Preorder Killzone 3 to gain entry into SOCOM 4 early beta program
Two major games will be launching during the first half of this year for the PS3. Killzone 3 is set to launch next month, while SOCOM 4 is set to release a few months later. Sony is planning a special gift for those who pick up Killzone 3.
According to the PlayStation Blog, those picking up Killzone 3 will automatically be enrolled in SOCOM 4’s early beta program. Although, gamers will have to pick up a specially marked Killzone 3 box in order to participate.
Here are the details directly from Chris Roper of Zipper Interactive:
To get early access to the beta, look for the SOCOM 4 callout on the front of all eligible copies of Killzone 3 (including both the standalone and Helghast Editions). Inside the box you’ll find a PSN code that you’ll be able to redeem for your early access as soon as the beta goes live. To find out when the SOCOM 4 multiplayer beta begins, be sure to check back at SOCOM.com once you pick up your copy of Killzone 3, hitting shelves on February 22nd.
We’ll have more information on the SOCOM 4 multiplayer beta itself in the near future. For now, take a look at the callout for the beta on the awesome Killzone 3 box art!
You can also preorder Killzone 3 from several participating retailers to ensure that you gain entry into the SOCOM 4 beta. Those who preorder will be guaranteed the special box with the beta code. However, after the preorder period ends supplies will be limited at retailers for the special box.
It looks like it will be pure shooter madness for PS3 owners. Killzone 3 will launch February 22nd and SOCOM 4 is set to release sometime in April of this year. The beta program will be available to those in the U.S, Canada, and Mexico.

I guess it could have been worse. Sony could have used a no name game to push a Beta for a game that many people are eagerly anticipating like Microsoft did with Crackdown and Halo 3.

“series deserved deeper and better protagonists”
While I agree… I think it’s kind of too late to whine about the portagonists in Killzone. The franchise is on its 3rd game, it’s not like they’re going to start Killzone 3 with a whole new set of characters.
I think Rico is the only one that needs to go. Even in the PS share.blog there are many ppl requesting the death of Rico.

Yeah. The character piss me off in KZ2 (have never played KZ). I’m just not into the word “fuck” being used as every other word in a sentence. I think profanity being in games has to be more tasteful like Uncharted did. Same thing with nudity. Heavy Rain covered this well. More so than GOW or Dantes Inferno.

Sev is cool though.. Radec and Visari were cool characters too.

Visari’s speeches at the start of both games are awesome.

“Killzone 3 is 41.5 GB making it just a little bit over XIII making it the largest current Playstation 3 title. This is quite a shock considering the last game in the series Killzone 2 clocked in with a respectable 12 GB!
With this news though, I’m sure you have to be wondering if there’s a data install. I mean most largest games have one, and you want something this nice to run perfectly right? Well we are happy to announce that Killzone 3 officially has NO data install and runs perfectly!”
41.5GB = 7 360 DVDs

wow. I’m sure the 70 minutes of cutscenes help….
