Medal of Honor sells 1.5 million – celebrates with free DLC
Defying criticism from many media outlets, EA has proven that its Medal of Honor franchise reboot has the goods. According to a recent report the game has moved 1.5 million units in Europe alone already.
According to Gfk-ChartTrack data [via CVG], EA has managed to sell 1.5 million units in a mere five days. Critics of the game have called Medal of Honor a Call of Duty clone which deviates very little from the tried and true formula.
To celebrate this milestone achievement, EA has announced a free DLC pack that will include a new ‘Clean Sweep’ mode and two new maps Nov. 2.
Here is EA’s description of the DLC:
The free multiplayer mode titled Clean Sweep is an elimination mode where players must rely on their own skill and teammates’ expertise to prevail as the winning team.
This exhilarating mode is playable across two all-new maps (Bagram Hangar and Khyber Caves) as well as redesigned versions of the popular Diwagal Camp and Kabul City Ruins maps.
Not too shabby for free and the timing is perfect as many gamers should be starting to dive into the multiplayer mode now.

I barely scratched the surface of this game. What I played so far, I liked.
The critics problems seems to me like the problems with all the games of this genre. Shooting enemies is essentially a more advanced version of whack a mole. Why dies MOH get called on that buy COD gets a free pass? EA probably spent less on advertising than Activision did on major sites.

“To celebrate this milestone achievement, EA has announced a free DLC pack that will include a new ‘Clean Sweep’ mode and two new maps November 2.”
Fucking funny how they include this one free yet they charge extra to play online.
Assholes.
@ anyone here who has the game. Does it only let one user on your PS3 play online or is it locked to the PS3?
I seen on PSN they sell online play codes for $10. Does each person need a code or each Playstation?
October 20th, 2010
@ncaissie
The only pass on Medal of Honor is not for online play, is more like a VIP access (similar to Bad Company 2) which will get you free DLCs (maps, modes & weapons)
you can still play online without it tho..
October 20th, 2010
So it is not for used games to play online?
October 20th, 2010
If you pay $10 for it how can it be “free DLCs (maps, modes & weapons)”
October 20th, 2010
cuz only one online pass comes per game. If the game is bought used the online pass would need to be purchased.
October 20th, 2010
^ Exactly
October 20th, 2010
Then I was right.
So which is it? Do you have to buy a code per user od per PS3?
October 20th, 2010
As of now you don’t need online pass for MOH to play online. Other games in the near future may incorporate online pass to play the games in MP.

LOL I’m asking because I really wanted this game but If I have to pay an extra $10 for every person in my house and If I have a friend over do they have to use my Online ID to play? That wouldn’t be good for anyone wanting to earn their own trophies.
Or is it Per PS3. So If I enter the code on My PS3 then go to the one in the living room will i need to buy a new code to play online with that PS3?
October 20th, 2010
You don’t need to play online at all……yet.
as of now OP gets you free maps. Yes if you bought the game used and the original purchaser used his code a new one would be needed for those ‘free’ maps. If you buy new, don’t worry about this.

Ok
October 20th, 2010
Online Pass is for free DLCs – anyone at your house can play online hassle free
I think the online pass is attach to a single account tho – not sure, I’ll let you know once I get more info about it

If Sony lets companies like EA charge extra for Online play then they are going against their biggest selling point. They boasted Free online for the PS3. The Xbox people will be paying twice to play online. Once for Live and once to the publishers.
When that happens I will likely stop buying games at full price and wait for the price to drop to below 1/2 the original cost.

Call of Duty is about as generic as a shooter can be. Most gaming critics have their heads up their asses to think otherwise.

NC,
Another one of Sony’s beliefs to let publishers have freedom. It’s an EA thing, not Sony.
If you buy the game when the price drops down to $20 you can still play online, as long as the copy is new. I don’t agree with it either, but it’s not like there’s not thousands of online shooters to pick from. We always have options.
Just think, if you bought it used for the 360, you would have to pay 2 fees to pay online. lol suckers.

“Just think, if you bought it used for the 360, you would have to pay 2 fees to pay online. lol suckers.”
good point, and if you have multiple accounts on you 360 you to pay $50 for each account plus the $10 online passes for each account as well.
October 20th, 2010
Yeah I know. It’s crazy. Just think also, EA, Acivision, and Ubisoft have all expressed interest in charging for online.
Also as Phrac posted, it looks like Bad Company 2 is going to be sold cheap on amazon today. From what I’ve heard, most people preferred that over MoH.
October 20th, 2010
I might get bad company 2 if it’s less than $30 so I can play with my bro.
October 20th, 2010
“but it’s not like there’s not thousands of online shooters to pick from. We always have options. ”
You only have so many online friends so your options are kinda limited. It’s not easy to get everyone to buy the same games. Most tend to go for the more popular titles.

If you want CAD to come out from under his bridge, just say the words “Kinect” or “Windows 7 Phone”.
Oh, I see him coming.
October 21st, 2010
Dis-Kinect wil Bomb at retail.
October 21st, 2010
Come on CAD out you come.
Windows 7 phone has no APPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 21st, 2010
Windows 7 phone details:
*No copy and paste
*No multitasking
*No Flash Support
*No Silverlight support
*No HTML5 support
*No integrated search feature
*No instant-on (apps will have to be reloaded if your phone screen-lock)
*one home screen
*customization and customization space are limited
“There’s also only one homescreen and customization space is limited by the tile layout, so you end up scrolling vertically to find the right hub or app there too — contrast that to Android, iOS, or BlackBerry, where you can arrange multiple home screens at will and quickly develop an organized workflow. We’d like to see options for three- or four-row tile rows at the very least — it would go a long way towards making the homescreen more efficient.”
