Jonathan Ross praises Nintendo 3DS
Jonathan Ross is a geek, amongst other things. And he loves video games. So who better to get to try out the new 3DS? Well done, Nintendo.
Ross, a TV presenter and chat-show host, has been given a prototype 3DS to try out. And having done so, he gave his opinion on the new handheld console on Twitter. He said:
What I can say about 3DS is that the 3D is far better than I would have thought possible without glasses. Can be switched to regular 2D! The games that seem to benefit the most are the driving and shooting games – the perspective makes it all feel more accurate.
There are actually 3D television sets on the way that don’t require glasses, with Toshiba convinced they’re the future. So it’s no real surprise that Nintendo pulled the technology off in such a small format: the smaller it is the easier it is in this case.
I’m not exactly enamored by the whole concept of the 3DS at this point. I think 3D is a novelty, and I think the DS is good enough in its current incarnation. Put those two together and you have a big ‘Meh’ from me when it comes to the 3DS. But maybe, just maybe, Nintendo are onto something. Again. Just a few months left until us non-celebrities find out.

What shit are you smoking? First you say you rather 3D with no glasses and here it is in reality and now it’s a novelty. Dude your crazy. I’m in on a 3DS for sure. No I have not seen it but too many eye witnesses are out there and not one has said a bad thing. I’m sure it’s a great device and If Toshiba is bringing glassless 3D TV’s I’ll be taking a look at that too

I think 3D as a whole is a novelty. But if it turns out not to be I’d rather not have to wear stupid glasses all the time.

@CAD
Sony is already has glassles 3D on portable BD player and laptop…they are working to bring that tech into TV in the future.

3D televisions WITHOUT glasses is not IF, but WHEN. The whole reason why I haven’t shelled out a squillion dollars for one yet that requires stupid glasses.
Biding my time for the glassesless 3DTV. 3DTV wont be a gimmick (it is now with glasses I must admit) but in the not TOO distant future, it will be common place I suspect, just the same as HDTV is now the norm.

LOL
I love the idea of 3D, I’ve just not ever seen it work very well. Except on an NVIDA PC demo for alien Vs predators about 10 years ago or something.
Even then it was difficult to look at, and the harder you try to see detail the less detail you see.
It’s almost like it relies on you not looking too hard at what your seeing for it to work.
Maybe after a few beers it works better.
I personally look forward to d3 without glasses, so long as it actually works and is not a headache inducing nightmare that was the coloured filter glasses thing.

PS
Not for DS but for 3D TV and big screen gaming

3D today is nothing like the 3d then.
The red and blue shit sucks ass compared to today’s 3d.
