Bioware: PS3 Mass Effect 2 launch build ‘noticeably’ better than demo

January 16, 2011

Bioware: PS3 Mass Effect 2 launch build 'noticeably' better than demoBioware released a demo for the PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 not that long ago on the PlayStation Network. The demo was analyzed to death by various media outlets.

According to Chris Priestly of Bioware, the demo released over PSN is actually an older build that was pushed out the door earlier for certification and testing reasons. Priestly stated that the build is actually two months old and that the launch version will be “noticeably better.”

He stated:

The demo was, for certification and testing reasons, about a 2 month older build than the final “what you will play when you get it home” version. I think you’ll see that the game is noticeably better at launch.

The PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 is said to be running on the Mass Effect 3 engine and has been hailed as the definitive version by Bioware. According to Casey Hudson, executive producer for the Mass Effect series, the new engine brings more color depth, improved shaders, and sharper graphic textures to the PS3 version of the game.

The PS3 version definitely uses high-res textures in some places not found on the Xbox and PC versions. The improvements in the shadows and crispness of the textures are also noticeable.

However, there were a few odd things with the demo such as odd lighting source placement and unlocked v-sync. Hopefully these items have been addressed in the final build.

Priestly also revealed that the “Terminus Armor” and the “Blackstorm Projector weapon” will be available “FOR FREE to PSN users starting at launch until Feb. 23.”

  1. CaptBirdman:

    You beat me to it Mike.

    In celebration, I changed my Gravatar to my favourite Mass Effect 2 character– Jack

  2. surv1vor:

    I’d really hope so, I didn’t bother playing it because I have the PC version but looking at the Digital Foundry analysis it wasn’t exactly an improvement over the original

  3. FahKinSuPah:

    @Birdman

    Jack was pretty cool in ME2. I liked a lot of the characters though.

    Zaeed was friggin bad ass, especially his back story and loyalty mission.

    Garrus is awsome, and adding him to the team was one of the coolest missions in the game

    I’m a sucker for Tali. I think the whole migrant fleet thing is pretty sweet.

    Jacob… meh

    Miranda… nope

    Morden. Wow. What an interesting personality. Ruthless and will do what he has to (within morality) to get the job done.

    Grunt Interesting dialouge and his loyalty mission was entertaining. Also when going through the game in Insanity mode he was an important part of my team.

    Thane. I could totally see why is an assassin. Definately one of my fav characters. His shredder rounds rocked!

    Kasumi was pretty awsome too. I really enjoyed recruiting her.

    Here is the comic intro for PS3

    I think it’s terrible personally. 40+ hours summed up in a badly made comic strip. There’s no way that the decisions made would be the same had you played the game. Getting to know characters and interacting with them is a massive part of the game and it’s easy to see how many users would decide to kill Wrex just for the sake of killing him and will have forgotten about this a minute later. In the original game these were massive decisions due to the time spent with these characters.

    A perfect example would be deciding whether or not to destroy the dormant Geth you find during ME2 when you have no experience of how deadly they were to fight against in ME1….. (Even though I still decided to let them live myself), but the magnitude of these decisions just doesn’t come across without experiencing ME1 first hand.

    This is a brilliant game though. I’m pretty sure that PS3 users who buy ME2 will probably pick ME1 on PC

  5. oldschool1987:

    They could have opted to leave it all out CONvict and made the decisions for you and just have a Mass Effect 1 summary in the booklet.

    I have both ME on the 360, not sure whether to buy the PS3 one for all the add ons, I don’t use live so I never got around to playing them.

    If I do get it for the PS3 I’ll have to go evil this time, for some reason I always play games with good and bad options as a do gooder ther 1st time lol

  6. CaptBirdman:

    I hear you Fahkin.

