Microsoft’s Greenberg criticizes PS3 Move launch lineup

September 19, 2010

Microsoft’s Greenberg criticizes PS3 Move launch lineup It looks like it’s time for more corporate mudslinging as it’s Microsoft’s turn to take a dig at Sony. Microsoft man Aaron Greenberg recently criticized the launch lineup for the Playstation Move.

At the Tokyo Game Show Greenberg indicated that most of the launch titles for the Move seem to have the motion controller tacked on to “controller-based” games.

Speaking to CVG, Greenberg exclaimed, "I think that most of the experiences designed for Kinect were designed from the ground up.”

He then stated:

The difference is, it seems, a lot of the games made for Move are really controller-based games that [developers have] added the Move functionality to.

Our approach has been different, because we feel that a controller is the best way to play games like Halo or Call of Duty. So we’d rather not have you have to choose between using a controller or motion controller; we’d rather design experiences that are uniquely made for Kinect.

It is an interesting observation, but it appears that Sony did indicate that the company wanted to provide the ability for developers to add-on Move support with ease as well as develop Move titles from the ground up.

After experiencing some hands on time with SOCOM 4 with the Move, I have to say its as close to a 3D mouse gamers will get for a shooter. I’m sure many will agree with me that head shots have never felt sweeter on a console.

There are other games such as Sorcery, Tumble, and Heroes On The Move, which are all built from the ground up with the Move in mind as well.

LOL at the picture…he looks like one of those fat bastards with no personality you see in movies that has heaps of beautiful women around him only because he has money.

Once again he demonstrates how little he knows by using the words “The difference is, it seems”

  2. oldschool1987:

Haha this guy is like HH, full denial and making thibgs up in his own head :P

  3. gunstar:

Well, at least we can play those games however or whichever way we want with lots of options to choose from unlike unable to use and rendering your $55.00 controllers useless.

Now the value of our PS3 has increased because we get to play Sports Champions with The Non-Gamer Wife a full year after us having the PS3 Slim in the living room.

in a matter of seconds she knew how to use the 2 Move controllers & now she can’t put Archery Game down :)

    What have I done?! XD

Six things you don’t know about the PS Move:

The PlayStation Move doesn’t launch until Sept. 19, but we thought we’d share some little-known facts about Sony’s wireless motion-sensing system for the PlayStation 3.

We prodded Sony Computer Entertainment America to give us the deets on the new hardware. How many of these did you know?

    – The first Move prototype was made out of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipe and a ping-pong ball for the sphere.

    – There’s a temperature sensor inside the Move that is used to adjust internal signals based on the temperature of the environment. Adjusting the rest of the sensors this way makes them much more precise.

    – The Move detects your motions at more than 100 times per second.

    – The sphere is made of silicon rubber, similar to that of baby pacifiers. This makes it both safe and durable.

    – The handle’s hourglass shape is designed to naturally fit hands of all sizes. Smaller hands slide up to grip the thinner part, while larger hands slide back; in both cases, fingers remain comfortably on the buttons. The shape also gives the controller better grip so it doesn’t fly out of your hand.

    – The light illuminating the sphere is capable of producing millions of different colors.

ill probably get the move at christmas, would be a laugh when your pissed. ha

  6. phranctoast:

Greenberg’s critique for the Move is the exact reason I like it, and would prefer it over Kinect. Spin a positive into something negative… Nice try.

If you want to get technical. All motion games can be done with a controller anyway.

“I think that most of the experiences designed for Kinect were designed from the ground up”
Because the kinetic sucks ass and can’t be adapted into real games.
Pew, lag lag lag, Pew, lag lag lag , Game over! You died!

This may change my mind about Move. I have to get it for the kids anyway so I may get Socom 4.

It’s just pot calling the kettle black…nothing to see here…

    “What have I done?! XD”
LOL that is why I purchased my very own PS3.
And a projector to play it on. The kids and wife play in the living room with the bravia.

Thats is so it can adapt to the background colours.

  14. Roca.:

Seems like Sony did not choose the “cheap” way when building their motion control like Microsoft did (downgrading its specs). Sony packed many of the great components that are found in today’s modern smartphones: a “processor”, accelerometer, gyroscope, Bluetooth transmitter, vibrating motor, and even a MEMS compass.

I’m impressed that Move has its own processor after Microsoft admiting downgrading its motion camara by removing the processor out of Kinect.

btw i havnt seen CAD whinge over this like he did when kevin butler made fun of kinect. . .remember he said it was pathetic and childish? what a hypocrite you are CAD.

  17. CAD:

    Liquid

Microsoft does it in interviews. Sony does it in advertisements and public like E3. I know that Sony is in last place but when a company has to resort to making fun of the compitition like that it’s pretty sad that their product can’t speak for itself. They created Kevin Butler the CEO of Propaganda and Bullshit LOL

  18. CAD:

Come to think of it Sony reminds me of the Republican party. A bunch of sore loosers. Is it safe to say that PS3 Fanboys are Teabagers. LOL

  19. ncaissie:

Yes, sony teabags all over microsofts face lol

Let’s not get into mudslinging, you seem to forget, at one of Sony’s ps3 partys, Microsoft had a boat pull up port and slander the ps3 while boasting the 360…talk about ‘pathetic and sad’..

