Final Fantasy XIII to release in Japan on Xbox 360 – DLC scrapped
Final Fantasy XIII has been out on the Xbox 360 across all territories except in Japan. However, that is about to change as Square Enix recently announced Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360 in Japan at a Microsoft conference event.
As expected this news is generating some negative reaction from PS3 fanboys as the game was announced as an exclusive in Japan. As Mass Effect 2 recently proved, never say never when it comes to exclusives.
According to 1UP, Square Enix also admitted that the planned DLC for the game will be scrapped. Motomu Toriyama, director of FFXIII previously stated that PS3 owners should “hold on to their saves from the end of the game" for a surprise [DLC] down the line.
This news did not sit well with existing PS3 owners, who blame the Xbox 360 port as the cause. Some rabid fans have even made death threats to Yoichi Wada, CEO of Square Enix, on his Twitter account.
I’m not sure why people care so much as the game will be releasing a full year later in Japan on the Xbox 360.

It’s the principal. Regardless if the 360 port is released one year after they still betrayed their loyal PS3 fans. And personally I’m sick of this crap of seeing console brand games jumping over-board!
Crash Bandicoot
Final Fantasy
Armored Core
Grand Theft Auto
It’s because of these fuckbags that I won’t purchase the next video game console that arrives. I PURCHASED A PS3 TO PLAY PS3 GAMES!!! I PURCHASE AN XBOX 360 TO PLAY XBOX 360 GAMES!!!
This generation of video gaming has been the most disappointing so far. I miss the days of the Dreamcast, N64, Playstaion, etc.

Big deal. I could see why they are pissed about not getting the promised DLC, but that hasn’t got anything to do with it coming to the 360, seeing as it has already been available outside of Japan. Plus who cares if it is no longer an exclusive, particularly when the 360 version is inferior to the PS3 one.
September 9th, 2010
haha death threats? them guys must have no life what so ever LOL
September 9th, 2010
“Square Enix also admitted that the planned DLC for the game will be scrapped.”
I remember there was an article here on the blorge before FF13 was released and they were saying that there was not going to be any DLC at all.
Seems like Square is full of bullshit anymore

They still sell the 360 in Japan?
September 9th, 2010
“They still sell the 360 in Japan?” not only that but rumour has it they sell as many as 5 in one week!
September 9th, 2010
I never understood why gamers go crazy when a certain franchise goes to another system. Afterall, they still get to play the game. It just means that more gamers will get to play the game. I think it’s great that the Xbox360 gamers in Japan will get to play Final Fantasy.
September 9th, 2010
Well the 360 port and the Japanese voice acting is already done, so all they had to do is print the discs.
It’s not going to sell that many copies, but I really don’t think it matters at this stage.
September 9th, 2010
Speaking of ES, anyone actually going to check out Kingdom Hearts?
September 9th, 2010
“not only that but rumour has it they sell as many as 5 in one week!”
*Faints*
@Twilight
Exclusives are always nice as they differentiate a console from its competitors. Being mad that it doesn’t stay exclusive is rather silly though, as like you said, you still get the play the game either way.
Now I wish it was that cut and dry but to a lot of people it’s just not. FF13 for instance was negatively blamed for being cut short, or parts missing because many felt that they had to concentrate on both consoles.
When a games also not an exclusive the developer is also forced to develop for the least common denominator to make it work financially. As a result, the consoles are not taken advantage of as if they would if the game was only on one of them.
Personally…I really don’t care all that much for other than fanboy banter and BS bulletpoints to annoy….mostly.
I was not happy when MS grabbed up exclusive content from games that were “Made” on the Playstation brand.
Tomb Raider for one…and to a lesser degree, the Episodes of Liberty city. It’s just a douchebag move IMO. Get exclusive content to games your own brand made popular…not the competitions. Fuckin’ Dicks.

totally agree with phranc

“I’m not sure why people care so much as the game will be releasing a full year later in Japan on the Xbox 360″
You’re not kidding.
The same thing has happened here, and recently.
Did you miss the reaction of the Pbots here to Mass Effect 2 coming to PS3
(a full year after is came out on Xbox)?
Talk about a theatrical exaggerated response.
Typical fanboys.