    My top ME characters in order

    1. Jack
    2. my Fem-Shepard
    3. Liara
    4. Samara
    5. Grunt (I killed Wrex in ME, so I don’t know how he is in ME 2)
    6. Joker
    7. Thane
    8. That Asari bartender (best NPC EVER)
    9. Garrus
    10. Morinth

  7. FahKinSuPah:

    @birdman

    I know I left a few characters out of the list I mentioned earlier

    The Asari Bartender was fahkin awsome. I think I agree that that is possibly the best NPC ever! I’m trying to remember exactly what she says but its something like “You can have anything you want. No sex though. I just got done cleaning the bar.”

    Obviously she takes after her Krogan father lol

    I also really liked Legion too. I really liked the idea of Legion and also the Legion – Shepard interactions.

    Evil Shepard… Need I say more? lol

    Liara… Never really had much appeal to me. She was rather weak in the first one and seemed rather emo in the second one.

    Who else are we missing?

  8. FahKinSuPah:

    Oh and I do like Joker too. Seth Green is the perfect voice/atitude for Joker. And his interactions with Edi are funny

  9. Roca.:

    @CON
    I was not planning play Mass Effect 1 anyways, with all the great PS3 exclusive games coming this year I will barely have time to play Mass Effect 2. I’m glad they did that.

  10. dans303:

    “for some reason I always play games with good and bad options as a do gooder ther 1st time”

    Same here, I guess it’s because we’ve been conditioned through years of films/tv/games/books to be the good guy, in terms of morals anyway.

  11. SW:

    I don’t think there was really any magnitude in the decisions.

    Its not like you’re performing exploratory brain surgery, just play the game again, pick a diff. decision for your new 20 lines of dialogue.

    The only good thing about the decisions imo is that you can keep who you want in your party. Thats how I rolled ME1/2 anywhoos. If you weren’t a regularly used member of my squad you were dead if it came to it. Bye bye Mr. Wrex. He also looked like a toad.

    @dans – I dunno man. The bad guy is just
    too easy’ half the time. Where is the challenge when you can just take what you want with very little consequence? Even in games like Oblivion which tried to make you get caught if your were stealing, it was still too easy, they can’t exactly execute your charcter for murder either. Be a short game.

  12. CaptBirdman:

    @ Fahkin — I just love Asari, so Liara was my love interest. I have this thing about longevity (I’m terrified of dying), so I guess that even though these are fictional characters, I envy them. Doesn’t hurt that she’s bisexual :-P

    @Roca– Pike CON is one of those blokes that is sore about PS3 getting ME2 & 3. He’ll say anything to downplay the definitive version because it’s on PS3. I mean, he outright disrespected Dark Horse– unforgivable. Besides, as an owner of ME1 on 360, and knowing you gaming preferences, you aren’t missing anything. ME1′s gameplay was archaic in comparison to AAA titles of this generation. Hardcore RPG fans did complain about the streamlining of RPG elements in the 2nd game, but the average action fan WILL NOT miss them. Personally, I preferred ME2 overall, but ME1 is still a good game. Besides, you can easily Wiki, Google, or YouTube ME1 if you’re that fussed to experience it. Or you can buy it on PC or 360 for around 10 dollars. Not that big a deal.

    @Dans I almost always refuse to be evil when given a choice. I’ve gotten the achievement for saving every Little Sister, was Paragon in every playthrough of ME1 & 2, always used the superheroes in Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects (although I used Vemon, because he’s my favourite Marvel character), and I never use overpowered Pokémon (MewTwo, Blissey, etc.). Hell, I race clean in GT 5, and I often get kicked for complaining about dirty racers as a result. I think there is honour in being the good guy, in video games, and in life, so that’s how I choose to act.

  13. ncaissie:

    It better be. the demo had some major issues.

  14. ncaissie:

    “I think it’s terrible personally.”

    There is a shocker, coming from a POS troll.

  15. The Future of Sega:

    I just don’t dig this game. Just can’t dig it. :D

  16. dans303:

    The only game I’ve played through being evil (that I can remember) is Infamous and that was my second playthrough.

    But where’s the fun in being the bad guy?
    Woo hoo!! I just killed a civilian!! Woo hoo!!

