Castlevania: Lords of Shadow reaches the 1 million mark
The reboot to the Castlevania series with Lords of Shadow is a success in Konami’s eyes as the company has shipped over one million units thus far. This is a great achievement considering the fact that this is the first successful 3D Castlevania.
As reported by CVG, Konami revealed that the publisher moved approximately one million copies of the game across U.S. and Europe in a little over a month. The game will be releasing in Japan December 16 and is expected to sell quite well there as well.
Shinji Hirano, president of Konami stated:
Castlevania has truly reinvented itself with its move to next gen platforms and we’re extremely pleased at the positive response we’ve seen toward Castlevania: Lords of Shadow globally, mainly due to the dedicated fans who have supported the series for so long.
He then added:
The remarkable sales achieved in such a short time are a true testament of the work and dedication that went into this project, and we’re very grateful to have partnered with such fine talent in the rebirth of one of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc.’s most successful franchises.
While one million may not seem all that impressive, its still a solid start for a franchise that has been in eternal turmoil.
The game is astonishingly deep and just oozes with a wealth of Castlevania lore. MercurySteam and Konami has hit the nail on the head with Lords of Shadow and opens up the franchise with room for a sequel to the game.

I played the demo and thought it was really repetitive and had sub-GOW gameplay.

Castlevania is an excellent game. This is one of the games that is under rated. This game deserves at least a 9.

I have this game at home, I’ll get to it some time but not right now.. I just completed Bioshock 2 (it only took me 9 months) and Sly 1, now I started playing NFS: Hot Persuit and Sly 2. GT5 will out tomorrow and Dead Nation is out next week so I’ll spend most of my time between those 4 games between those 3 games untill next year

It’s different to GOW in that GOW has more primary weapons to choose from. CV, you have the whip. You have holy water, daggers, fairies and the Dark Crystal as secondary weapons which have limited uses and must be gathered from fallen enemies or crates.
There’s also light magic and dark magic (in a way like Dantes Inferno)
When either magic is enabled you can achieve other attacks that’s reinforced by the magic. Generally speaking the, the light magic is helpful for retrieving health and the dark magic for issuing out damage.
CV also has a SOTC feel to it with three of it’s bosses.
I think the controls would have been better if buttons were mapped in the same way as GOW. I did not like holding L2 to block and holding L2+left analog (LA) to roll. It should have been like GOW with RA is roll, and L1 is block.

I guess I just couldn’t get into the supernatural cowboy stuff. I didn’t like Air Bender because it was all special effects with a poorly written storyline and I didn’t care for the acting in the movie. I have my share of movies that are universally unacclaimed that I like.

Avatar has entered my list of all time favourite movies! That’s right, up there with Blade Runner, Jurassic Park, Back to the Future and Fight Club ( haha I’ve got these all on Blu Ray). I REALLY hate the jaded people who thought the movie had no substance. That was a great film. I mean, 2 Billion dollars, an 83% approval from Rotten Tomatoes, and the 84% approval from Metacritic doesn’t lie.

You quack me up. I thought Avatar was an okay movie. The blue people are a little over rated though. I think people just got sucked up in all the 3-D hype. The blu ray picture quality on Avatar is excellent though. Since you like comic book movies, what did you think about Superman Returns and Watchman? Everyone I know hates these movies. I really love Superman Returns. I wanted to see Bryan Singer do a sequel to this movie but it appears it’s not going to happpen.

Supes was good IMO, just a wee slow paced. Watchmen, however, was crap. If it weren’t touted as a comic/superhero/”action” film, I think it could have worked, perhaps as a noir detective film.

I happen to like Marvel movies more so than DC. That’s because if you’re going to make a superhero film, I’m going to need it to be not grounded in reality. Superheros aren’t real, so stop trying to make them so.

Oy where do I begin…. I tried watching the new Super Man movie twice, but fell asleep both times. The same thing happened when I tried to watch Ghost Rider.
As someone who owns many Xmen comics… all 3 movies sucked penis.
Watchmen was good. Not quite as good to the commic, but still it was incredibility accurate to the source material.
Spiderman 1 and 2… GREAT! 3… not so much.
