Wii Sports world record held by old man
Proof, if proof were needed, that the Wii is a console for all, with age being no factor in how good or bad someone is at using it.
There are various records associated with gaming, most of them being held by young adults with too much time on their hands. But who has got more time on their hands than most? People who have retired, of course. So it’s rather fitting to hear that the holder of the Guinness World Record for Wii Sports bowling is an 85-year-old from Onalaska, Wisconsin.
John Bates, the man in question, recorded 2,850 perfect games between April 2009 and October 2010 to make the famous book. He began playing the game around a friend’s house at the end of 2008, and has clearly been addicted to it ever since. He claims his secret is being ambidextrous.
I don’t even think I could play that many games of Wii Sports bowling, let alone making perfect scores in a high proportion of them. Well, not without getting bored, anyway. Still, I think it’s great that someone of that age is deriving such pleasure (and notoriety) out of gaming. It’s easy to criticize the Wii but it’s certainly expanded the age range of gamers.

My Brother in law plays Half Life on steam all the time and there is a Grandmother on there who kicks people’s ass all the time. I guess the PC is for all ages too.

My Grandfather just completed the Black Ops SP campaign. He said it was really good but there was quite a lot of violence.

this is pretty cool. After all the “old farts” jokes are done, more customers is always a good thing for the industry and the careers it sustains.
gaming is being recommended by docs for great eye-hand coordination exercises and keeping the mind active.
while sony fanboys hate, nintendo laughs all the way to the bank. I guarantee Sony would love a new customer market. Theirs of previous generations seems to have forgot about them this gen.

I would rather play a real gaming system then a gaming system that appeals to the masses with low resolution graphics and crappy software.

Yeah, Cad some of these older people are pretty good. They have retired and have plenty of time to play games.

“Man! I struggle to make even one simple Strike, that fellow made 34,200 consecutively!”
It wasn’t consecutively. Just won that many in one year. It doesn’t say in a row.

PS3 > PC > Wii > 360