    I much prefer battling against the odds to be the good guy.

    @bird

    I try to be as clean a racer as possible in GT5 as well.

  26. CaptBirdman:

    Verner is THE MOST overrated POS NPC ever.

  27. CaptBirdman:

    F-U dans!!! LOL :-P

    I beat you with the DeLorean. I’m proud 8)

  28. FahKinSuPah:

    I hated Conrad Verner. Bioware needs to put him in ME3 and give me the option to shut him up once and for all.

  29. Kushy:

    Well according to IGN this is the best version of Mass Effect 2, even if it is a year later!

    http://ps3.ign.com/articles/114/1144303p1.html

  30. phranctoast:

    Well. It’s nice it truly is the definitive version.

    IGN spent way too much time IMO fanning the fanboy flames in that review.

  31. Roca.:

    still got a lower score?

  32. CaptBirdman:

    I just realised Toshit commented on this article.

    How does it feel knowing you were 1000% wrong?

    ME2 on PS3 is definitive. End of.

  33. phranctoast:

    “still got a lower score?”

    Yeah. But who cares. IGN now operates on a 20 point scale, when they didn’t when ME2 came out on the 360. It got a 9.6 on the 360.

  34. Roca.:

    “I just realised Toshit commented on this article.
    How does it feel knowing you were 1000% wrong?”

    He feels right at home… he’s usually wrong, like 99.9% of the time.

  35. ncaissie:

    “still got a lower score?”
    Because it is on the PS3 and not the 360. If that doesn’t prove the bias then nothing does. LOL

  36. oldschool1987:

    IGN are very good at proving their fanboyism.

    The PS3 version is the definitive and yet it got a lower scrore, and the reason? ‘Late for PS3′ WTF SORT OF RETARDED REASON IS THAT!!?

    I suppose the game is crapper now because it was delayed? So does that mean Duke Nukam will get shit scores due to delays?

    Pull your thumb out IGN and stop being blatently obvious fanboys.

  37. phranctoast:

    It got a lower score because IGN is on a 20pt scale now and not a 100pt scale. Unless it received a 10.0 it was going to get a lower score by default.

    IGN showed they like to rile up the famboys, but in this case it’s the Xbots that should be riled up. Practically one whole page of a two page review was about PS3 vs Xbox. Kind of silly if you ask me.

  38. ncaissie:

    “I suppose the game is crapper now because it was delayed?”
    Oh, been there done that. ;) LMAO

  39. ToshithegreaT:

    “I hated Conrad Verner. Bioware needs to put him in ME3 and give me the option to shut him up once and for all”

    @FKSP

    Well he’s a fan favourite, no doubt it.. secondly i am sure you can be renegade to him and he dies in both me1 and me2 on his own

  40. ToshithegreaT:

    “I just realised Toshit commented on this article.

    How does it feel knowing you were 1000% wrong?

    ME2 on PS3 is definitive. End of”

    You are right i did comment on this article knowing that you would be thwoing out your biased opinions as usual

    here’s a little fact for you and any other ps3′tard

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-masseffect2-face-off

    Between the consoles, the gap narrows. Technologically it still feels like the Xbox 360 version has the edge, but occasionally lower frame-rates and mostly unnoticeable graphical compromises on PS3 are not going to have much impact on the fun you have playing this game.

    However, in putting together this feature, the opportunity to return to Mass Effect 2 simply serves to remind us that the experience of playing this series is so much more than just one game: it’s a saga, an epic series quite unlike any other where all three chapters are interlinked, and unfortunately, due to licensing agreements, the Xbox 360 is the only console that gives you the full story.

    I Owned your biased ass once again..

    Nuff said

  41. ToshithegreaT:

    Either Digital Foundry’s PlayStation 3 debugging station is in desperate need of a new hard drive or else Mass Effect 2 can take anything up to 52 minutes to install for a relatively paltry 4272MB of data, not including the additional downloaded DLC.