HH the dumbshit
Just stop posting already…you’ve already proven to everyone here how stupid blind you have become from having your face pounded by MS…
On topic:
Who gives a shit, its a multiplat game, get over it, FF13 was the worst FF due to the 360, we all know that now, get over it and move on.
@twilight
The reason most people get upset over lost exclusives is due to what phranc posted: developing for the lowest common denominator….the 360 or not having enough finances to develop for the ps3 properly,I.e most ps3 “ports”…
Remember, FF lost its town hubs, world map, and exploration because the 360 couldn’t handle it..as stated by square saying content had to be cut in order to fit it one 3 discs….perfect example of why multiplat developments cause problems…
September 9th, 2010
Castlevania:
It is estimated to be about twenty-four hours of gameplay. Even though the developers are claiming that the cut scenes are not all that long, it appears that Castlevania will be shipping on two discs for the Xbox360 and one disc for Ps3. It will be interesting to see if the graphics will be equal across both systems.

Then you shouldn’t be happy about any system, especially the PLaystation brand.
Final Fantasy came out on Nintendo and 1-6 were released all on a Nintendo console.
Then all of a suddwen Sony stole the FF franchise away from Nintendo. OMG, WTF?What a douchebag move right?
But I bet it doesn’t raise the bile in the back of your throat cause its Sony that did the pilfering.

“Remember, FF lost its town hubs, world map, and exploration because the 360 couldn’t handle it..as stated by square saying content had to be cut in order to fit it one 3 discs….perfect example of why multiplat developments cause problems…”
Typical fanboy shit. I suppose someone has to be the next Ivan right? Your s hoe in for that spot.
How fast people forget weve been getting Multi-disc RPs for years now, and there has never been any problem putting an over world and all on multi-discs before.
Square never said that the game came out that way because of space limitations, BUT they did say the game came out that way because they wanted to design it that way intentionally.
September 9th, 2010
Playstation made FF popular around the world, same goes for Tomb Raider, Souls Calibur and many others.
September 9th, 2010
FF7 and Playstation “Made” the Final Fantasy brand. Most people were hardly aware of it until FF7. Besides that, Square decided to go with CD rather than cartridge. Nintendo’s fault if you ask me.
I’m also aware GTA were PC games. GT3 on the Playstation brand “Made” the GTA series. At no point were those games as popular as they were prior than when they were PS brand games.
Tomb Raider came out a couple of months earlier on the Saturn…nobody cared or knew.
Tomb Raider was “Made” by the Playstation brand. Lara Croft is practically a PS brand mascot.
Dead Rising 2 and Lost Planet 2 both had exclusive content for their 360 versions. I have little problem with this, as both franchises were Xbox brand franchises that helped the 360 early in it’s life cycle.
We really don’t have good examples of the same happening from 360 to PS3, probably due to the Xbox brand being younger.
If say…Splinter Cell got exclusive content that was the result of Sony money hatting Ubisoft, that would be comparable. Of course…that didn’t happen.
Or Maybe Next gen, If the Gears Franchise gets PS brand exclusive content, that would be the same.
I’m sorry, I didn’t quite fall into that hypocritical category that you were painting me into.
September 9th, 2010
Jojo,Phranctoast,FahkinSuPah,
The problem is that there is too much money to be made. Most game developers would rather put their games out on both systems instead of keeping the games exclusive to one system.
September 9th, 2010
@twilight
Agreed. Thank god first party studios exist so that someone is at least taking full benefit of the consoles strong capabilities.
September 9th, 2010
@phranc, exactly
@twilight
Its all good for developers to spread their games, its just sucks when a games content is cut because one system, ahem360ahem can’t fit/handle it..
@fahkin
“Typical fanboy shit. I suppose someone has to be the next Ivan right? Your s hoe in for that spot”
Nah, HH the dumbshit beat all of you to that
“How fast people forget weve been getting Multi-disc RPs for years now, and there has never been any problem putting an over world and all on multi-discs before.”
No ones bitching about multi plat rps, or multi disc Rps….its more of a bullet point for BR that they don’t need multiple discs….and yes it does suck ass to have switch discs….no matter how hard you try to spin it though
“Square never said that the game came out that way because of space limitations, BUT they did say the game came out that way because they wanted…”
Nope, they stated that content was cut “due to limitations of DVD9″….as to what content was cut, until they clarify all have assumed it was world maps/town hubs/exploration….if the game was 3 discs long on 360 w/out all that, how many more discs would it have to be????
That was from square themselves….I believe that article was here on blorge, so stfu, its not typical fan boy shit, its from squares own mouth!!
It seems the only fanboy here is you fahkin, as I was stating who gives a shit if ff was multiplatform?!….then I was just stating what’s true….FF was a lesser product due to content having to be cut BECAUSE OF THE 360….that’s from squares own dirty lil mouths….explain the fanboy shit??….
September 9th, 2010
@fahkin
Get your game history straight son..
Sony didn’t “steal” final fantasy…nintendo lost it when they decided to go cartridge…..it was a difference of HARDWARE MEDIUM rather than some exclu$$I’ve deal like ms did with square….it was back when square wanted to showoff their art/development talent, rather than their wallets…lol
See that my problem with everyone, but nintendo, and post launch years sony: they keep the politic$$ in the background….MS has brought the politic$$ to the forefront…….making even square’s greed that much more prevalent….ea/activision are the same way: all about the money….which I know everyone is all about the money…just keep that shit behind the scenes ….
September 9th, 2010
The whole ‘X MADE Y’ is silly.
I could easily say that GTA3 would’ve never existed if it were not for the ‘PC’ ‘making’ GTA.
And really, Playstation never ‘made’ anything. The X million consumers that purchased a games console and then flocked towards a game because it was a decent game is why a franchise was created.

