Wipeout devs working on shooter and Bioware wants to sell 10 million
Sony Studio Liverpool may be working on a new title that doesn’t involve racing. The company has been known for the Wipeout series. Also, Bioware recently revealed that its success criteria for a game are that it must sell at least 10 million units.
The Wipeout series have been widely popular, usually earning high marks. It appears that the Sony owned Liverpool studio is working on a “3rd/1st person action” game. The title could very well be a first person shooter.
The information was revealed through a job posting by the studio looking for someone with expertise in developing such a game.
In other news, Bioware, the creative brains behind Mass Effect recently revealed desires to sell more games. The studio’s VP and co-founder Greg Zeschuk recently stated that Bioware needs to sell at least 10 million units. He told VideoGamer [via CVG], “We need to sell 10 million units. That’s actually the new target, right?”
We do Top 10 games, our stuff is quite successful. I know Mass [Effect 2] is number eight so far this year, in North America. Sometimes I’m facetious when I say some of those things, knowing that we can sell a few million but seeing that someone else can sell 25. You’re kinda like, ‘Well, that’s a hit!’
If Zeschuk wants to sell 10 million units I can think of a few ways to get close to that goal easily.

If they really want to sell 25 million units, they should juts make a casual game collection.
Roca’s right. Their games aren’t mass market. Even if they brought ME2 to the PS3 and doubled their sales, they would be way under 25 million.

I hope it’s not another 1st/3rd person shooter. It’s that genre saturated enough?