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-masseffect2-install-blog-entry

    Enjoy the “Definitive” version ;)

  42. ncaissie:

    “52 minutes to install for a relatively paltry 4272MB of data”

    Bull fuckin shit. DCUO Downloads and installs 13Gigs in under 15 minutes. Go spew your BS lies elsewhere dipshit.

  43. ToshithegreaT:

    hey psycho-caisee, its not me but the article go rant over eurogamer, though they do say if u can get a bigger hd, install times can be significantly decreased, somewhere close to 30 mins.. GO FIGURE

  44. oldschool1987:

    Ah, the typical troll coming out of his shell to try and downplay the fact that the PS3 has got the 360′s highest rated exclusive …and the better version as well lol. Go back in your shell, slug or I’ll pur salt on you lmao.

  45. CaptBirdman:

    Yeah, this wanker uses Eurogame to prove his point.

    You know- the best, non biased review site.

    I believe in Harvey Dent too….oh wait

  46. oldschool1987:

    These trolls use Eurogamer as a reference to prove their point but when it comes to console sales from Europe, it don’t count lol. Hypocrites and slugs.

  47. ncaissie:

    “hey psycho-caisee, its not me but the article go rant over eurogamer”
    Hey asshole you are here preaching it like it’s gospel.
    Idiot.

  48. ncaissie:

    My ps3 has a 250GB HDD.

  49. ToshithegreaT:

    “Yeah, this wanker uses Eurogame to prove his point”

    @Birdie

    lol bs birdie, i gave you the link for Digital foundary’s face off, but i can see why would you NOT consider it lol..

    @oldfool

    I don’t give a vorcha’s ass abt what you think i am, but i am surprised to see you calling others troll/fanboys ;)

  50. ToshithegreaT:

    My ps3 has a 250GB HDD

    @psycho-ncaisse

    Same here..

  51. ToshithegreaT:

    Hey asshole you are here preaching it like it’s gospel.
    Idiot.

    hey hypocrite psycho-caisee, hows that different from people posting ign’s review

  52. ncaissie:

    It’s not. IGN sucks ass too.

  53. Barnabe Jones:

    IGN reviewed a final retail build of the game. All of those other sites were judging their comparisons based off of the PSN demo.

    That’s just bad journalism… if you want to call professional trolls “journalists”.

  54. ToshithegreaT:

    @Barnabe

    Hey BJ, digital foundary did the face off between the retail 360/ps3 version check it out yourself

    they also did a comparision between the me2 ps3 retail version and me2 ps3 demo

    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-masseffect2-face-off

  55. ToshithegreaT:

    It’s not. IGN sucks ass too.

    @psycho-caisse

    then i guess you need to read the thread again, since they are claiming me2 ps3 is the definitive version since IGN-orant said so ;)

  56. ncaissie:

    I don’t care what they claim. They are only praising it because it was originally a 360 exclusive. They are bias idiots and I only go on my own opinion.
    BTW PSN Plus members get a 60 minute demo of the FULL game.
    I downloaded it but I will wait until my hand is better so I can enjoy it.

  57. Roca.:

    @ncaissie
    Toshit’s online is limited by his 1Mbps connection.

    It will take him hours to download anything, even a picture.

    After playing Mass Effect 2 on PS3 I can admit that the “actual” game looks and play way better than the demo. Eurogamers’s faceoff is usually full of fanboy flamebaits.

    Bioware already stated that the actual game will be way better than the demo.

    Also, the install is a lil over 4GB…what’s the 360 install again? and wasn’t it a 2-disc game on 360, or should I say a 3-disc-swap game since you will have to reinsert the first disc at later stages in the game?

    ME2 on PS3 is a 24GB game, which means uncompressed sound and visual…that speaks volume ;)

    You still got owned…

  58. Roca.:

    not to mention that most 360 owners paid $60 a 3-disc game (see why 3 discs above) while for the same price we get the game plus all the DLC for it and the a recap of ME1.

