Wanderer
*(1-4)3 Black Phanthoms
July 29th, 2010
@Torn_Steel
“Like the new avatar Roca! How do you change them BTW”
I see you already figured out LOL – StarCraft 2
July 29th, 2010
Yeah, names changed as well, same as my steam account now, anyway, I’ve been lucky enough to only fight one black phantom, an NPC before the fool’s idol, the flamelurker isn’t easy, I’m ashamed to say I haven’t fought any of the others, I was suprised that most of the bossses are pushovers really, the Phalanx is understandable, being the first boss, but the Ajudicator is so easy, you only have to get into melee range and dodge his really slow attack.
July 29th, 2010
I was originally going to go for the Demon’s souls pic but you’ve got it, SW’s got Denton, so I thought I’d go for Starcraft as it’s an awesome game and I’ve currently playing it.
July 29th, 2010
Well, guys every woman is different but I like a man with a strong personality. I don’t like passive men. I like a man who has is strong, kind, and honest with decent values.
July 29th, 2010
Great news people!!! Super Mario Brothers 2 may no longer be the higheste rated game of all time, it’s currently tieing with Starcraft 2!!!
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/starcraft2
July 29th, 2010
yeah yeah, and tomorrow you’ll tell us you like weak passive men
July 29th, 2010
“Well, guys every woman is different but I like a man with a strong personality. I don’t like passive men. I like a man who has is strong, kind, and honest with decent values.”
Well, I guess I’m out of the running then.
July 29th, 2010
Flame Lurker and Maneater were hell! I f-ing hated them.
Also I started out as a Knight. It made somethings a little but more complicated, but the armor, sword, and shield came in handy.
July 29th, 2010
Firestorm owns all
July 29th, 2010
hahaha there’s really a boss called ‘Penetrator’?? I saw a movie called that once… well there wasn’t much of a story to it…
July 29th, 2010
Was is Forest Hump or You’ve got male….genitailia?
Hmmm sounds like Spawn. Yeah. Didn’t even need to change that one.
July 29th, 2010

July 29th, 2010
“Forest Hump”
been there, not as fun as it sounds
*crazy college girls*
July 29th, 2010
what about alice’s under pants?
July 30th, 2010
“is this the type of experience CarlB and CAD have been raving about? LMAO.”
Sorry roca, I’ve never even been close to “raving” about Kinect. I’m interested in the potential, and UI, but that’s about it for now. I have zero interest in Move. Kinect will likely outsell Move, and though Move may have a few better mediocre games and some patches for past software, I doubt either tech will surpass the traditional control for core games.
July 30th, 2010
carlb:
“’m interested in the potential, and UI, but that’s about it for now. ”
As for potential…i guess we can wait it out….as for te UI, it was already stated that the UI will not be the dashboard currently in use, but rather a simplistic “mii-too” wii like menu….ghey…
July 31st, 2010
jojo- agreed, best to judge after it comes out.
August 3rd, 2010
How can it be “mii-too” when it doesn’t use a wand or physical remote as does the Wii? That would actually be Move that is “mii-too wii like menu….ghey…”
August 4th, 2010
The UI is Mii-too….its pretty channels just like the Wii UI.
August 5th, 2010
without a wand
