PS3 version of Portal 2 comes with free Steam PC copy
Gabe Newell is making good on his promise that the PS3 version of Portal 2 will be the “best” console version out there. According to Valve gamers who purchase the PS3 version of Portal 2 will also receive a sweet gift.
The PS3 version of Portal 2 offers cross-platform multiplayer support across PC and Mac versions. This includes cross-platform chat and friends list support. The PS3 version will also benefit from Steam’s cloud-based storage solution for saved games.
This basically ensures that no matter which system you log into (except Xbox 360 version) you will be playing with your Steam account.
According to Shack News, Newell reiterated his commitment to bringing the best console version to the PS3. He stated:
We made a promise to gamers at E3 that Portal 2 for the PlayStation 3 would be the best console version of the product. Working together with Sony we have identified a set of features we believe are very compelling to gamers. We hope to expand upon the foundation being laid in Portal 2 with more Steam features and functionality in DLC and future content releases.
Josh Weier, project lead also added:
We designed the Portal 2 PS3 experience to be very straightforward for gamers. PS3 gamers will be able to simply drop the Blu-Ray disc in the PS3, link to their Steam account from inside the game, and all their Steam friends (on PC and Mac) will be visible and accessible for chat and game invites.
In addition to all of the benefits listed above, gamers who purchase a PS3 version of Portal 2 will automatically get a PC or Mac version of the game for free. This gift alone probably ensures that the PS3 version is the best version out there.

If it works for you let me know.

What’s the difference between the Limited edition and the Collectors edition?
Is it just a change in name because of region?
January 19th, 2011
I guessing he meant Collectors Edition..

I just order online from Amazon.
I ws told by my GF not to get myself any games this month as it’s my B-day at the end. Bummer…
January 20th, 2011
Did they give you a CE?

“I ws told by my GF not to get myself any games this month as it’s my B-day at the end. Bummer”
LMAO Mine wont buy me games for that reason.
January 20th, 2011
Same thing with books. I read a book/book and a half every week. She grabbed my wish list on Amazon, and she’s holding things back. I had to go back to books I already read.
On a side note. I borrowed Black Ops from a friend. I’m embarrassed to say this, but it really is one of the best COD games out there. I still hate Activision though
January 20th, 2011
“Did they give you a CE?”
They didn’t have any extras… I had to buy the regular version since I didn’t want to wait.
I’ll see if Amazone has it and order the CE from there…

LBP2 is way better than the original.. The music is much better and all the lil extra adgets makes the game alot more fun.
Jumping pads + grappling hooks FTW

Phranctoast,
You don’t enjoy Modern Combat?
January 20th, 2011
I should force myself to play lbp 1.
January 21st, 2011
^ why? you already have LBP2
January 21st, 2011
“You don’t enjoy Modern Combat?”
I haven’t played it yet. I hear it’s like Counterstrike meats Modern Warfare though. For only $8 in sounds worthy of a purchase.
January 21st, 2011
“Guess you know what your getting for your BD Phranc.”
I’m hoping Dead Space 2 and either LBP2 or Mass Effect 2.

“You don’t enjoy Modern Combat?”
I tried the trial yesterday and didn’t like it. It’s pretty much just cut-price MW2.
The only mode available in the trial was: one team had to activate a nuclear missile while the other team had to defend it. With no respawns.
If you own Black Ops, MW2, KZ2 or BF: BC 2 there’s no real point in getting it.

“The only mode available in the trial was: one team had to activate a nuclear missile while the other team had to defend it. With no respawns”
no Team Deathmatch? or Team Edwardsor Team Jacob?
January 21st, 2011
Lol sorry I meant to say “Modern Warfare”. Speaking of which I haven’t played mine online since late December. I’m too scared to have my PS3 hacked in MW & MW2
January 22nd, 2011
I tried MW2 again for another hour yesterday and every game except one had been hacked in some capacity. Whether it was pistols firing missiles, unlimited AC130′s or invisibility.
@roca
Team Bella for me.
January 22nd, 2011
Why don’t people hack for good reasons? For starters I would like to have rumble enable for 17 of the PS3 games I own (purchased from 2006-2008). COD4 is an excellent title to start with. Instead of cheating why don’t hackers supply rumble functionality or sixaxis capabilities in the game?
Maybe I’m the one with the unique thinking style but that’s what I would do if I knew how to hack. 3 years ago I crack open my sixaxis controllers and installed two rumble motors from my xbox controller. There’s a part on the circuit that interacts with the red and blue cords.
There’s just mass stupidity going on these days. Why would gamers only hack two games when there’s over 11 titles for the PS3?? No cares to hack Warhawk, Oblivion, Virtua Fighter 5, Armored Core 4, Soul Calibur 4, etc.?
No….instead they just hack shooter games….lame.