    From ME1
    -I chose to save the Queen Insect’s race.
    -Saved Ashley instead of the other dude.
    -Spared Rex’s life.
    -I saved the human fleet insted of the Council’s
    -I chose Anderson (I think that’s his name) instead of the other due.

    It took about 20-30 mins.

    Also Character models look great when in close up during in-game cut scene but in game graphics are nowhere near PS3-quality graphics (KZ2, U2, Heavy Rain, GOW3)

  59. ncaissie:

    Yeah and an extra 6 hours of content, the awesome comic for the first game and the game being on the 3rd engine does not warrant a better score? LOL go figure.
    And I love how they go on about how we missed the first game. I bet not everyone who played 2 on the 360 played one. And I love how we can flip through the comic easily to change the outcome and they will have to replay one every time they want to change the choices made. If you ask me the comic thing should be in and sequel that can use decisions made in the first game.
    They are just jelous trolls that would never admit they got screwed.

  60. phranctoast:

    I can’t fault IGN in this instance. 9.5 or 9.6. Like I already said. IGN is now on a 20 point scale when before they weren’t.
    Gamespot on the other hand gave it a 8.5 and the 360 version a 9.
    By proof of the review itself they did not review the game solely on it’s merits. They reviewed it and mentioned all the choices from the full first game carrying over. Sure a comic won’t fulfill all those decisions but, the comic, all the additional content, etc should at least make the games score not fall 5 points.

  61. ncaissie:

    “Sure a comic won’t fulfill all those decisions”
    It gets all the game changing ones. So if you want you can go back and change them easily.

  62. oldschool1987:

    Toshitheadtroll, you calling me a troll? LMFAO! Just because you say I’m a troll does not instantly make it fact, mongo lol.

    Got a PS3 yet or you still just sticking with the 1 console, like a good little fanslug?

  63. ToshithegreaT:

    @oldfool

    yes i m calling u a troll/fanboy since you are one..

    yes have a ps3 and 360 Both sllim’s Both 250 gb’s..

  64. ToshithegreaT:

    @Roca

    ME1 comic is announced for both pc and 360 as well, so try harder ;)

    And thats not eurogamer’s face off, but Digital Foundary, unless they are biased too lol

    And you usually say that its the xbots that can’t stand “FACTS”

  65. ToshithegreaT:

    @Roca

    You might wanna google more into “ps3 on psn”

    since its not 24 gb but

    “For anyone interested, I took the plunge and bought ME2 on the PSN. There are two things to download:

    1. ME2 weighing in at 12GB
    2. Cerberus Pack at 675MB (roughly)”

    http://www.giantbomb.com/mass-effect-2/61-21590/so-i-downloaded-me-2-from-the-psn-size-and-time/35-477089/

  66. ToshithegreaT:

    @Roca

    Too Easy ;)

  67. Roca.:

    @Toshi
    Go on PSN and it clearly states that 24GB is required in order to download ME2. Want me to take a picture of it since your shitty piece of land doesnt have PSN store..

    Even if it’s 12GB that’s still bigger than ME2 on 360 (compressed to shit)…you gotta hear the sound quality on the PS3.

    Here is some fact for you:
    http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2011/01/18/mass-effect-2-download-needs-24gb/

    Toshi – “ME1 comic is announced for both pc and 360 as well, so try harder”

    Thanks Sony and Bioware for that Later ;)
    The point is that we got it from the getgo an you were not required to play ME1 to bring some of the important decisions with you into ME2…like alot of 360 owners who did not play ME1 did.

    Toshi – “And thats not eurogamer’s face off, but Digital Foundary, unless they are biased too lo”

    same shit dude…lmao I guess Google Translate didnt tell you that huh? Eurogamer = Digital Foundry.

  68. Roca.:

    Too easy indeed..
    get some access to the PSN Store before you start talking shit.

  69. oldschool1987:

    Ok Toshitheadtroll, find me proof I am a troll or go back in your shell before you crawl into some salt …it kills slugs.