Pfffhhhhh.
Anyways, on to something much more useful & interesting.
Take 1 Xbox S Arcade and use the following info to save cash & upgrade it.
The DIY 250gb hard drive details are now out.
- You need a Western Digital Scorpio BEVS 250GB or BEVT 250GB.
- Get a program called “hddhackr”
When finished, you will have a brand new 250GB Xbox hard drive for the cost of about £30 ($46 US/$50 Aus).
Microsoft have never banned anyone for upgrading their Xbox with a DIY hard drive (and people have been doing this for years).

sdo you get commission?

I 100% agree with jojo
In light of the FFVII scenario, Final Fantasy XIII was supposed to have stayed exclusive to the PS3 in keeping with its traditon of highest-quality as the main FF series jumps from one medium to a bigger medium:
CARTRIDGE to CD-ROM
CD-ROM to DVD
DVD to BLU-RAY
The series was supposed to get even bigger and better not going back the other way around.
The big budget & supposed to be Final Fantasy XIII killer Lost Oddysey,along with lots of JRPG efforts failed to deliver the results on the gaijin console.
And Final Fantasy on the PS3 can’t be killed.
You see Wada promised the Japanese gamers that FF XIII will stay a PS3 exclusive and they bought that.
Wada got away with releasing the ported game outside of Japan. And now his is breaking that promise again by releasing it on the 360 in Japan!
So in an ironic move, the jealous-greedy Steve “Master Thief” Ballmer of the Neo Microsoft, who does not like loosing, took advantage of the struggling economic situation in Japanese developers specially Squeenix.
This death threat stuff is a Japanese thing that we know nothing about so let’s stay out of it. It’s their bushido kind of thing – a code of honor that Steve Master Thief Ballmer messed up over there.
Steve ‘Master Thief’ Ballmer does not care even if it means degrading & gimping the reputation of the franchise, even if it means Yoichi Wada breaking his word of honor to his loyal customers.
Neo Microsoft has done more damage than good to the games industry as a result.
Steve Master Thief Ballmer is a bully that will try to mess up the kids that are playing & having fun.
Every move he makes is driven by intense greed and jealousy.
He goes on a stealing rampage on every flourishing market he sets his eyes on:
game consoles
portable devices
on-line gaming
motion control gaming
home computer
smart phones
tablet pc
mobile OS
but fails & will fail miserably
I am glad I still have the best choices around:
PS3
PlayStation Portable
PlayStation Network
PlaySation Move
MacBook Pro
Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galxy Tab
Google Android 2.2

