Microsoft’s new studio working on Halo 1 remake
If you have been wondering what in the world 343 Industries have been working on, you may be in for a surprise. According to reports, the newly formed Microsoft studio has been remaking the very first Halo game.
The first Halo game titled Combat Evolved, came out on the original Xbox in all its polygon glory. Nearly a decade later it seems that Microsoft will be remaking the classic game that started it all.
This was first posted by CVG, which was reported by Games Master magazine. According to the report, the new remake could run on the Halo: Reach engine and arrive late 2012.
Previously, Microsoft indicated desires to crank out a Halo game every year similarly to the Call of Duty franchise. 343 Industries have been aggressively hiring people with recent reports of picking up 20 ex-Pandemic employees.

I think they are re building Halo on Reach’s engine. Why else would they have 343 studios do it instead of some no name company if all they planned on doing was bumping up resolution and adding achievements?

Actually ODST is at 83 at metacritic with waaaaaay more reviews than GT5. By the time all the reviews are in, the trend says GT5 will be much, much lower than 83.

Ah Kev I love it when you trolls are wrong 24/7. I’ve got all the Halo games, I got Reach on day of release. I really enjoyed it, the final segment of the game was very clever but the Halo series is over rated and is 1 of only 2 decent gaming series the 3rd-60 has, the 2nd being Gears, which is better than Halo in my opinion.

the reality is the 360 has the highest software to console tie-in ratio at last count. this means people are buying more SEPARATE pieces of software for the 360 than any other console.
if your “opinion” of only having 2-3 good games was anywhere near valid, the sales would be much, much lower.

Reach got some passes in the reviews.
The didn’t blast it score wise for lack of MP maps or for the graphical issues and frame rate. Some games get a pass and some just don’t.

Watch Game trailer and IGN. both made mention of the graphical issues and the lack of MP maps. Some games simply have their flaws ignored. Look at Fallout New Vegas.

You were too quick to dismiss that link kev. It had Total 360 attach rates at 8.8 and PS3 at 8.1. Fiscal year 2009 which ended in April as per link showed more software sold on PS3 which makes the attach rate higher for that year. Personally, I haven’t been able to find the 360′s software unit sales in the fiscal reports, so I’m not entirely sure where that number came from. I’ll still give them the benefit of the doubt. If they wanted to lie, why would they show the 360′s attach rate slightly higher?