  70. oldschool1987:

    Hey Toobigatroll, do you also think that ODST is this generations best looking FPS (consoles only)? Lol.

    You’re the Troll, slug. You come on here trying to undermine the PS3 version of Mass Effect with your slug like, trollness lmao. You don’t see me going on to a 360 article saying that the Halo games and Gears are totally shit, because I’m big fans of them. You’re a genuine troll who comes from under his bridge to talk troll about anything non Mincrosoft.

    So tell me slug man, who is the Troll? Bear in mind that you’re the one who came on here saying the PS3 version of ME2 is shit (not in so many words obviously but you’re definitely giving that impression).

  71. oldschool1987:

    Microsoft*

    ‘How does it feel knowing you were 1000% wrong?’

    Also there is no such thing as a 1000% There is only 100%, no more. It does not go higher. Don’t they teach you anything in Slug and Slime academy?

  72. oldschool1987:

    You seem really sore about the PS3 getting your highest rated exclusive. Awwhh poor sad little fanboy, shame the 360 don’t have any games that can match the PS3s exclusives. I wonder if your this bitter because you only have 2 exclusives to play this year, that must bother you? Then again you do have the ball slapping game to keep you occupied.

    I’m alright, I have all 3 consoles. I ain’t no sad troll/slug fangirl who only sticks to one console out of some misplaced, retarded loyalty. Just remember: No matter how loyal you are, Microsoft will still never know your name lol.

  73. ncaissie:

    200% of 10 = 20.

  74. ncaissie:

    I have 9 not including handhelds.
    4 ps3, 4 xbox ones and a shit box wii.

  75. ToshithegreaT:

    “So tell me slug man, who is the Troll? Bear in mind that you’re the one who came on here saying the PS3 version of ME2 is shit”

    @OLDFOOL

    so tell me where did i even said the ps3 version is shit – Fact

    I didnt not comment on ps3 version first (again see my posts, i clearly posted abt who was the best NPC in me2 ) – Fact

    it was birdman’s who started this conversation (dragging my name along) – Fact

    Its funny to see some people posting IGN’s review and calling it fact, I posted Digital foundary’s face/off and now i am a TROLL lol lolol

    Since you dont think you are a troll, then how abt you tell us who started this shit abt which version is superior,

    since i am sure, it was not me who started it and even then u came to post that i m troll lol

    how abt settling things once and for all, either u accept that u knowingly called me a troll, even i was not the one who started this discussion or simply accept that you made a mistake and we would be done with it

  76. ToshithegreaT:

    @Roca

    You could have simply acepted that you were wrong but no, u look like a fool again n again, how abt ask your buddies abt it, how most application that has to be downloaded and executed/installed needs more free space to be downloaded, but the final momory footprint would be less than the required space needed unless it executes compressed files

  77. ToshithegreaT:

    Want me to take a picture of it since your shitty piece of land doesnt have PSN store..

    @Roca=Owned Bitch

    PSN store has been available in India since september

    http://www.community.eu.playstation.com/t5/PlayStation-Network/When-will-ps-store-in-india-be-available/td-p/8626804

  78. ToshithegreaT:

    Even if it’s 12GB that’s still bigger than ME2 on 360 (compressed to shit)…you gotta hear the sound quality on the PS3.

    Actually ME2 on xbox 360 is 12.4 gb, without Kasumi, overload and shadow broker DLC (which are included in ps3 version)
    So it comes down to 15 gb without the cerebrus dlc which is 600-700 gb

    http://stripesonfire.com/nsc/#M

    looks like the “Definitive” version of ME2 has some cough*compressed*cough audio/video lol

    Owned as usual Bit*h

  79. ToshithegreaT:

    Also there is no such thing as a 1000% There is only 100%, no more. It does not go higher. Don’t they teach you anything in Slug and Slime academy?

    @OldFool

    Ah well look again thats captainbirsman’s quote not mine..

    trolling as usual

  80. CaptBirdman:

    Yeah Olds, you keep thinking my quotes are other people’s, like when I made the quip about canada, you thought someone was dissing england… you’re drunk aren’t you :) LOL

  81. phranctoast:

    @Tosh. You left a bit out of the DF comparison. You failed to mention that the textures where better on the PS3 version.