Also, off topic, to bring up one of HH the dumbshits qualms about “ps3 threads being empty and 360 threads being commented on”…that’s easy…

Us ps3bot, have a sense of humor…we got peeps like liquid, ncaissie making fun of the Move dildo, yet still are interested in it, can still poke fun at it….no reason to debate..

You HH the dumbshit and CAD bitch, cry and moan at ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING anti-360…for example:

Kinect makes you have fun…while flailing around like an idiot…and that’s when it works!!

  24. ncaissie:

Speaking of Lineup. I just preordered LBP 2 limited Ed. and DCUO Hero edition. On the PS3 hey have Hero and Villain edition.

On the subject of MS people putting their foot in their mouth.

“First-person shooters. Your PC days are numbered. Microsoft’s Kudo Tsunoda reckons it.The Kinect chief told Game Informer that “hardly anyone” plays FPS on PC now, with Halo redefining how shooters are seen on consoles.“Halo did an awesome job of building a first-person shooter exclusively for the console, and now hardly anyone plays first-person shooters on the PC anymore,” he claimed.Hey id, Valve? Might want to stop developing RAGE or Portal 2 for PC now.He explained: “If you think about the way that first-person shooters evolved, they started on the PC.“People for the longest time tried to port shooters from the PC onto the console.“And people said the same things that they are saying now about Kinect – ‘It’s never going to be responsive enough to do this,’ or ‘You’re never going to get a fun first person shooter on the console’ – it’s only made for a keyboard and mouse and that is the way it is supposed to be played.’“And as long as everyone was just porting the existing shooters over to console, they weren’t as fun as the PC ones. Of course, they were built for the PC.”

    @Phranc

That is exactly what Move is going to do for FPS. That is what I wanted with the Wii and motion plus but it didn’t happen. I’m hoping Move can pull it off. We will see with Socom 4.

  28. ncaissie:

Or fat bastard in that movie?
    Get in my belly!

  29. ncaissie:

Speaking of fat bastards. Didn’t Dave Jaffe promise a game bigger than GOW 3? Where the fuck is it? He better not have meant that stupid car game. I’m going to have to pay the boy a visit.

  30. Roca.:

“That is exactly what Move is going to do for FPS.”

The Move is a surprisingly accurate and precise device that will make every single move (or wrist twist) you make matter. Sports Champions is a great example of things to come but I feel Wii-ports might not take advatange of it.

As I played table Tennis on Sports Champions it made me correct my swings a couple of time and depending how, where, and how hard I hit the ball you get a different result…Then I downloaded Racquet Sports (a Wii port) and no matter how you swing the Move controller the on-screen character will do any ramdon swing. After a few mins I was just waggling the controller and I was still getting the same results.

  31. phranctoast:

I don’t think Jaffe aver mentioned a game as big as GOW3. I think it was quite the opposite.

  32. ncaissie:

“I don’t think Jaffe aver mentioned a game as big as GOW3. I think it was quite the opposite.”
He said he was working on something Bigger!

  33. Roca.:

    Twisted Metal..
For anyone who is a fan of the series Twisted Metal can be as big, if not bigger, than God of War 3

  34. ncaissie:

It may have been in the GOW 3 video interviews or something. Or the PSN game tester show. I know he said he was working on something bigger. I think he said “If you thing GOW 3 is big wait until you see what’s next.” Something like that.

  35. ncaissie:

That pisses me off. It’s not bigger for sure.

  36. phranctoast:

I thought he was just mentioning graphics.

  39. ncaissie:

yeah, I wish they could release one AAA game every month. Like GOW 3 and Uncharted 2. I’m not a fan of Activision but Black ops will be a must buy for me. Just not Day one. And probably used. LOL

  48. Rhino:

@CAD “but when a company has to resort to making fun of the compitition like that it’s pretty sad that their product can’t speak for itself”

Ohhh so just so that I have this straight…it’s not cool for Sony to bag a competitor via funny and clever advertising (they never mention MS in any of their ads), but it’s ok for Greenberg to publicly hang shit on a competitor via an interview?

Man that is so fucked up I just don’t know where to begin. You truly, truly are a complete and unadulterated fanboy douche bag with delusional feelings of superiority that if Greenberg shat in a cup and force fed it to you, you’d smile and “please sir, may I have some more!”

“Is it safe to say that PS3 Fanboys are Teabagers” Check your grammer asshole that is a question, not a statement…but yes PS3 fanboys are tea baggers cause we take our glowing Move dildo, headshot your laggy shovelware Kinect ass, then stand over while your crying for more bouncing balls and say “LIKE THAT BITCH!!!!”

here’s a joke for ya guys:

One fall day Dave was out raking leaves when he noticed a hearse slowly
drive by. Following the first hearse was a second hearse, which was
followed by a man walking solemnly along, followed by a dog, and then
about 200 men walking in single file. Intrigued, Dave went up to the man
following the second hearse and asked him who was in the first hearse. “My
wife,” the man replied. “I’m sorry,” said Dave. “What happened to her?”
“My dog bit her and she died.” Dave then asked who was in the second
hearse. The man replied, “My mother-in-law. My dog bit her and she died as
well.” “Can I borrow your dog?” “Get in line.” replied the man.