@Liquid
You have alot of nerve. You barely ever have anything worth saying. The only time you ever speak is only when you “think” you have come up with such a creative line to put someone down.
@jojo/Ivan Jr.
“and yes it does suck ass to have switch discs”
No one bitched about it when FFVII was 3 discs longs, or when 8 was 4 discs long.
The only people who are going to bitch about having to swap a disc is lazy fucks who need the excersize anyway.
So you lazy 5-ton bitch ass,put down that fucking ice cream cone, get the fuck up and go take a fucking walk. And get some sun while your at it you pasty faced freak.
When you want to play a different game you usually have to get up and change discs anyway right?
September 10th, 2010
the 360 has absolutly nothing to do with the shortcomings of FF13, no matter how much PS3 bots want to wish it so. The game’s Producer, Yoshinori Kitase, and Director, Motomu Toriyama have stated in an interview: “People are aware that there is a lot of content that has been cut from the game. Do you have any plans to use this content in the future?
You say “content” but, in reality, it’s more like “ideas”. Maybe a map was a little bit too complex and we felt like the player would get completely lost, so we simplified, or whatever. So this content won’t be coming out separately, as it has been binned.” (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/02/08/square-enix-talks-final-fantasy-xiii-submit-your-questions/)
September 10th, 2010
@Rimmer
PSFagboys are just not willing to admit that FFXIII sucks and it is just because of the way the game designers wanted it to be.
Maybe they need to stop sucking Sony’s cock long enough and come up for some air. That lack of oxygen is getting to their brains.
September 10th, 2010
Anyone can argue either way and let your inner fanboy determine how you want to think.
I’ll throw this out there. Its the first time a FF game has come out simultaneously on the Xbox platform, and it’s also the worst reviewed one of the series. take that for what it’s worth.
September 10th, 2010
@phranc
” Its the first time a FF game has come out simultaneously on the Xbox platform”
Its the first time that its come out simultaneously on ANY system. Just because it came out on Xbox doesn’t mean thats why it sucks.
September 10th, 2010
But it was the first time coming on 360
FF13 could’ve been so much better if it stayed as a Playstation exclusive and took advantage of the Bluray storage and the PS3 processing power.
September 10th, 2010
“Just because it came out on Xbox doesn’t mean thats why it sucks.”
No it doesn’t mean that, but in all honesty….do we really know why?
Splitting teams to work on both consoles, and catering to the 360′s limitations could be an arguable factor.
Truth be told, everyone simply just has theories on both sides of this debate. No one truly knows. All we know is it’s the worst reviewed FF game out of the bunch, but best/fastest selling…..
IMO, The game probably isn’t all that bad (what I’ve heard by most who played it), I just think reviewers have had enough of JRPG’s. The poor reviews in a way were reviewers way of letting SE know this. I’ve noticed Westeren RPG’s being the more popular of the two lately. (Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout)
September 10th, 2010
@SW
You appear to dislike my choice of words when I say Playstation brand ‘made’ those franchises. That’s OK.
Those franchises were never as popular at other places, than as they were when they were PS brand games. Metal Gear is another one who fits into that category. Check sales, check reviews…you know it, I know it.
My point being anyway has little to do with that other than many people believing that they are legitimate Playstation franchises, as that’s where they gained their most popularity.
I don’t like Microsoft Moneyhatting developers of those games.
I’m surprised Devil May Cry 4 didn’t have “exclusive Xbox content”

Playstation helped many franchises become sucessful and also brought the most amount of new franchises.
Even if some games did not come out on Playstation first you can’t deny that made them what they are today – franchises such as Tekken, Soul Calibur, Need for Speed, GTA, Shin Megami Tensei, Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, and many others.
360 has helped mostly shooter and wester-RPG games become as popular as they are today.
September 10th, 2010
@Roca
“360 has helped mostly shooter and wester-RPG games become as popular as they are today.”
This gen has some awsome ROG’s. I would say that most of my top 10 has come out this gen.
Mass Effect 1 and 2, Fallout 3, Lost Oddyssey…
Thats not even including games I have yet to play or have not been released yet, like Dragon Age, and Fallout New Vegas.
I should be getting Dragon Age tonight. A friend of mine is giving it to me for free, but I wont be playing it till im done with ME 1 & 2. I’m still working on achievements. Beat ME for the second time since I started playing it again (3rd total), and just started ME2 yesterday. Playing it on Insanity and boy is it tough lol.
BTW I noticed something interesting.
ME1 Barely any cursing.
ME2 loads of it lol

em werent you the one insulting ivan non stop for about 4months straight???? pot calling kettle black??? will i get my violin?? you have nothin worth saying either, except for a load of crap you think is “quirky” and “witty”. . .when in fact your just a 360fagboy who complains about ps3 fanboys when your to blind to even realise you are a massive fagboy at heart. . . .LMAO
September 10th, 2010

Yeah, I did alot of insulting Ivan. But that wasn’t the only thing I did. Unlike what You have been doing I actually had alot of things to say about the topics at hand, as well as other things to add.
September 10th, 2010
i add to. . .but if i want a proper debate il goto the playstation forums. . .this place has no moderation so i take advantage of that.