  82. Roca.:

    “PSN store has been available in India since september”

    about damn time… I bet your shitty 1mb connection doesn’t do PSN any justice.

    The fact that the PS3 version of ME2 is the “definitive” with better graphics, texture, sound and more content.

    Toshi – ME2 on 360 is the definitive version
    Bioware – ME2 on PS3 is the definitive version.

    who got owned?? your biased word against Bioware. lmao you’re pathetic.

  83. phranctoast:

    IGN/Bioware vs Toshi. lol

  84. Roca.:

    didn’t Epic also said something similar about Bulletstorm.

    I understand Toshit’s frustation. He only have Gears and Kinect to look forward to after having a poor 2009/10… that’s just weak man.

    What do PS3 owners have to look forward to?
    Well, it started early this year with DCUO coming out the 11th of January. The ME2 and LBP2 the following week. In Feb we have Killzone 3 and things just get better from there on.

  85. ToshithegreaT:

    Toshi – ME2 on 360 is the definitive version
    Bioware – ME2 on PS3 is the definitive version.

    I never sai 360 is the definitive version

    I think its something like this

    pc>360>ps3..

    @Phranc

    to be fair, i did left the link to the article and at the end of the day, DF said technically 360 version still has the edge ;)

    “IGN/Bioware vs Toshi. lol”

    @Roca/Phranc

    Actually its more like IGN/Bioware

    vs Gamespot/Digital Foundary/Lens Of Truth/Ars technica/Toshi and Bioware themselves

    Here’s a quote from Jesse Houston of “BIOWARE”

    “The X vs P discussion is really subjective folks, please make sure you keep that in mind. Like I’ve said before, the goal was not to make the best version or be better than the 360, it was to make it ‘as good’ so that players on both platforms will be able to talk to each other about the exact same game experience as much as possible.

    That goal is substantially harder than you might think, certain things on the PS3 (rendering and audio for example) do not act at all the same. (PS3 doesn’t get DirectX)”

    http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/129/index/5453588/15

    owned as usual ;)

    @Roca

    My 1mps works on live, thanks anyway for the concern :)

  86. ncaissie:

    Toshi It does not matter if the game is 12GB. The Fact is you need 24GB or you can’t download it.
    And I sure it is compressed so installed it is most likely larger than 12GB.

  87. Roca.:

    @Toshi
    http://gamer.blorge.com/2010/12/17/bioware-ps3-mass-effect-2-to-be-the-definitive-version/

    In the video the dude clearly states “Mass Effec 2 on PS3 is the definitive version of ME2″

    “pc>360>ps3″

    again, your “word” against Bioware’s.
    PS3 is simply the definitive version simply because of the content. Then add that you get to do all the important decisions from ME1 without having to play the whole freaking game. Also the game is running on ME3 engine.

    and stop lying about some of those sources, I bet you nitpick through the whole article and pick up line that are sort of negative towards the PS3 version. In fact Ars Technica stated the PS3 version is the best one.

    Ars: “The game runs on the Mass Effect 3 engine, which is good, but you won’t see a huge jump in quality from the past versions of the game”

    “This is also the best-looking and smoothest version of Mass Effect 2 available, due to the engine upgrade. PC gamers can talk about their resolution advantage in the comments if they so choose”

    so there.

    Bioware/IGN/Ars/Blorge/etc vs Toshi.

    The fact remains that ME2 is on PS3 while you xbots get nothing from PS3. Let me know When GOW or Uncharted come out on 360.

    oh btw…doesn’t Epic 3-game deal for Gears of War ends after Gears of War 3…which means any other game after that can be multiplatform. Just like the Mass Effect franshice after ME1.

  88. ToshithegreaT:

    ME2 is’nt a first party exclusive so..

    well gow/uncharted aren’t FPS’s so i m not sure majority of xbots will be excited for them anyway

  89. ToshithegreaT:

    PC>x360>ps3

    It is how it is lol

    DLC+Comic+Me1

    i dont see whats debateble here

  90. ToshithegreaT:

    “This is also the best-looking and smoothest version of Mass Effect 2

    And runs like me1 on xbox 360 lol

    check DF’s technical analysis, 360 version runs better and has better mapping ;)

  91. ToshithegreaT:

    also from Ars Technica

    “Being able to catch up on the story and make the necessary choices with the motion comic is smart—it helps to make the character feel like yours—but there is nothing like going into the sequel with the full weight of the first story on your shoulders after playing the entirety of the first Mass Effect.

    The decisions you made, the people you met, and even those you killed have consequences, and it’s hard to fully appreciate that weight when you’re introduced to everyone through a glorified cut-scene.

    The first hour of the game is going to have much less impact for players who didn’t play the first game, and that’s a shame”

    As i said earlier 360 has me1 + plus it ll be getting the comic soon = so :)

    “We’re also not going to pop in the 360 version and look at them side by side”

    so no comparisions was done – You fail as usual, try harder next time ;)

  92. ncaissie:

    “well gow/uncharted aren’t FPS’s so i m not sure majority of xbots will be excited for them anyway”
    HAHAHA What the fuck are you smoking? Those games are great and if they ever went to the 360 they would sell. Maybe not to retard fanboys like yourself. The fact is a lot of people purchased the 360 because it was out first and others purchased it because their friends did. I know people who love the PS3 but play on the 360 because that is what their friends play on.

  93. Roca.:

    They both (GOW3 & Uncharted2) sold more tha both Mass Effect games lmaoo.

    “they aren’t fps” – stupidest counter argument ever…but what can you expect out of retarded idiot like Toshi.

  94. Roca.:

    the point is that Mass Effect 2, which once was the highest rated 360 exclusive, is now on PS3.

    Now no one can’t argue that the PS3 is not the one console that provides the best games..

  95. ToshithegreaT:

    “HAHAHA What the fuck are you smoking? Those games are great and if they ever went to the 360 they would sell”

    @ncaisse i m not saying those are not good games, i m just saying the live community is more geared towards online fps/tps, so there is a chance they might not be noticed by majority of the xbots

  96. ToshithegreaT:

    “the point is that Mass Effect 2, which once was the highest rated 360 exclusive, is now on PS3.”

    @Roca

    Didnt u once said its not exclusive coz its on PC lol ;)

    Just coz the game came out on ps3 as well doesn’t means that the game isn’t playable on 360.. Its a very high rated game along with bioshock and orange box (both rated 96 on 360 as well)

    GTA IV – Meta 98 on both ps3 and 360

  97. Roca.:

    ^ it doesnt make a difference is those games are available on both PS3 and 360. Exclusives is what set consoles apart from each other and for 3 years in a row the PS3 exclusive has been performing better in numbers, reviews & sales.

    Mass Effect 2 is another great MP title to have nothing more… The game didn’t even won or received as many awards or critical praise as Uncharted 2.

    just look at least year. titles like Crackdown 2, N3-2, Alan Wake and Fable 3 underperformed in both sales and reviews. This year is even worst since the only exclusive to look forward to is Gears and Forza (if you care about racing)… other than that is all about Kinect.

    No wonder CarlB stopped playing 360 (maybe his 360 died) and has been playing PS3 non-stop (12 platinums already). When are you going to wise up and realize the PS3 offers the best games.

  98. phranctoast:

    Carlb’s a total trophy whore…In the good way ;)

  99. ToshithegreaT:

    @Roca

    If people do care for exclusives, then i am sure we all will get to know next year :)

  100. CaptBirdman:

    Toshit

    I have to say mate, you hit the nail on the head with this one

    “I’m just saying the live community is more geared towards online fps/tps”

    I tried to get CarlB to realise this, but he wasn’t having any of it :(
